These 3DS systems include a 4GB SD Card rather than the standard 2GB that comes in most other 3DS units. With more downloadable titles being available on the market, this is a nice touch.

The Light Blue and Gloss Pink 3DS models will be released on March 20th in Japan, at a price of 15,000 yen ($162).

I’d rather have more 3DS XL colors to be perfectly honest. But I do like that they’re the same shades of pink blue as the DSi

  • kiu

Aren’t those the original colours of the Taiwan/HK 3ds? It’s nice to see other regions getting these colours too! I’m lovin’ that blue one… Hope it comes to the West as well!

I’m not sure about Europe, but I’m kind of doubting that America will get the Light Blue, unless they also decide to face out the Aqua Blue. I think they look too similar to have both on the market in the same region.

  • sakusakusakura_nyo

The original 3DS sucks. It doesn’t matter what color it is, the top screen will get scratched on the sides when you close it. Buy the XL instead.

    • Shane Guidaboni

They’re not scratches. It’s just wipeable lines. I’ve had my 3DS since day one and there’s no scratches on the top screen. I get the lines, but they’re wiped away easily with a cloth.

I never got any lines at all

      • sakusakusakura_nyo

I wiped the crap out of those lines and they never went away.

        • Shane Guidaboni

Hmm. I don’t know, then. I guess it varies.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

It is not scratches. It is just some lines which can be wiped. And the original 3DS is also more portable and the color is better than the XL ones.

The only problem is the battery and wi-fi connection is weaker compared to the XL version.

Hell, even some game actually played better on the original 3DS like Kid Icarus.

      • Quinton Cunningham

This is wrong. The launch models had much smaller stoppers on the top screen which did indeed lead to scratches. They fixed this in subsequent releases.
Source: I own a launch model and it’s top screen is scratched while my nephew has a newer model and not a single one.

I have those scratches too, wiping didn’t worked.

      This.

Hell I hate those vertical scratches on the sides and as time went by I can see my top screen got internal dust or something, it’s kinda annoying, I think the speakers are the culprit!

You people are crazy. I honestly can’t believe anyone is buying that gigantic XL. Glad to see some brighter colors for the original, I completely lost interest in the system after they discontinued the aqua.

    • Tom_Phoenix

The XL may be gigantic, but it also has improved backwards compatibility and better battery life. Plus, at least for some people, the larger screens are a selling point.

Aside from greater portability and maybe better form factor (I can see why some people think the XL looks ugly), there’s really no reason to buy the original 3DS over the XL.

except when it’s the limited edition fire emblem 3DS (which I got and very happy with :D)

“but it also has improved backwards compatibility”

I don’t have an XL so, what’s exactly improved?

But yeah, my 3ds is very scratched thanks to the low screen border things, I’d like a XL over my 3ds sometimes.

The size is part of the draw for me ^.^

I usually go straight for the pink but I’m really liking that blue. Kinda wish it was for the XL (>m< ) Otherwise nice colors~
