New DmC Devil May Cry Video Is All Vergil

By Spencer . February 20, 2013 . 1:32am

Update: U.S. and European release dates announced, along with price. Details here.

DmC Devil May Cry will get a downloadable content pack that makes Dante’s twin brother, Vergil, a playable character. Vergil’s Downfall explains what happened to Vergil in DmC, which we probably shouldn’t spoil here. The extra scenario has new enemies and Vergil has a different fighting style somewhat reminiscent of his Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 moveset.

Vergil’s Downfall will be available later this month for on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Hmm… In the last shot of the trailer you can see what looks to be a frightened Eva. Interesting, I wonder if this DLC will involve the Angels at all… I’m a bit disappointed by how underutilized they were in DmC. Regardless, it definitely means there’s gonna be some new story stuff in the DLC, which I knew would be in, but I was still a tad worried about. XD

Also, it might be the sleep deprivation, but Vergil’s looking speedier than I remember. I like it! Only one more week to wait…

    • Syn

I agree with you, he looks a little more……….ummmm how can put this, Anime-ish, I like the design, and I cannot wait to use him as he looks wicked deadly with his moves, the combat in this game is fantastic!!!

  • Solomon_Kano

I got rid of the game already, but I’ll rent it to play this. Interested in seeing more of Vergil.

I pre-ordered it so I got the DLC for free, but I don’t know how the flying hell I’m supposed to get it. GameStop gave me a code that isn’t in the format of PSN’s codes, but their instructions on how to redeem it says to input it through PSN. Which did nothing. Gonna suck if I end up with nothing.

    • Asura

You typically redeem GS codes through redeem codes under your account details.

      • Solomon_Kano

Yea, that’s how the code for the weapon skin worked. The DLC one’s in a different format though.

    • Syn

Wait wha??? You already got rid of your pre-ordered game whose dlc youre trying to figure out how to unlock while planning on renting it?????? O_o

      • Solomon_Kano

Pre-ordered it at the last second, got the benefits, played it, liked it, didn’t like it enough to keep it, got rid of it a month later. I pre-ordered it because I was interested in getting the DLC as well. Not owning the game anymore doesn’t mean I’m not still interested in what happens in the DLC though. I mean, that’s what I pre-ordered for, so I’d still like to play it.

        • Syn

Ahhh, now that makes sense, didnt mean to imply you arent interested, was just a little confused by your phrasing at the beginning. Just to curb my ignorance, can you redeem DLC codes with a different copy of the game or is it specific to the copy of the game??

          • Solomon_Kano

It’s cool. I figured my wording might be a but off.

As for your question, the DLC code is independent of the game. You enter the code through PSN rather than the game itself, so you’re free to use it with more than one copy of the game. To be clear, the code itself is single use. Once you get your DLC it’s tied to your PSN and is available in your purchase history to re-download at your leisure on another system, if need be.

    • Herok♞

if you still have the code you have to go to the website, listed on the recipient and when you input the code capcom will send you the dlc when its released.

      • Solomon_Kano

Ordered it online and they sent me the code in an email, so the receipt didn’t come with a site. I’m assuming you’ve already done this, so is it Gamestop’s site or some special other site?

        Thank you as well!

  • heartless141

So flashy considering he did NOTHING in the story.

Dante, you must do this, as for me? i must hide!
Kat, Do this, and this, and also this!

    • piichan

      that’s what leaders do ( ̄ー ̄)

[MAYBE MINOR SPOILER] I love the game overall, but I was quite disappointed there were no scenarios where Dante and Vergil actively fight side-by-side. I was waiting for something like that the whole game from the moment you discover that Vergil aims to be a cooperative figure with his brother in this game and not a rival.

      • heartless141

well he did push a few computer buttons to help dante, that’s as far as you get.

    • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Well he did stabbed a demon while he was explaining Dante his origins.

      • lawl

      • heartless141

and the one when he was hacking the computer? that makes 2.

  • Herok♞

Looks really fun and satisfying, my only question is how long will this be and if will we be able to use Vergil in the Dante levels later.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. So looks like you alternate between heave blows and lighter ones with his sword, probably to act as a replacement for lacking Arbiter and Osiris. Could work, although I do wonder how his Angel teleportation works, if he always fires a sword and grapples towards it or what it is he does. Also interested in seeing some of the deleted monsters in this DLC, and seeing what was up with that woman. Maybe as someone here speculated, flashback to Eva? More build-up re: the angels? Maybe the angels will find Vergil and elevate him to their place and tell him to act as their agent, thereby giving him new powers and a chance to go after Earth again? I’m just hoping they’ll do ANYTHING with the angels, real dissapointed they never played a part in the plot.

  • Valtiel Ikari

don’t know about this, felt really underwelmed with the game, it’s just not as satisfaing as previous entries, every thing was so dam easy, might just give this chapter a chance, just to see if it’s an improvement

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Oh man I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the PC version.

  • Sergio Briceño

I still haven’t finished the campaign, because lately I’ve been more interested in reading Siliconera than gaming (for anything game related), it seems we have had a very interesting couple of weeks regarding gaming news.

So I still haven’t got to a Virgil boss fight, if there is any. But I must say, I’m liking him a lot more than the new Dante, even if I liked the old Virgil more than the old Dante.

So maybe, you guys have been right all this time, lol. I don’t think the new Dante sucks, though, but I do agree that it could have been a LOT better. Maybe if they at least used the term nephilim right, or down right retain his original origin and personality, I don’t know…

    • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

“because lately I’ve been more interested in reading Siliconera than gaming (for anything game related)”

      Siliconera: 1 Gaming: 0

  • TheExile285

If DmC had been about Vergil, i might have bought it

  • natchu96

So he just teleports when using Angel Lift, eh? Well, they’ve got to somehow compensate for the fact that he has only one weapon somehow, and since he’s been teleporting quite a lot I guess it works. I assume his Devil Trigger is the same as the game, though.

  • neetyneety

Looks like Vergil is varied and different enough from Dante to justify me getting this DLC. I knew I should have just pre-ordered.

  • Brent Hagley

DLC at this point is pointless for this game as sales are terrible and capcom is hurting from this. At this point I doubt a sequel will be coming for this game.

  • sd28

looks like it could be fun

  • Naruto

This is hinting at a sequel.
