Nihilistic Was Working On A God Of War PS Home Space, Underwater Shooter

By Spencer . March 1, 2013 . 2:31pm

image Nihilistic the developer behind the canceled Starcraft: Ghost and a bunch of PlayStation Vita shooters were also working on a God of War space for PlayStation Home. Two resumes note the unreleased God of War PlayStation Home space, which had mini-games. Sony Computer Entertainment America later hired Nihilistic to created a Ratchet & Clank home space and later Nihilistic developed PlayStation Move: Heroes.

What else was Nihilistic working on? A LinkedIn profile reveals Nihilistic had a third person underwater shooter for PS3 and Xbox 360 called Deep Rift, a top down PS3/360 shooter called Alien Hunters, and an unreleased video game for the Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This demo reel from the VFX artist on those titles has a bit of Starcraft: Ghost at the end.

  • I think its general knowledge that these guys are banned from vita games. Though I do enjoy Black Ops Declassified. Most are upset with them for how bad the reviews got for Burning Skies and Declassified. I have to admit it is aggravating how the game crashes a lot during multiplayer but it is still really fun. I’ve been playing it while watching Star Trek DS9 on netflix. ^_^

The only minigames I know of in GoW are the off-screen sex QTEs, so if the PS Home space they were developing had anything to do with that, it would have certainly been enjoyable. Sony, you made the wrong call.

And it’s just a space and possibly a few minigames. Nihilistic isn’t a bad developer, their worse games have been PS exlusives though.

And since they have more or less become a first party developer for Sony for the past few years, then yeah they have been on a downhill since 2 years ago. So all in all, it’s just Sony making a bad move, first they ask Nihilistic to make games just for them and only the ones they know are likely to fail (Move Heroes, portable FPSs), then they give them their first “easy” job and decide they are not up to the task. Sony logic.

It’s just, people think FPSs are the greatest idea on the Vita, they could be right, but until proven otherwise Nihilistic hasn’t failed in my opinion, they’ve just tried to make a good portable FPS and that is commendable.

A Starcraft: Ghost stealth shooter developed with care, possibly starring Kerrigan, could still be exceptionally good.
