Here’s Everything You’ll Find In Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus For Vita

By Ishaan . January 29, 2013 . 9:17am

Tecmo Koei have released a trailer for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus for the PlayStation Vita. The trailer shows off combat, the game’s new modes, as well as the various characters (and costumes) you’ll be able to use in the game. The trailer is similar to the one released in Japan a few weeks ago, but the English version has blood.

Pre-ordering Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus at GameStop in the U.S. will grant access to three new costumes—one for Ayane, Momiji and Rachel each. In Europe, you’ll be able to grab these by pre-ordering anywhere.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus will be released in North America on February 26th and in Europe on March 1st. To read up on the game’s new modes, check here.

I love me some high quality action games but Ninja Gaiden has always seemed so…stiff. Those girls are so delicious though.

    • Really? They’ve always have seemed *Puts on Sunglasses* pretty bouncy to me.

    • NGS2 is the best game in the trilogy and its combat engine is pretty good. The first one was stiff but the second one is awesome.

      • The second was certainly less of a pain in the ass to play, that’s for sure.

        • TheExile285

Did they make they other extra characters more interesting? The Rachel levels were painful in NGS+ but the other characters seem better in this one

          • I mean. I haven’t finished it, so…

I like the concept of Ninja Gaiden better than actually playing Ninja Gaiden.

          • TheExile285

I just hate how it seems that I do more dodging than attacking in NGS+. I asked around and it seems NGS2+ is better so I will probably pick this one up too. The new modes seem very appealing

          • NGS2 is much superior to the first game. For starters the difficulty does not spike as erratically as it did in the first game and the upgrade system has been streamlined (you only upgrade one weapon at certain spots, but all weapons are at level 3 if you play chapter challenge). Ayane and Momiji are a blast to play. I did not like Rachel since the first game and she’s still lame. Playing as Ayane is loads of fun, but I might be biased as I love the character.

          • TheExile285

            I see, thanks!

  • OverlordZetta

Do they do preorders of digital copies yet? Because… Ehhhh…

    • Yes. They have for some time now.

      • Solomon_Kano

Not on Vita though. You can pre-order PS3 games through PSN, but there’s no pre-ordering of Vita games. Unless you’ve gotta do it through the PS3 storefront or something. You definitely can’t do it through the Vita though.

        • I got the option to digital preorder Soul Sacrifice earlier today.

          • Solomon_Kano

Oh really? That’s cool. Can you do it from the Vita or do you have to do it through a PC or PS3? Because, if so, I’d hope Sony does that for more games in the future. I haven’t seen it for anything else.

  • Oh I miss the days when bonus costumes were unlockable.

    • Unlockables, one of the great losses brought on by the age of DLC.

      • GibbRS

Indeed. Trophies/Achievements and DLC have mostly killed off in-game unlockables. I’d rather play a game longer to unlock extra costumes, concept art, bonus levels, etc, than trophies.

        • Solomon_Kano

I don’t know about trophies killing unlockables. I can see why you’d say that, but there are still a number of games this gen with unlockables so I don’t think one affected the other. I think it’s just something a lot of devs have decided to move away from. A majority of today’s DLC feels less like stuff that would’ve been unlockables before and more like stuff that you would’ve found in an expansion pack for a PC game (extra story and such). Of course, there are the Capcoms and Namdais of the world who release tons of costumes that could’ve been unlockable, but a lot of DLC is stuff that wouldn’t have ever been designated as an unlockable.

Controversial as it is, DmC actually has all of the things you said in addition to trophies. Tons of concept art, as many bonus levels as there are main missions, extra costumes, and even extra difficulties to unlock. That’s in addition to trophies and already announced DLC (one of which actually unlocks the costumes for those who don’t want to earn them).

I miss unlockables myself, so it baffles me why the majority of pubs/devs don’t just do unlockables AND DLC. One doesn’t negate the other. Keep unlockables and make it DLC for the lazy/time-conscious.

      • raymk

Games still have unlockable costumes but that doesn’t mean they won’t be DLC either. DLC has nothing to do with not having unlockables because without DLC you most likely wouldn’t be getting anything for most games.

    • raymk

Oh be silent bob you miss everything and complain about everything. The game actually does have unlockable costumes, the sigma 2 for ps3 did as well so what are you complaining about exactly? That’s why people should just say what they know or don’t say anything at all.

      • Luna Kazemaru

        Just him

  • Guest

One question how do I get the alternative costumes if I don’t live in U.S also I’m planning to get the Digital version

    • Rick R

It says in Europe you can get it by preordering anywhere. My advice to you is to go physical to be sure. IDK if digital preorders will get the dlc.

  • Another game I’m forced to not buy because of poor marketing choices. Then again, I wouldn’t really want to play a serious action game on a Vita anyways.

    • raymk

      Huh what poor marketing choices?

      • Retailer-exclusive preorder DLC. Retailer-exclusive anything is bad. Preorder anything is bad. DLC is bad. This combines them all in one package. Therefore, no buy.

        • Syn

You say something similar on every post, on the Soul Sacrifice one your like “Seriously? Now I’m forced to boycott the game.” Am not sure if youre a sorta fan boy, or just hard to please, anywho, like I said in a previous post, if little things cause you to miss out on entire game experiences…..Sucks to be you

    • DarthSithZero

Whatever dude Meanwhile I will enjoy this game twice as the first, I know the Preorder bonus are shit but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the game

    • Wow someone sounds like a fanboy o.o What are you doing in the Vita section fanboy? No more news for your console? :O

      • Solomon_Kano

        This… what?

He’s clearly anti-DLC, not exactly anti-Vita. Not wanting to play a so-called “serious action game” on Vita doesn’t make him a fanboy. He’s said nothing to indicate as much. Chill.

      • M’iau M’iaut

Let’s drop the asides and rude behavior in future posts. Thanks and warned.

  • DarthSithZero

Finally Dismember, Blood, Chicks + New modes and extras The best version of NG Sigma 2 in my hands

  • eilegz

as usual gamestop fuck us all, why every single publisher hates gamestop yet they always get the preorder bonuses, why not amazon or any other place…. sigh

    • MrSirFeatherFang

I know… it’s very inconvenient for me to drive to the closest GS now that I’ve been banned on their site…
Actually tbh Tecmo (well now Tecmo-Koei) has usually almost always made their preorder bonuses/limited edition at GS.

  • Jesse Torres

    yep im pre-ordering this biatch!!!

    The women’s dresses are stupid…

    • raymk

Well honestly Momij’s looks very good.

  • Solomon_Kano

I told myself I’d wait until they announced a NG3 for Vita* and get all 3 together, but I really wanna play Sigma 2 again. Choices, choices.

*TK did mention bringing the Razor’s Edge content to other platforms, though that was in reference to home consoles. The fact that both enhanced versions of the first 2 have made it to Vita and how quickly they ported DOA5+ to Vita, I don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect a Sigma 3 at some point and a Sigma 3+ for Vita thereafter.

    • you don’t want to play 3.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

Have you played NG3 on Master Ninja or Ultimate Ninja? It’s not something anyone would want to go through, let alone Normal or Hard.
        Sorry I misread your post.

      • Solomon_Kano

Not the original 3, no. I’ve played it already. Ugh. From what I’ve been told of Razor’s Edge though, it fixes the things I disliked. So that I do want to play.

    • Elvick

I would support Sigma 2+ so it does well, and then they’ll be more inclined to support Vita in the future. With a potential Sigma 3+ or whatever they would call it by the time it hits Vita.

I remember the entire reason they stated they were bringing out Sigma 2+ was because of how well the first Sigma+ did.

So better to just make sure this release goes well, to make sure we get the next one. Because I would like to play NG3 in some form on Vita as well.

      • Solomon_Kano

Good point. Guess I’ll grab it sooner, rather than later.

    • They could accelerate the process by making Kasumi a DLC for NGS2+. I do think it would have been a far more interesting preorder bonus, but they may actually wait for the hype to reach stratospheric levels (their facebook page is a bloodbath) and then make her a high price DLC.

      • Solomon_Kano

I’d pass on that. I actually want all of the additional stuff. Just adding a playable Kasumi to the same NGS2 that I played on PS3 years ago would do nothing for me. I’d also be the last to encourage some high priced DLC lol.

  • Zal_Yagun

Wait, did sigma 2 fix the wonky camera fron vanilla 2?

  • gamefreak86

Damnit. Looks like pre order. Hey Tecmo, where’s the DoA5 plus collector news?

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Does anyone know if this release has the JP audio or not?

    • I asked on the PSB but no reply yet. I hope so as I’d like to experience Itagaki’s vision for the game: Blood, gore and JP voices. The American VAs make my ears bleed and I cringe each time I hear them, they’re atrocious, bordering on obnoxious.

Fact of the matter is that I will be getting the censored JP release if JP voices are cut from the game (PS3 version featured both audio tracks but space is a much bigger concern on Vita).

      • MrSirFeatherFang

I just mainly prefer Ryu’s Japanese voice, though if the NGS Plus had JP audio and English text for the Asia release (which I hopefully will pick up soon).
I see your point if you would want the JP voices over the blood and gore. The gore wasn’t that important to me. I mean the original NG only really had head decapitations.
Well I hope you get a response soon or at least TK will say so sooner or later.

        • Well, it seems Itagaki’s original blood and gore + Jap. voices are in the western release. Chin wrote on the EU PSB that the Vita version will most likely include Jap. voices just like the PS3 version. =)

          • MrSirFeatherFang

            Nice! Thank You!

  • TheExile285

I hate that they say the costumes are pre-order bonuses for GameStop yet GS doesn’t even have the game up on the their site. They are also missing DoA5+

Devs really need to quite with this retailer specific pre-order bonus crap

  • miyamoto

Sega is green with envy now.
