MapleStory: The Girl’s Fate Is Coming To 3DS, But Only In Korea

By Spencer . March 22, 2013 . 4:00pm

imageNintendo of Korea and Nexon are partnering to make a brand new MapleStory game for Nintendo 3DS and it’s the first Korea exclusive title. MapleStory: The Girl’s Fate is an original story based on the popular online game. You play as a girl with a mysterious spirit inside her body and to dispel the spirit she goes on an adventure.

You will meet other characters that help you along the way and some characters will give you quests. MapleStory: The Girl’s Fate is an action RPG with sprite graphics. It’s designed to be easy to play with only one attack button. Pressing the button repeatedly does a combo. You can customize the heroine by selecting different skills and picking one of many weapons.

MapleStory: The Girl’s Fate has different worlds like a desert level with pyramids, sky world, and a sunken city. Early screenshots showed a grassy area too. Nintendo of Korea’s president Hiroyuki Fukuda said this game is the first time Nintendo of Korea released 3DS software exclusively for Korea.

MapleStory: The Girl’s Fate will be released on April 25 for 44,000 won ($39). Unlike the online game, the 3DS MapleStory title is a single player game.

  • So this is the 3rd 3DS I have to buy. I live in europe and I have to buy an american, a japanese and now a korean 3DS if I want to play all the games I’m interested in (not getting an european 3DS, because everything I want in english is out in america and than some). This is getting ridiculous.

    • Phoenix Wright

Don’t get it. There is no way that it will end up being worth it.

      • Honestly? I really enjoyed the DS game. It had extended control-and-gameplay features that made the overall experience much better. That aside, MapleStory is kind of the only MMORPG that I can stomach and I’ve became a fan of it in the passing years.

        • Phoenix Wright

Well I have played it since it began, and know that its gone down hill. But if you want to spend $300+ just to play this game, go ahead.

          • Ricewarrior

Funny thing is most people spend 300+ on that MMO every month.

At least Truner will spend 300 and have a 3DS to show for it instead of just gambling it all away on Gach, Cubes, or whatever crap they throw out in the cash shop.

Not saying it’s something I find worth investing on since personally, this a game based on a MMO that I find to be utter garbage but it is the lesser of two evils at the very least.

        • Cazar

I guess MapleStory is a good MMO if you like playing with a community full of 9 year-olds that beg their parents every day to buy them NX so they can be ‘cool’ in a game.

          • J_Joestar

replace NX with pretty much any other company specific currency and you’ve described like at least 80% of all free item mall based MMOs.

        • That’s the thing: because this is the 3rd 3DS I would buy, I have to go for cheap, used consoles. There’s no way I’m buying three brand new consoles, the price would be insane.

    • JonathanisPrimus

Rewarding a company for region-locking their platforms is the wrong message to send.

      • Missing out on a game you are interested in is a bad thing to do as a gamer.

  • Phoenix Wright

Interesting, but I’m not to excited for it. Maplestory has gone way downhill. And that “grassy area” is Mu Lung.

  • Draparde

i’d have gotten this had it come out in English, though it wasn’t on the top of my list of wants. it looked pretty interesting.

  • Christopher Nunes

Kinda sucks that don’t plan to release it in the US, it looks interesting.

Though I would LOVE to see a LaTale 3DS game that focus on the story and lore of LaTale and learn and rescue Iris. I really hope they finish Iris’ story in the MMO as it’s my favorite 2D MMORPG game at there.

I hope Maple Story: The Girl’s Fate does well.

  • Go2hell66

Pretty sure there was another maplestory title on DS which was also exclusive to korea

    • Wappuli

it was released in Japan too.

  • Phil

    Are they retarded!!!

  • echokanon

So do you need a Korea exclusive 3DS to play it? I remember 3DS has region lock

  • Desukoru

You translated the title wrong. It should be “The Girl of Fate”, not “The Girl’s Fate”.

  • komiko12

I would like Grand Chase to have a handheld version.

  • Guest

Then I can’t wait to be able to pirate it. If it’s planned in advance to be exclusive then couldn’t they have the decency to not region-lock it?

  • CJdaDJ

Aaaand this is why I play a PS Vita now…the freakin REGION LOCKING! Cmon Nintendo, its 2013…get in the digital age!
