Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode Announced For 3DS

By Ishaan . February 16, 2013 . 11:00am

Namco Bandai’s new Digimon game has been revealed via an early leak of V Jump magazine, and it is an updated version of Digimon World Re:Digitize, which was released for the PSP in 2012.

Titled Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, the updated game will include new Digimon such as Omegamon X-Antibody and Dukemon X-Antibody, along with a Digimon called Dorumon. Two new story chapters are being added to the game as well—The Scheming Demon Lord and The Lamentful X-Antibody.

Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode will be released sometime in 2013.

Finally a Digimon game with a chance of seeing the light of day outside of Japan!

Hey Saban, want to know a way to boost interest for Digimon Fusion? Help localize this game!

    • Ash Sora

I would not be to shocked if they did. We got a lot of the games when the anime was airing over here but when it stopped hardly any games

  • Hinataharem

Does this mean better localization chances?

    • ronin4life

3ds is doing better than psp over here…

Even so, I have no idea…. and would say “no”, except Project x zone is making the leap. Anyones guess, really.

      • VietKnight

Only problem is Digimon is owned by Bandai I believe but I can be wrong just hope the later is true.

        • SirRichard

That wouldn’t be an issue, I’d think, if Namco Bandai are willing to give Project X-Zone a chance, there might be a chance that they’d give Digimon a shot.

        • Renaldi Saputra

if they’re owned by bandai, why Digimon Story series + Championship got localized?

          • VietKnight

Namco-Bandai hence the name. And they got localized due to the fact Digimon Data Squad was being aired in the NA region.

          • Renaldi Saputra

nah it means with xros being aired in NA.. that means localization is pretty possible, isn’t it?

      • Juan Andrés Valencia

I think it haves a chance. A fairly average chance but that still counts.

  • Ayaka

With Nintendo being all into “we like helping teams in localization” and 3DS as a marvelous console (at least regarding my game-interests), this is way good.

Hope we’ll manage to know a bit more about their plans with this game!

    • Otoya

They should actually, or else is not fair for ppl outside JPN. :P
Game like Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney should get localization too…

  • BAMCOOOO~ You want our $$$/euro/whtever ryte?

  • Strain42

Holy Crap, I can’t believe this. I really wanted that game, but I knew as a PSP game it stood no chance…could it be that this one might be released here?

Oh man, reading this just made it difficult to balance my laptop…

  • Shadowman

Let us all pray for a localization.

    • lordroto

They are bringing Project X Zone over, if that could make it, anything can

      • Shadowman

        Yes! You gotta believe!

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

If Dorumon is here, Alphamon is without a doubt too. When are we having Alphamon X?

    • LynxAmali

I’m pretty sure the whole point Alphamon is the fact that it doesn’t need an X-Antibody variant to survive.

At least, that’s according to X-Evolution.

      • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

I see. But it’s unfair he is the only who doesn’t get a cool powerup.

        • LynxAmali

Technically, Alphamon in itself is a power up, especially if you team him up with Owryumon and give it the sword.

          • Renaldi Saputra

yep, bcos an ordinary dorumon evolve into Dorugoramon

    • Renaldi Saputra

Alphamon was the core of X-Antibody, same as Ouryuumon..
Dorumon and Ryuudamon’s line already had it since they’re baby
They naturally have it when born, not like other digimon.. so their name was not ended with ‘X’

    • Steven Higgins

Alphamon, just like all other members of the 3 Dorumon lines, is a natural carrier of the X-Antibody. He will never have an X-Antibody variant as he already is one.

      • Renaldi Saputra

the red ruby on his forehead explained it

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

How come none of the Digimon games have Dukemon Crimson Mode?

    • Pedro Tavares

Digimon Story has, I have one in Sunburst version.

  • Pedro Tavares

I hope this time they have Veemon ingame, that was the most retarded thing ever, but the game was rushed anyway, Veemon was in the trailer had a card for all his forms but wasn’t ingame pfft.

    • Christopher Nunes

Oh you’re right… they only had Agumon and Guilmon in the game, aside from Dorumon who wasn’t a partner.

Considering they’re adding more Digimon this time around I hope Veemon and his other forms are in! Which reminds, do 3DS Game Cartridges hold more memory than the PSP UMD discs?

  • Ethan_Twain

Man, I really had no idea that Digimon was still a thing. I was super into season one of that show as a little kid, but I never watched anything else and moved on to whatever the next fad for elementary school kids was. But then this game came along and sold quite well in Japan – it kinda surprised me. Is the TV show still running over there? Or is it a manga (or maybe it was always a manga)?

When was the last time the Digimon cartoon aired in the US? I haven’t heard of it recently, but then again I don’t really follow Saturday morning cartoons anymore :) If Digimon’s been off the market for more than a year or two, then I think localization chances even on the 3DS are pretty darn slim. Even with NamcoBandai having a close relationship with Nintendo, and even with Nintendo focusing on distributing more Japanese product to foreign shores… the licensed game for a kids anime show that isn’t even on the air here is a REALLY bad pitch you guys. Unless this ties into the TV show to hook a bunch of little kids, I’m gonna give this 0% odds.

    • Reki Honoo

Well saban has aquired the rights to dub digimon xros wars this year, so this has a chance to get localized

      • I have to admit, I don’t know much about Digimon at all, but the “World” games aren’t based on any particular Digimon anime series, are they? That should mean that there aren’t any licensing complications with anime broadcasters or licensing companies.

        • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

None that I recall. Though, the original DS game and the Dawn/Dusk games had the main characters from Savers and the latter also had some of the characters from one of the mangas.

          • @google-5728add624694fd640a2d5634b531e84:disqus @SirRichard:disqus @facebook-100001588612207:disqus Right, from what I can tell, stuff like Xros Wars is more anime-related (and those DS games did come over, I think?) but the World titles seem to be their own thing, sort of like how the Pokémon games aren’t really connected to the anime but share plot devices and characters with it.

I would think Re:Digitize Reload could have a decent chance of making it over, so hopefully everyone that got burned by the PSP version not coming over will have something to look forward to. I mean, PXZ is coming over and Namco aren’t really being shy about One Piece either, so…

          • LynxAmali

The Xros Wars games did not come over. The last games we got were Dawn/Dusk which were still technically part of the “Savers/Data Squad family.’

We did not get Lost Evoution, nor Super Xros Wars. The later I understand as they were based on Xros Wars as a whole but the fact we didn’t get Lost Evolution was somewhat of a downer as it was in between Savers and Xros.

          • Ah, okay. So I guess the ones based on or associated with the various anime seasons do still have major licensing hurdles that look like they can’t be overcome.

          • Reki Honoo

Honestly, I just think that they were being lazy with not getting lost evolution localized. Last I checked, there was no problems with any licensing problems. Hopefully this will get localized, cause of saban dubbing xros wars as I had said before, and that the fact Nintendo said there gonna help get games localized.

          • Renaldi Saputra

maybe bcos lost evolution was the lowest selling for all DS Digimon games.. and xros is an anime based

        • SirRichard

The “World” games (at least, this one and the old PS1 ones) aren’t based on the anime series directly, but they often include elements from the show like the villains or whatever. Re:Digitize doesn’t seem to have that, though.

        • Marcelo Gouvea

Indeed, Saban has nothing to do with game localizations (not even Rumble Arena, the one that has characters from the anime). However, there *is* a connection between the new Digimon dub and the game — seeing as how there is a show to support it, maybe that will motive Bandai to localize the game. It’s probably what had them localize the (terrible) Data Squad PS2 game.

    • ronin4life

A few of the ds games continued to make it over despite(to my knowledge) no Anime to sell them with.

This entry also has no connection to any anime series(again, as far as I know) and is more in line with the ps1 game and the old digital pet toys. I’m sure there is a fan base here, even if it is small.

    • Steven Higgins

There were 7 seasons in Japan (although there’s some debate among fans as to weather or not part 2 of the 6th season is a season in and of itself making the total number 8), many with different casts and set in different universes as well as several mangas both based on different seasons, original stories and one on the original Re: Digitize. The last season to air in the US was season 5 back in 2006. This game is not connected to any of them but despite this, if Bandai takes us older hardcore fans in our 20’s into consideration for once the chances of localization are pretty good.

      • Ethan_Twain

I dunno man. A kids show from 2006? What’s the target demographic for Digimon anyway – boys age 8-12 or something I would imagine? If there haven’t been any new Digimon TV shows in the last 6 years to get the current wave of kids interested… who would they be selling this to? Just people who have a nostalgia thing for that Digimon show they used to watch? I don’t think that’s a good plan dude – most people who watch these Saturday morning cartoons don’t become lifelong franchise fans or anything… they grow up and move on to whatever else becomes cool.

        • Renaldi Saputra

you seem didn’t understand about a game’s localization..

        • They’re planning on dubbing the next series into English and air it on Nickelodeon this year (2013), so… there’s that.

          • Ethan_Twain

Hey, there is that! Tie the game in with the new TV show and I think localization makes a lot more sense! Thanks for the info.

  • Reki Honoo

    Please, get localized

  • Marcelo Gouvea

Come on, Bamco, you’ve been surprising us lately…so please, surprise us once more!

  • sd28

hopefully they will have the v-mon line in this game

    • Steven Higgins

Which one? The Ex-Vee line or the Veedra line?

  • Youka Youkai

i don’t give a shit until i see digimon game be localize

  • Zarx

Hopefully this still has Lili in it, and actually get localized. I love the Digimon World 1 style games.

  • MrTyrant

A Perfect opportunity to bring this game :)

    • Renaldi Saputra

      it is

  • TiamatNM

having a bra on your head is stylish to the max

  • Warboss Aohd

well dis iz favorable newz for us.

  • DarkWaterClone

As a fan of Digimon l am saddened this is not a complete new game. But more of just an updated version of the PSP one. But I am ok with this. Because this version should have a far better chance coming out in the west then the PSP version. So at the end of the day I am happy this got announced. I wonder if it will use the street pass feature? I hope so I could see some cool ideas with it.

    • Renaldi Saputra

please remind that this is not what they mentioned about the ‘new game’ before..
the aforementioned announcement also will be on 21st february, so we don’t know yet..
while this is just one another

      • Suzaku

Announced will be in the Feb 21 issue of V-Jump, which this scan is from (because the magazine leaked early).

        • Renaldi Saputra

          I see, so that’s it

  • luckgandor

I’ve heard the PSP version is visually stunning. Aside from the hoping with all my might that this will be localized, I’m also hoping for the return of some old favourites. Veemon and Terriermon alone would make this a must-have for me, and to think neither made it in the PSP version is mind-boggling.

  • konsama

Awesome and terrible news, for one it’s an expanded redigitize, which was an awesome game, on the other hand is going to a goddamn region locked console…

    • luckgandor

I wouldn’t label it terrible news (too) just yet. Digimon games for the DS were localized, so there’s a decent chance we’ll see this in NA too. The PSP version did quite well in Japan, selling 87,000 or so copies in the first week (which is very close to Rune Factory 4’s first week sales).

  • Guest

With Saban backing the English version of Xros Wars. I wonder if this mean there’s a good chance of this game coming state side.

  • Ricardo C

If NOA wont release Fatal Frame I doubt this will get released but a part of me wants to trust NOA again but… I just cant. After all NOA has done for the Wii making NA miss out on horror games like Fatal Frame and Night of Sacrifice I really doubt it. I heard Namco Bandai is lazy with localization too. I really want to have faith in NA localization once more but I just cant. Please help this come out Saban. Im begging you :(

    • Ricardo C

anyway, I hope this has online support, fight people locally, and can trade Digimon (I dont remember if the PSP version lets you do that).

      • Ricardo C

Scratch the “trading” part. I got this mixed up with the other DS games.

        • Renaldi Saputra

trading digimon?? well, this is not a pokemon nor digimon story game :p

          • Ricardo C

I know, I totally forgot that you only have 1 Digimon for re:Digitized while in the other games (Digimon World DS, Dawn, and Dusk) you can trade Digimon because you can have up to 40 Digimon.

    • Mauricio Guaura

Iwata’s new strategy is to bring as many japanese games as possible to the us/eu.
      Don’t worry :D

      • Ash Sora

Wait he said that? Go Iwata!

      • Ricardo C

        I hope so! :D

      • Solomon_Kano

Yea, but I doubt Iwata’s gonna help bring a Pokemon competitor. Still, I don’t think we’ll need Ninty’s help for this one. With a Digimon show bring back on the air in the US soon, there’s a much higher chance that we see this.

        • Renaldi Saputra

but several digimon games in DS were localized..
so I think it’s still possible

          • Solomon_Kano

Without Nintendo’s help. That’s the key point. If this comes, it won’t be with any help from Nintendo.

The chances have increased due to it being on 3DS and Digimon returning to US airwaves, but it’s entirely on Namdai. So it’s very possible, I’m just saying Nintendo won’t help.

          • Renaldi Saputra

how about those Digimon Story series + Championship??
how did they got localized? was it with Nintendo’s Help??
and in that time, had Digimon been entirely on Namdai??

          • Solomon_Kano

Yea, those were entirely on Namdai. Namdai’s always handled bringing the games over on their own terms. Early into the DS life cycle we got most of the Digimon games, just as we got most if not all of the PS2 ones. If this game comes, it won’t be with help from Nintendo.

That said, again, Namdai is more likely to localize this now that we’ll have a Digimon show on again.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

And yet for this year, Bandai is bringing both Tales of Xilia and Ni no Kuni.
Please don’t be overly negative here.
And why are you asking NOA here? It all depends to Bamco here.

      • Nitraion

Hmm don’t forget that project x zone news lol

  • Europe release, please. I loved the PSX Digimon-series so much. The hope dies last!

  • Ixbran

why does the main character have a metal bra on his head?

  • Will Jay

Anyway, the Xros Wars dub comes out this fall, not too hard to imagine Namco Bandai bringing this over as well.

    • Ash Sora

      I thought Nick said April

      • Steven Higgins

It’s gonna be on Nick? Huh I thought, given their history with the series, Disney XD would be picking it up. And I think all previous seasons/series have premired in the Spring/Summer so yeah, April is the better bet.

      • Will Jay

        Huh, really?

And oh god great, now the series is going to take FOUR YEARS to air completely, unless they bundle or splice together a ton of episodes into hour long specials and such. That’s just grand.

  • kaizin

best news i have seen all day i hope this gets localized

  • Ash Sora

Considering Fusion airs soon in the states I have a feeling we will get this compared to when we had no series airing and new games came out. Good promotion for the series this way.

    • Right. When does that air again?

  • cloudcaelum

Man, if localization happen. I swear to God, i will buy 3DS!

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

You better prepare your wallet then.^_^ Bamco have been on a roll recently. Hope their roll won’t stop before this series lol.^_^

    • raitouniverse

Nintendo did say that they’ll start helping Japanese third parties get their games localized. And since they’re buddy-buddy with Namco Bandai as of late, it doesn’t seem too far off.

  • Despite a mere 3DS port of the original PSP version, this is good news for American Digimon fans. Chances now have increased that this could make it indeed for English localization.

    • Not by much, but I do wish it would come.

  • Renaldi Saputra

with this being made on 3DS, it means chance of localization isn’t 1% anymore..
and just to remind anyone who thought that this Re:Digitize Decode was the announcement they mentioned on 21st february, it’s totally wrong..
because the announcement said a ‘new game’ while this is a remake of PSP version.. so don’t be misunderstood..

    • No this is the new game. Ishaan said so even.

      • Renaldi Saputra

but it won’t be revealed until 21st February..
is this their 4th project for sure?

        • Yes because it was leaked early.

          • Renaldi Saputra

so it’s all true that Bamco only made 3 game projects (which Decode is still a part of re:digitize)
            Now I understand

  • Lamentful X-Antibody event: Shades of Digimon X-Evolution CG film, anyone?

  • Christopher Nunes

I feel somewhat cheated since I got the PSP version since it’s region-free and I love Digimon, but seeing an enchanted version that includes Dorumon finally as a Digimon partner makes me a happy camper as I love Dorumon! Though bummed on not getting him on the PSP version I might just import a Japanese 3DS so I can play Digimon World Re:Digitize Decoded.

I hate that the 3DS is regional locked, but I hope Namco localizes this version! I want it so bad! T_T

I also hope Alphamon is also available as Dorumon’s digivolved form as well!

    Digimon forever!

    • Vash bane

lol i agree i too have the psp version that would be cool if this gets a port side release :)
…i cant help feel like this version has elements from the movie

  • Learii

i don’t care if is on psp, psvita or 3DS is not like is coming to the west

    • Herok♞

your kidding right? Now that the game is on 3DS we have a lot better chance of getting it since most digimon games get released in the U.S. and since Fusion is coming out this year we will likely get the games based on that as well, we didn’t get this or the adventure games because the psp is beyond dead in the U.S. market.

      • Christopher Nunes

The only Digimon game on a Nintendo console that wasn’t released was Digimon: Lost Evolution. Just saying… true the other DS Digimon games came out, including Digimon Champions (that came before Lost Evolution and didn’t sell well… I liked it, but I wanted a more DW1-like Digimon game), so it’s possible it can come over or not.

        Crossing my fingers and praying.

        • Ricardo C

You forgot about the two Xross Wars games but yeah…

          • Christopher Nunes

Oh… those two, yeah… forgot about them.

          • Renaldi Saputra

well, US haven’t aired Xros so it’s reasonable that those Xros games weren’t localized.. remember that Digimon Savers Another Mission A.K.A. Data Squad got localized bcos Digimon Savers had aired in US

      • Learii

i not kidding actully i not sure if 3DS gota better chance or not but i don’t see much digimon games come to the west lately, true that psp is dead in U.S market but that didn’t mean they can’t put the games on PSN to download from vita

        • Herok♞

the thing is if they but them one PSN it would require translation. we do get almost all the digimon games heres a list to show you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Digimon_video_games

          • Learii

actully they don’t need translation tey can just put sub-tittle likethey did on One Piece Priate warriors

  • Beta

Please localize this! We don’t want to go over patents again… T.T

  • gustinex

    I wanted rumble arena 3 =(

  • Vitonofrio del Rosso

instead or republishing it for another platform, how about localizing it?

  • Σωτηρης Λουκερης

    (I need Nintendo 3DS NOW)

  • Oltheros

What I dislike about Namco is that they’re really selective in what they localize. I hope this makes it though, I would love to experience digimon again

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

50/50 chance we will see this state side

  • Steven Higgins

When the question was “Will we get Digimon World Re:Digitize overseas?” the answer was “No”.
When we asked if America would get Digimon Andventure PSP, The answer was still “No”.
Now we ask “Will Digimon World Re: Digitize: Decode be localized?” This time the answer is a very firm “Maybe”.

    • Renaldi Saputra

but I feel kinda awkward if we can only play the sequel of re:digitize in english without knowing the prologue..
It’s just like as if watching digimon adventure 02 without knowing digimon adventure

      • Its a port of R:D IIRC.

      • Steven Higgins

It’s not a sequel. It’s an enhanced port. It has the same story but with some extras. Like the International versions of Final Fantasy games or the Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts games.

  • tha_Chiller

Signature is up for anyone starting a petition if this isn’t localized soon enough

  • Renaldi Saputra

looks like we gonna have a new character.. there’s someone beside Yuuya but still in shadow and it seems like a female one with a partner that seem like vmon
oh well, so vmon will take a role finaly
and we gonna have grapleomon and saberleomon as playable digimon

  • Bring it to America!

  • Arran
