How much are 32gb cards in Japan?

    • Syn

They should be slightly more expensive than in the US, that or they are around the same price, am not too sure, either way, even though I got one, the price is still way to high.

      • TiredOfMyOldUsername

Right now 8000 yen = around 85.3$ USD which mean peoples in US pay almost 15$ more for a 32GB memory card.
Edit: i thought the price Heartless said above was the correct price, but the correct price is 9500 yen which come to around 102.4$ currently.

    • heartless141

8000 yen is what i paid for mine/

  • Syn

Now this should be made into a standard package, cos I dont see any other reason not to get the Vita if this was a standard package

    • Peeka Chu

This could very well be their next price shift. $249.99 with wifi and a 32 GB card, $200 without. I’d still say to pack a 4GB card in with the lower end model though, all systems need something.

Oh, and in case it wasn’t clear, the rest of the world will be getting a price drop too. That much is certain. Its just a matter of when the announcement is made (likely this week).

      • Syn

Agreed, creating a series of packages with different mem sizes to cater to different groups of people and other system versions would be an ideal way to go, at the very least, it would deal with one of the major gripes of purchasing a Vita.

      • Sadly the packaged memory looks to be the 3g vita only, not wifi. So you aren’t getting a deal on memory if you choose the vita without a payment plan.

        • Doesn’t the 3G Vita /also/ have Wi-Fi? I’m very certain the 3G model is literally 3G/Wi-Fi. There’s no 3G-only one. That’d be pretty silly to have given the download cap limit on 3G.

          • Locklear93

That’s correct. 3G has Wifi and GPS. Wifi doesn’t have 3G or GPS (IIRC it uses wireless networks for locating, similar to the non-GPS option on phones).

        • In fact they even show the picture right here! 3G/Wi-Fi with 32GB card.

        • Peeka Chu

3G and wifi are the same price now (in Japan); they’re probably just flushing out the stock.

          • ronin4life

One would think… except the new soul sacrifice bundle is wifi only.

…and comes with a 4gb card, pouch, ear buds and cloth… and a game. At the same price as this.

      • Testsubject909

There’s always the starter kit which is appreciable for anyone who’ll be getting a new Vita.

Screen protector, carrying case, game cartridge carrying case, cleaning microfiber tissue, 4GB memory card and headphones. All quite useful and much cheaper then if any of those items were purchased separately. It’s closer to purchasing the screen protector and carrying case and getting the rest as extra.

  • This is pretty much exactly what they should’ve done in the first place.

That and make the 32GB cards $50 at the least, but that’s neither here nor there. Good on them though for making a more affordable bundle about it though.

    • Sergio Briceño

I kind of understand why they took so long, from a Nintendo logic, lol.

The 3DS cut it’s price when the Vita was about to be released for about the same price, and it became a best selling console since.

The Vita now cuts it’s price because the 3DS is having it’s first good year in terms of games, so they can’t let the gap between them grow even larger.

But yeah, while that justifies the move just now, it’s true they should have done this long ago, I agree with you.

      • Nivans

First? Did you completely skipped last year? Nintendo pulled their pants up and released so much for the 3DS last year, not only that but this year is looking to have even more that last.

        • Locklear93

Different people like different games, that’s all. For me, Code of Princess was the only game of interest last year on 3DS, for example.

          • Nivans

That doesn’t mean that Nintendo didn’t release a bunch of First Party games in just one year, because that is a fact. As well as a bunch of 3rd party, not to mention that sales have been beyond good. So i’m just commenting on your comment, “because the 3DS is having it’s first good year, in terms of games” which is a crude generalization

          • Locklear93

I disagree. All the games in the world don’t make it a good year if none interest the player. I WILL agree that his (and my) definition of “a good year in terms of games” is highly subjective, but that’s true of anyone.

    • Ari Nusbaum

$50 at the least or at the most 0_o

      • I’d /prefer/ it to be $50, but I’d be good for any price long as it was under $65 at this point.

        • Testsubject909

What if it was square on 65$?

        • Ari Nusbaum

          I understand!

  • tubers

3G and Wifi to 199.99? I’ve got a feeling they’ll be discontinuing the 3G when it sells out… Hopefully it means the reverse (Wifi only gets discontinued).

    3G VITA + 32 GB = 249.99 for the West

    Make it happen! :D

  • LinkofCourage

These are the kind of bundles Sony needs to release in the West.

  • It’s a shame we won’t be getting a bundle like this in the US.

  • eilegz

sony UNLOCKED 3G would be great docomo and ATT are ot only carriers in this world…

  • I’m a little perplexed at the excitement over the 3G price drop. It’s $100 less but you still have to pay extra for a data plan (…and it’s not 4G). If they sold the Wifi model WITH a decent sized card for $200 then we’d be talking :)

    • The 32GB card is currently the biggest card, and it’s more a $150 price drop, since a 3G Vita with a 32GB memory card would come out to around $400 equivalent.

So, yes, the fact that they’ve slashed $150 off of the most expensive model of the Vita and have put in the biggest memory card they have into it for that price is exciting.

      • Testsubject909

        32GB is 150$?

I’m pretty sure I saw it for 99… Hmm… I need to recheck my information. but I am pretty damn sure I saw it for 99$ at my EBgame…

  • Steven Heryanto

Surprisingly I do not hear any rant from early purchasers. I think they deserve several free PSN games.

    • AyaisMUsikWhore

I’m not mad, I have ps+ so there goes all my free games. But I would like to have even more than there is so, this will make it more worthwhile for other to have making me happy

    • I think I’m more happy about the prospect of more people buying the system than anything else. As long as the Vita manages to climb up and motivate more developers to make games for it, nothing can replace that.

    • You can’t be an early adopter without bending over. That’s just the way this business works.

    • Watahashi

Well, they didn’t drop the price less than 6 months after release. People were upset with Nintendo because it was such a significant drop, and it happened so suddenly.

      • Steven Heryanto

        ah thanks for the reminder

    • Hinataharem

I don’t deserve anything. I paid for what I got at the time. Now, I wouldn’t say no if they offered, but I am in no way entitled.

    • Testsubject909

      I… don’t care?

I bought a Vita. I enjoyed all the games I purchased on it to date.

I feel I got my money’s worth… Or are you trying to compare the situation to the 3DS price drop situation?

  • Rise Shinning Vita!!!!

  • AyaisMUsikWhore

You guys are literally the only blog to report this. I have no idea what that conversation is of the top of my head but this is a smart move. It seems they’ve reached the equilibrium and can risk to do this. This bundle is great and should be global. Stuff like this shouldn’t stay in Japan only. Hopefully Sony gets that stuff like this should be a trial everywhere in the world

    • Yeah, I’ve noticed this. I checked Joystiq and there’s literally no mention of it. I wonder why no one’s made note of it? It’s a pretty excellent bundle.

    • Testsubject909

Sony is in need of a more aggressive marketing strategy…

I’m still irritated they did nearly nothing to advertise their 1 week early first batch release sale on VALENTINE day. And nothing. It’s an occasion, at least some advertisement is better then just putting up a singular statement somewhere…

  • MrRobbyM

If Sony can bring this price cut to the US and localize some darn games for the thing I might just pick up a Vita instead of a 3DS this year.

  • The Vita price cut was coming, we all knew that, but what Sony needs to do is drop the prices of the memory cards.

    • Testsubject909

Speaking of which. Is it just me or is there a bad miss here. Right under the article there’s the usual game shops suggesting me purchases that I occasionally just glance at to know what the prices are and… From my personal memories of having gone over to an EBgame and looking up the prices for the memory card, why is it trying to sell me a 32GB at double the normal price of one you can get new at EBgame?

  • Lucky! *o* Aww, I only have an 8GB card, which I thought would hold more than enough games, music, videos etc. but no. TT_TT
