Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released in the U.S. on February 4th and sometime during April in Europe. Prior to its release, the game will see a downloadable demo on the Nintendo eShop in North America. Nintendo also have plans for free and paid DLC missions, which you can read about here.

Well that 3DS looks very sexy. With my own 3DS in bad shape, I may as well pick one of these up!

  • IshimaruKaito

im getting this…..can i transfer my mii plaza stuff?? like my puzzle swaps and the find mii??

    • AuraGuyChris

If the store clerks let you do it.

    • Brandonmkii

If you’re trading in another 3DS to get this, ask if you can transfer your stuff in-store, because you need both 3DS’s around to transfer. It does take a while, depending on how much you transfer, so just keep that in mind.

      • IshimaruKaito

im not trading my 3ds in…i just wanted to kno how i can transer it myself and how to do it

        • You can do a system transfer 5 times.

          • Go to system settings where you manually do system updates. There is an option that says system transfer

  • alastor3

    I wish it was XL

    • ffboi7

This 3DS model came out before the 3DS XL was announced so its not too surprising that it isn’t a 3DS XL model.

  • Bobby Jennings

So much for Nintendo not following the DLC trend :x

    • Hraesvelgr

DLC is fine if it’s done properly. The DLC for this game is entirely optional and doesn’t involve cut content intended to be sold as DLC.

      • Yeah, its old characters and endless maps for grinding with rather amusing stories. Its pretty much how DLC should be done.

      • Bobby Jennings

How do you know if it’s cut content of not though? That’s what I want to know.

    • I’d like to ask people to refrain from starting the DLC arguments in here, please. This isn’t the article for them. Let’s not let the usual Internet cynicism derail another discussion thread.

      • Bobby Jennings

Okay, no prob. Sorry bout that. It just came to me :l

  • phangtom

They should at least include a physical copy of the game rather than a DD

    • Ethan_Twain

      Why? What’s the difference?

      • Some people just want a physical copy because of tangibility… or being able to trade it in after they’re done with it. Though I’m sure many wouldn’t explicitly state that’s why they want a physical copy.

        • Pyrofrost

I prefer having a physical copy, because I prefer having a tangible version of a game in my collection. Is that explicit enough?

      • Steven Bambic

because some people might want to trade it afterwards… or they like having a physical copy for collection sake

      • phangtom

Because I like to have it because I’m a fan of Fire Emblem and like to have physical copies (whenever possible) when it comes down to purchasing games. I like to have a collection.

        • nothing956

I just don’t want to waste the memory.

    • デ オオカミ

The Japanese bundle had a physical copy too, so I guess it’s just about pressing costs?

Either way, it’s a beautiful 3DS, got mine on release last year.

    • Minh

I might be wrong but a physical copy might be included as well (as least just the case XD) like the jp bundle. Text just says pre-installed, not Only digital copy, so let’s not toss all hope away yet :D

  • fireemblembeast

Woah cool that’s pretty cheap. The downside is no actual game box and cartridge…:/
    Also by now people want XL. But still, I’m touched that NoA would go from not localizing FE12 to bringing the special 3DS for FE13 here. Their dedication is heart-warming. It’s like, I don’t know, seeing your child grow up in front of you. ;~;

  • sugarum

I’m going to get this. Did Nintendo say where we can buy it? Like do I have to order it through the Nintendo shop or can I just go to Amazon / GameStop?

  • Kevin Tan

I missed the Japanese version of this, but I won’t miss this one! It’ll serve as a nice replacement for my old 3DS I damaged on pavement by accident. :)

  • Barrylocke89

Grrr, I really REALLY like that 3DS. Damn me and my tight wallet.

  • Ladius

Even if I already have an XL I could end up buying this one just because of my Fire Emblem fanboysm :P Are preorders already opened online?

    • AnimusVox

I’ve been looking but I don’t see any yet.

  • IshimaruKaito

i dont think its at gamestop yet

  • Have they announced which retailers will have the bundle and/or are there pre-orders available? I don’t wanna be waiting for this and suddenly it’s sold out day 1 before I get to a store.

    • No, they haven’t specified any such thing.

      • I’ll just have to hope that they release it on Amazon or Gamestop, since in Japan I believe they only sold it through Nintendo’s store

    • And maybe end up on online stores/markets with higher prices. I’m not reluctant to buy from them if the price isn’t raised too high, but that would really blow.

  • Ray

I do not have a 3DS yet, and for 200 bucks this thing is pretty cheap. It looks pretty rad too, Never played a Fire Emblem Game before, but I can tell that it’s kinda like Final Fantasy Tactics in terms of battle system, which is just… well, awesome! I wonder if it’s a hard game, too? That would be the icing on the cake! Oh, I’m also gona get this one because I really need a 3DS for both Pokemon X & Y :D

    • andref

Well Fire Emblem if played on the harder setting is a bit difficult especially if you are attached to certain units. It’s difficult designing the right tactic that will insure survival of said units

      • Ray

Sold. I’m in. Must buy for me, haha

    • fireemblembeast

I’m glad that this game is drawing in newcomers! If all goes well and sales are high, which I bet they are going to be , then we can all look forward to faster and better releases in the future here in the West! Thank you for supporting FE :) Its always a great feeling to witness someone trying out a series you like for the first time. You won’t regret it. Ah, I’m so happy~

  • puchinri

Guh! I may have to save up for this myself, which isn’t bad, but man. I hope it’ll be available for a while. (The pink XL I wanted barely popped up and then disappeared before I knew it, sadly.)

  • $29082171

    I’ve seen cheaper bundles, uuuh.

  • “sometime during April in Europe”

The fact that there isn’t even a set release date for this game in Europe (or at the very least an estimated release date set forth by Nintendo themselves!!) pains me greatly. April is one long month, and I hope this releases very early in the month :3

  • UGH! My wallet! Please, I just bed you just this once. Why do I have to be a college student with a shitty paying job. D: LOL I don’t want to miss this >-<

EDIT: Also, why isn't there a physical copy? D: I need a physical copy for collections sakes. Damn… so either buy this bundle and get a downloaded version or just get a regular one with the game by itself… HMMMMM

  • Miralizmis

Do I buy the game and get the art book and physical copy… Or… Do I get this, and get the epic 3DS but have no physical copy… >_>

    • Someone pre-ordered me the physical copy. so I’ll be purchasing this with my own money XD

      • Miralizmis

        Lucky. XD

  • KingGunblader

A standalone 3DS is $169 now, isn’t it? Seeing as how Sony has Vita bundles for the same cost as a standalone Vita, I figured Nintendo would want to go that same route. It’s still a pretty good deal though.

I hope the demo goes up on the eShop this week.

  • Tails the Foxhound

Well damn if that isn’t a competitive price. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bunch of non/new Fire Emblem fans walking around with this.

    • AnimusVox

I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a Fire Emblem fan but I have played em all, save for this one of course. I just find this system to be very nice and this entry to look more interesting personally.
But I know what you mean.

  • Visa Vang

If I buy this, will I be able to re-download the game is my question. You never know what’s gonna happen to that SD card.

  • MediaMindControl

Pretty good price point. I still wonder does Nintendo of America think the Fire emblem fan base hasn’t bought a 3ds yet? That their more faithful fans will buy this simply for collectors sake or if there is a market of people who will get a 3ds because of this bundle.. Probably the third one but even at that I’d say it’s pretty slim pickings. Can you transfer your data from one 3ds over to another? say I already had one and I wanted this bundle.? Just curious. I already plan on getting a 3ds, in March, for Monster Hunter.

    • You can transfer your data, yes, but if you intend on trading your old 3DS in, you’ll need to talk to the store and do the process with their help, since they’ll be taking your old unit.

    • Arrei

Well, I do seem to constantly see a bunch of people going “Now I just need a 3DS” or “Now I have a reason to get a 3DS!” every time a quality game comes out, this game included…

And as for me, I’m seriously considering trading in ol’ Flame Red here for that 3DS. I’m unlikely to ever opt for an XL so a nice limited edition 3DS is sure to last me for a long time.

    • fayt255

I was waiting for fire emblem to come out before I got a 3DS so this bundle works great!

  • I expect this: “And if you pre-order at Gamestop, you’ll receive an exclusive beach mission as DLC, and a bathing suit for your create-a-character! “.

  • Lazulis

Man, if a physical copy was included I’d preorder or day 1 this instantly.

  • OverlordZetta

And here I am just about to upgrade to a 3DS!
Do all 3DS systems have those ugly little… eyes, or whatever, on the bottom though? Or is that just this one?

  • Zhou

So for anyone wondering, you can get the bundle from Best Buy or Future Shop only.

“In Canada, the Fire Emblem Awakening Nintendo
3DS hardware bundle launches exclusively at Best Buy and Future Shop on
Feb. 4! The bundle will be available online and in-store at a retail
    price of $199.99.”
