By Spencer . January 18, 2013 . 12:33am

Guest characters Ayane, Momoji, and Rachel were only enabled for specific missions in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Players will be able to use the kunoichi more in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus. Tag Missions let players switch between Ryu and any of the cameo characters. You can also select the lady ninjas in Ninja Race mode where you have to cut down enemies and grab items to keep the clock from timing out.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus comes out on February 26 on PlayStation Vita.

Anyone know if there’s a bloodier mode for western players?

    • Stephen Clarkkim

This is a trailer for the JP version. It’s notable that the bloody screens posted earlier are NOT shown on the official JP website.

Yet those same screens appear on the NA and EU website.
CES gameplay footage also has shown spurts of blood instead of purple mist explosions.

So it is likely that the localized versions of the game will not be censored.

      • Except the German version, which will be identical to the Japanese one – NGIII on WiiU and NGII on X360 got their German classification refused due to the gore whereas the internationally censored PS3 version of NGS2 got rated 18+. It seems that the rest of the world will be treated to Itagaki’s blood-soaked original vision.

    • Sergio Briceño

      It’s called Ninja Gaiden 2. :p JK.

I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure Tecmo would charge for it, eventually.

  • So, I’m confused, is tag mode the option to play the story missions but as them without cutscenes (a la Razor’s Edge), or is it a series of missions made just for them? On the bright side, looks like we get our 60 frames per second :D

    • Stephen Clarkkim

Judging fps from a 30fps youtube video isn’t a smart idea.
Until we get confirmation from Team Ninja or people playing the demo/retail build, I’d expect 30fps.

    • Sergio Briceño

It isn’t clear to me either. I hope it’s like an arcade mode, but with tag.

Keep up the great ports Tecmo Koei! For those who never got to play (or didn’t have a console to play) these games, these ports are much appreciated.

  • Lester Paredes

As someone who loves punishing difficulty and ridiculous story lines, I cannot wait for this game! Thanks Tecmo Koei!

    • Blitz Krieg

Too bad Tecmo Koei and Hayashi ruined the trilogy.

      >tfw Itagaki will never make another NG game.

      • Sergio Briceño

        Shame indeed…

      • Lester Paredes

I hear that the Wii U version fixed many of the flaws of Ninja Gaiden 3. I just hope they push those fixes onto other systems.

  • Blitz Krieg

    >The game still has the splatter/gore censored.

Most people who wanted to play the game already did on Xbox 360 or PS3 anyway.

    • Stephen Clarkkim

This is a trailer for the JP version. For all we know, the localized versions could be uncensored (see my post below).

Finally, I was waiting for a trailer

  • DarthSithZero

    Hey where’s the BLOOD & DISMEMBER !?!?!?! o_O

  • This is a NO without Kasumi! What possible reason could they have to screw Vita players and favor WiiU owners over this?

    • fds_nextdart

How did they screw PSV owners when Kasumi was made available for NG3, a completely different game than NGSP2~?

      • Cause they could perfectly make her available for NGS2+ if they had a lick of sympathy for Playstation players. Kasumi is property of Tecmo, not Nintendo as far as I know.

        • Kai M

Agreed, but then I imagine Nintendo would be knocking on Tecmo door if they use Kasumi.

          • And why in the hell should they listen to Nintendo rather than their public?

  • Göran Isacson

Is that turtle boss in the original NG2, because I don’t recall it… then again it’s possibly I may just have a bad memory.
