I love Dead Space (currently playing the 3rd one). But the fact of seeing Issac Clarke in this game is anything but attractive to me. Anyone else out there that failed to see the “Charm” out of Playstation Allstars? To me… it is mainly the non hook between the characters.

    • AkuLord3

      You’re not alone

    • I agree I was at work when I saw that Clarke would be on it and just last week I was thinking man I wonder how Clarke would handle in a fighting game and I’m surprised it happened. I don’t have All Stars yet but plan to soon. I did manage to download free Kat and Starhawk guy whose name escapes me.

    • JoJo_649

Especially him and The Big Daddy, they just feel incredibly out of place.

    • Ty Austin

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

My issues with All Stars lies with its unusual gameplay (I think they were trying a tad too hard not to be like Smash Bros.) and the fact that I have no real attachment to ANY of the characters in the current roster (I only ever played Crash on the PS2 when I was a kid and a touch of Spyro).

Of course, Activision is being a real huge bitch, and didn’t want Spyro and Crash in cheap, which hurts the game a tad, or a lot, depending on your view.

    • Mister_Nep

I’ve really enjoyed my time with the game. It’s basically a game about controlling the battle. It’s basically a combat of if you can be the main offensive player, and if you can manage your enemies and your own AP meter.

You combo to build your own meter, and you throw and use items to get rid of your opponents meter. The game is all about control. Not just controlling the character, but controlling as much of your opponent as possible. It’s a mind game of making him guess what you’re gonna do, and guessing how he’ll respond.

I’ve actually had lots of fun with Kat. She’s a very risk vs. reward character. Most of her moves are risky, because you can easily get blocked and countered by people, but if they land you can land a very long and meaty combo. Her greatest weakness is a low amount of projectiles, but she makes up for it for having lots of her melee attacks naturally string together with little difficulty. Not to mention her gravity attacks work as great combo extenders and ejectors. Even one of her grabs can be used to start a combo if you use a gravity attack. So in one set of movements you can take some of the enemies AP and build a whole bunch for yourself. So she’s a lot of fun if you enjoy combo characters. Plus it’s really satisfying linking her level 1 super from a gravity attack that the enemy can’t escape from.

So yeah the game gets addicting if you let it get its hooks in you. Just don’t think too deeply, and let yourself have fun.

  • Ty Austin

Because when I think of popular Playstation characters, I think of Isaac and Zeus. >_>

    • Detrimont

dont forget how big daddy is in the game, a character from a game originally made for 360

    • raymk

Look at the bright side, the stage looks good :D.

  • You also get them for free with God Of War: Ascension. Might wanna add that in.

  • At this point I’d kinda like to see half the characters from Playstation All-Stars being featured in something like Xbox All-Stars or PC All-Stars+.

    • >Implying Xbox has mascots

      • They’ve got the Master Chief and Gears of War, or Fable, to name a couple of franchises.

They can at least put up the same amount of exclusive heroes as PSASBR does, and fill the rest with all those multiplatform characters.

        • JoJo_649

Including Rare characters and LOL some of these game’s characters, microsoft could really pull it off, after all Big Daddy vs Master Chief makes a lot more sense than him fighting Kratos.

  • Hollowkoopa

I like Dead Space since i’m a big fan of TPS’s but what the point of adding Issac another gun character to the game that was already getting a lot of flank for having such high usage of gun characters. Zeus is fine because we needed more villains in the game (Heihachi may count as one)

The biggest problem that i have with All Star is the lack of characters that where part of the Playstation success. Where’s Crash, Lara, Snake, Cloud, Tidus, Spyro. i think you can even count Alucard in that regard.

Also instead of Issac you could put the king from Katamari. It would of fit better with Zeus since they are both gods.

    • PABLO Rapetti Perez

I think here the deal was to sell a lot with actual hot characters so their own franchises saw a boost. This is way I also love Super Smash, old characters including some I came to know because of the game (Nes, Im looking at you) get pampered.

Playstation All Stars feels like getting inside a party where no one knows anyone and it is all awkward Smash Bros feels like a family reunion… Nintendo has done a tremendous job to unite in many ways their franchises since their inception. Not trying to pull a fanboy(ism) here, I just feel this game in its own way… is very arrogant. I mean, it feels like someone said “just throw every Sony character that needs marketing, give them flashy moves and sell it”

      • JoJo_649

No, it’s actually pretty true, especially when they included so much advertising for unreleased (at the time) titles, when I was playing on the Bioshock Infinite stage and watched the Revengeance Metal Gear Ray, I just felt awkward and cheap propaganda, a shame they decided to go that way instead of basing an stage on Midgar from FF7 or the top of Outer Haven where Solid Snake faces his final battle against Liquid.
On comparison Smash include stuff from newer games (Spear Pillar, Lucario, Ike, Bridge of Eldin and F.L.U.D.D.) yet also incorporates old school (Mr Game and Watch, 75 m stage, Mario Bros (arcade) stage, Pit) really shows up when a game is made with enthusiasm as opposed to advertising.

  • So Issac is the crowd control character and zeus -_- is the ganondorf character of this game I like Isaac but i’m still gonna wait for better characters as of right night i’m only interested in like 3 or 4 characters i’m gonna hope and pray they c loud in this game and hopefully sora and alucard

  • OverlordZetta

Still waiting for some real all stars here.
Seriously, at least give us Tag.

  • Edzo

    oh thats a shame

  • Ben Sylvia

I WAS JOKING, I wasn’t serious when I said it would become God of War All Stars!
T.T Ultimately rather disappointing. Though I can’t wait to see that stage.

Edit: Maybe round 3 will let us see a Folklore or Demon’s/Dark Souls Character/Stage.
I’m also heavily expecting a Character or Stage from Soul Sacrifice. I can feel it in my bones.

EditEdit: And maybe a representative from Rogue’s Galaxy. Nearly forgot that one.

    • Göran Isacson

Folklore and Rogues Galaxy WOULD be pretty cool, and hey- those were Sony exclusive too!

Only problem is that I think they wouldn’t want to tangle with Level 5 for payment to use Rogues Galaxy, and Games Republic don’t exist so I don’t know who would have the rights for that game. Still, having Ellen or Keats in the game would be superboss.

  • Christopher Nunes

I’ve played this game at a GameStop store… and I wasn’t impressed with it actually. To me it wasn’t exactly fun and only Jak was worthy of a character I know from Sony, but I sometimes think of Crash when I think Sony.

Took me a while to figure the game out considering it was demo. Sadly it didn’t grab my attention and the “Super Gauge” to build to use a Kill Attack to finish an enemy off and get a point just… well it does remind me of Super Smash Bros. with this system but Smash always had this extra sense of “strategy” and danger of you reckless attack opponents and it doesn’t seem like the characters in All Stars have Recover moves.

I don’t know or how to explain… but I’m not interest in the game. A shame really, it could be a very good game but I didn’t like the fighting system in this one for some reason even if some of it is like Smash in a way.

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

This one functions more like a fighter in that combos are really big part of the game as they build meter for super attacks. In Smash, you don’t really need to use combos at low level play.

      • Christopher Nunes

I see… but it still doesn’t interest me for some reason, combos or not.

  • Strain42

I don’t mind seeing Issac here (and I’m not even a Dead Space fan, I just like seeing new characters) but seeing Zeus kinda puts me off guard. We already have a GOW character with Kratos. Now I know there’s no rule or law that you can’t have multiple characters from the same game/series in this game, but it’s just…there are so many other potentially amazing Playstation characters they could have put in without repeating games here.

I never thought I would be more excited by a level than by characters, but here we are.

Still, if these are like Kat and Emett where they’re free at first, I can’t think of any reason why I won’t pick them up.

    • raymk

The level is all I’m hyped for and it looks damn good.

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

So excited to play as these All-Stars…not, yet again another character that isn’t even PS3 exclusive. Zeus I can understand, he’s not exactly iconic though. Ugh I just don’t understand Sony/Santa Monica/Superbot, whoever it is now that overlooks the characters for the game

  • Spirit Macardi

This game has really been failing to gauge what its audience wants to see. People want more characters who were huge staples of the original PS1, and instead we’re getting characters from multiplatform games released just this generation and people who aren’t even the main characters of the series’ they’re from. It’s kind of sad to think that Sony is just that out-of-touch.

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

I think its because the characters that Sony can easily get, from the games and IPs they own, aren’t exactly the ones we knew the systems for. Sony’s games were the 3rd Party titles, and characters like Crash and Spyro, which they don’t have anymore.

      • Spirit Macardi

They clearly have nothing against getting third-party characters though. The problem is that they aren’t getting who the fans want to see, they’re getting who the advertisers want to see.

  • dahuuuundge

at this rate you might as well have Soap McTavish join the roster as well

    • Ben Sylvia

I’m glad I didn’t say this, or it would come true.

  • fearlubu

while i dont think these characters are good choices, i am liking their gameplay styles. the problem is that theyre 5usd each…FCUK that, yo! On the other hand, the medievil/unfinished swan stage looks pretty amazing.

  • doubleO7

They look fun to play, but I can’t help but feel disappointed that, given Sony’s incredible back-catalog of games, they decide to give us a 2nd character from a franchise already represented in the game and yet another character thats not even Playstation exclusive. I want to see more obscure characters get a time in the spotlight. Like, I dunno… Jennifer from Primal? Does anyone else even remember that underrated gem?
The new stages look great though.

    • Göran Isacson

Oh man, I too played Primal way back when! She would be cool too, and her shapeshifting could make for some cool combat… provided anyone even remembers her. And seeing as the roster here mostly seems like an opportunity to advertize new chars, I dunno how big her chances are to get in…

  • HerosLight

I question why they still haven’t added any character from an RPG series.

I wonder if Zeus and Isaac will be free to download for a week? :D

  • Kai2591

stasis. stomp. stomp. stomp. stasis. repeat.

  • XiaomuArisu

    Didnt expected that…
    Still awesome!
    But how about some classics?

  • Mister_Nep

You know I wasn’t interested in either character until I saw this video. Now I want both. Both look like lots of fun. So excited for the two of them.
