Soul Sacrifice Sees 76% Sell-Through In Launch Week

By Ishaan . March 18, 2013 . 11:50am

Last week, Sony released Soul Sacrifice—a multiplayer PlayStation Vita game inspired by the likes of Monster Hunter and other similar titles—in Japan. The game sold 114,446 copies in its first week on store shelves.

In their weekly software and hardware sales report, sales tracker Media Create share that Soul Sacrifice sold through 76% of its initial shipment. This includes both the regular edition as well as the dual packs that included two copies of the game.

This makes Soul Sacrifice the third PlayStation Vita game to sell over 100,000 copies in its first week, the other two being Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f and Persona 4: Golden.

Didn’t Senran Kagura sell 100000+ copies in it’s first week as well?

  • sunK1D

Wasn’t Senran Kagura the 3rd to break the 100k copies?

    • I thought it got 94,000, and the 100K was with downloads factored in. Could be wrong though.

      • Still very close and that’s an incredible mark even for that game. I think that PSO2 should have had more download but if people would prefer paying >_> ….alright boys bring out Phantasy Star Portable 3.

        • Now there’s a game I wouldn’t mind seeing!

    • @facebook-583868015:disqus @Whoomp:disqus What @twitter-222347240:disqus said. Retail sales were sub-100k. Download sales took it over that mark.

I think Sony likes to act as if Senran Kagura doesnt exist. I suppose its because it doesnt fit on Sony’s “HARDCOREE!!1!” target market.

And I can’t blame them, Vita is filling itselft with ecchi-otaku-niche games that sell 150.000 at much.

      • sunK1D

Well unlike all the other ecchi games out there, SK actually has solid game play and polish to back it up. I don’t think Sony is downplaying the game though, at least not in Japan. Heck they even showed a glimpse of it back in NY when they unveiled the PS4.

        • PoweredByHentai

That got me thinking. If the PS4 can stream its games onto the Vita, what about the Vita streaming its games to the PS4?

Playing Senran Kagura Shinovi VS on a big screen via the PS4 would be awesome.

          • sunK1D

Sure would and I really don’t see why the tech can’t work both ways. I guess we’ll know more at E3.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Not bad for initial numbers. Now to see how much the drop off will be for this week. I’m kinda hoping it does decent sales consistently for the next few months, but we’ll see…

  • jujubee88

Many more sequels, please. I yearn for it. Nay nay. I lust for it!

  • Samurai_Heart

After listening to the RedSunGamer podcast I am hyped for this hopefully my friends will get it as well or else, I’ll go sacrificing randoms =P

  • Listening to Redsungamers podcast. Been researching this game for ages. Can’t wait for it to release in Europe got my Vita ready. Soo happy SS is doing well.

    • Proves with proper advertising and prices for not only the games at $40 which was a smart move but also for hardware. This is a very great achievement and the game looks great.

  • G.

I thought Shinovi Versus sold over 100K in its first week there as well.

Also, while not sales (since it’s primarily F2P), PSO 2 counted something like 250k Vita users in the first few days.

    • Locklear93

Shinovi sold 90,000 some physical copies, and an additional 30,000 some digital. If the number above doesn’t include digital, that’d explain the discrepancy.

      • Something I want to point out is that it didn’t necessarily sell 30k as downloads. Media Create don’t include every single retailer in their estimates, and I know they don’t track Amazon. So MAQL’s number was probably Media Create + downloads + other non-MC-tracked stores.

  • ShadowDivz

Why is april so far away…

  • TheExile285

    70+% sell through

    Good? Average?

I hope it’s good and it keeps up.

    • malek86

It’s pretty standard for japanese releases.

  • brian

Does this game have a decently sized single player mode?

    • Andrew McDowell

The single player lasts 25-30 hours. But there will be dlc levels maps and bosses in future. The multiplayer aspect is awesome. I know this because I already have this game and it’s amazing

  • Vash bane

dont have a vita but will still buy this XD

  • looks great!

  • Elvick

Let’s hope it has some decent legs.
