Guild 02 Has Games From Keiji Inafune And Dragon Quest Programmer

By Spencer . February 21, 2013 . 12:06pm

Level-5 is continuing the Guild series, which has smaller games made by luminary designers. However, Guild 02 won’t be available in stores. Level-5 will release the three titles in Guild 02 as separate Nintendo eShop downloads for 800 yen ($8.61) a piece.

Monsters Come Out on Friday from My Summer Vacation maker Kazu Ayashi

Release Date: March 13

guild02-01 guild02-02

Sota, the protagonist in Monsters Come Out on Friday lives in a rural town where, like the title says, monsters suddenly come out on Friday. Why do monsters appear in this small town’s shopping centre? That’s the mystery players will find out in what Level-5 calls a "heartwarming drama."

Insect Tank from Keiji Inafune’s studio Comcept

Release Date: March 19

guild02-03 guild02-04

Insect Tank is like the opposite of Earth Defense Force. You fight "giant" ants in a teeny tiny tank. Players can customize their tank’s turret and body to make the best (mini) insect exterminator. Insect Tank also has a multiplayer mode that supports up to four tank drivers.

Spaceship Damrey from Dragon Quest programmer and True Night of the Kamaitachi developer Kazuya Asano

Release Date: March 27

guild02-05 guild02-06

This suspense adventure game starts with a crash. You rise without your memories and search the spaceship for a way to escape. Level-5 hasn’t released any details about how to play the game so users come in with a mental blank slate on the gameplay.

  • None of these games/developers are particularly high on my radar, but I definitely hope the Guild series continues.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Indeed. This whole Guild series idea is actually a very nice piece of idea. It allows many game developers or even in this case(Comedian or Artist) who had idea for game to come out with their dream game without too much of risk taken.^_^
Hell, i would love if there are some big companies game developers actually support this series.^_^

      • s07195

If the Guild series can spur ideas on like this, then I hope it continues.

  • kylehyde

Of all the game from Guild 02, the ones that I’m more interested is in Monsters Come Out on Friday from My Summer Vacation and Spaceship Damrey, specially the last one

  • Looks like they learnt a thing or two from Guild 01.

    • Ethan_Twain

What do you mean by that? What makes this package look better than the last one? Just the new distribution method?

      • Ah, no, I just meant they’re going straight to eShop this time, instead of retail first. The first set of games must’ve been well-received if they’re doing this. A friend at Level 5 said he was happy with Liberation Maiden sales in the west, too.

        • riceisnice

I guessed her giant butt helped pulled in sales.

        • Ethan_Twain

Oooh, Ishaan with the inside sources :)

It’s good to hear that though – I don’t see any of these games being particularly ill suited to a Western market like the game about selling weapons was so if sales were pleasing on previous eShop releases then that bodes well for these releases. Monsters Come Out on Friday catches my eye in particular for the sort of idyllic, innocent setting. Not too many games like that… it reminds me of Kiki’s Delivery Service kinda. Or Earthbound.

        • Ferofax

Well, I’m not surprised, Liberation Maiden was quite awesome for an eShop title. I do hope the Guild series proliferates as an outlet for amazing devs to do tiny amazing things.

  • Asclepius

looking forward to play the Friday Monster game! i really adore My Summer Vacation series even though i don’t quite understand japanese.. ==

also, i feel a little bit deja vu about the Insect Tank, and the Spaceship Damrey seemed to be like Dead Space of some sort.. still looking forward though!

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I like the fact that they’re not going to tell players the type of game they’re getting for Spaceship Damrey. Unfortunately, if this comes west, we’ll know then… stupid localization delays. =/

  • Brian

I have all of the Guild 01 games released in the west and I must say I enjoyed everyone of them. Can’t wait to play some guild 02, if they come to the N.A.

EDIT: also spaceship Damrey screenshots remind me of Virtues Last Reward in a way >.>

  • I’ll guess that Spaceship Damrey is a survivor horror. Looks creepy enough.

  • Solomon_Kano

Monsters Come Out on Friday and Spaceship Damrey sound like the games for me. Nice to see Inafune, but I’m more interested in Kaio. Wherever that is these days…

    • kylehyde

Yeah, I expected to see it in the direct. I guess we have to wait until the TGS.

      • Solomon_Kano

Well, E3 is possible. Inafune’s been a big proponent of creating games with global appeal, so perhaps he’ll have something to show for those of us beyond Japan at E3. TGS is most likely though.

  • Pedro Tavares

Inafune is working on 300 games, finish the important games you working on first please.

  • Monsters Come Out on Friday sounds really cool. I personally hope that the Guild series continues as we are receiving interesting games from it.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

The first and third game looks really interesting to me while for Inafking game is a bit bland. But if there are a lot of my friends had the game, it surely is going to be fun to play.
It will become like Tank Tank Tank but now we are fighting insect 100%.^_^

  • Ispheria

ehhh….not really interested in any of these like i was with Guild 01 (wanted liberation maiden and Crimson Shroud)

  • Ladius

I’m really looking forward to Spaceship Damrey, I hope Level 5 can release it and the other Guild 02 games on eShop like they did for Crimson Shround and Liberation Maiden.

    • Solomon_Kano

It says above that they’ll be eShop releases, so I’m assuming you mean localized?
