On Bitterblack Isle, one of the new areas in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Rift Crystals will play an important role in lighting up dungeons and restoring broken Rift Stones.

Rift Crystals are scattered across Bitterblack Isle and can be obtained from treasure chests, enemy drops or sometimes these items can be found on the field.

002

You may find remains of broken Rift Stones that are normally used to search for pawns. However, in this state they will not function properly.

003 004

No worries, by using Rift Crystals you can make Rift Stones as good as new!

005

Deep inside Dragon Dogma: Dark Arisen’s dungeons you may find unlit torches you can use to light the way. Continuing blindly in the dark will mean danger to you and the rest of the party.

006 007

Rift Crystals can be used illuminate torches. Not only will these improve visibility, but torches can also be used as a powerful weapon by shining a holy ray of light towards any nearby enemies.

Due to the additional uses of Rift Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, they’ll be found more commonly than they were in Gransys. However, you’ll still have to use them sparingly at times when your sources are low.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be released on April 23 in North America and April 26 in Europe.

Do not be fooled by the gameplay implications of this. They can also be bought as microtransactions and as such are nothing more but a built-in cash grab pay for power system.

Your right gamerdude, because having red skin and glasses does make you quite powerfull.

I think the ability to purchase rift crystals is just trolling. The most you can buy at once is 15,000 for 7 dollars, meanwhile I got 60,000 for having my pawn summoned once. Funnier still because they have a ring that costs 3,000,000 rift crystals that does nothing. On the other hand if you want the rift crystals for the colors you can buy the same 7 colors for 2 dollars they’re just a bit darker.

I’m just glad that RCs are not currencies for useless swag anymore. I mean I don’t even you them to hire high level pawns. What would be the fun in that?
