Take Your Gods Eater Burst Equipment Into God Eater 2 Through Data Transfer

By Sato . March 26, 2013 . 3:40pm

This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals that God Eater 2 will support data transfer from Gods Eater Burst, allowing you to take items with you into the next Aragami-slaying adventure.

(For Vita, we’ve previously also reported a UMD passport feature, which will come into play for those that have played Gods Eater Burst through UMD on the PSP. Also, note that the download version of Gods Eater Burst on PlayStation Vita can only transfer data to the Vita version of God Eater 2.)

When starting a new game in God Eater 2, you’ll have the option to check the conditions of how many items you’ll be able to take from Gods Eater Burst. However, it will still require you to make a new character.

The amount of items you’ll be able to take to God Eater 2 will vary according to how much you’ve played before. Basically, the more you’ve played the previous title, the more items you’ll be able to take with you. There are conditions from your previous play through that will determine how many items you’ll be able to take, such as technique and multiplayer stats. For example, the amount of times you’ve finished a mission with an SSS rank or for every 1,000 enemies consumed with your God Arc, you’ll be allowed to take one item.

The items you’ll be able to transfer over are: blades, guns and armor. Some of the stats and skills of the equipment may also be changed accordingly.

God Eater 2 is slated to be released for PSP and PlayStation Vita in 2013.

  • interesting way of doing it, makes it so you feel somewhat rewarded for your past accomplishments but doesn’t give you a ridiculous advantage.

    • michel

There was a similar feature for Metal Gear Ac!d. When starting the second game, you could transfer a single card earned during the first. It gave you just a little advantage.

  • I know what my next PSN purchase will be. God Eater 2 is looking good!

  • TheExile285

    Please D3….. localize this….

    • ZEROthefirst

Anyone but D3, please. We would actually like the DLC to be released aside from the pre-order/few months later PSN, and this time function so everyone doesn’t have to go to hell and back to maybe get it to work.

      • TheExile285

at least they localized it though. you never know with Bamco, if a game is going to be localized.

If they localize it and we miss out on some DLC, I can live with that. I just want the game!

        • -_-

That’s what I thought with WKC2, but in June they’re closing our server only 18 months after launch. NEVER buy an online-multiplayer game from D3, they have no respect for their customers whatsoever.

          • TheExile285

            GE2 doesn’t have online though…

          • Tincho Kudos

It does have online in Vita version, not on PSP

          • TheExile285

No it doesn’t…. it has ad-hoc

          • Tincho Kudos

Yes you are right. I am sure I read here the game has online on the Vita version. This is a huge letdown :/

        • ZEROthefirst

I’m glad they localized the game, but I would much rather another team take it, such as XSEED like Dusean said above.

          • TheExile285

Xseed would be nice but I bet that have their hands full with all the stuff they have announced.

        • Relytgninroht

D3 is 95% owned by Namco though.

          • TheExile285

            Yeah, I know….

      • Maybe the company that has been localizing plenty of Vita games, God Eater 2 by XSEED. :D

      • Doesn’t Namco own D3?

        • ZEROthefirst

Yes D3 is a subsidiary branch of Namco Bandai, but D3 is more of it’s own publisher so Namco doesn’t really hold much with the things they do. So basically if Namco Bandai or D3 wanted the something, they would be going against each other in bids for the licensing rights.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

yes!!!! thats great I put a lot of blood sweat and more blood in to Burst. I hope to the gaming gods we see this in the west

  • Strid

I don’t get this out of a hunting game. Getting new stuff is part of the fun, to heck with my old stuff.

    • Syn

Well, atleast you dont have to get your old stuff all over again(which is not really new), you can now simply focus on the new stuff, like the boost hammer, new weapons from new Aragami etc, everyone wins.

      • Strid

Eh, that’s what I’m getting at, it’s part of the game if there is backtracking. I’d rather just start fresh. It’s not like it’ll take long since you already know how to play, where things drop, etc. But really, I thought this was a full new game, not like a Monster Hunter “upgrade” within the same generation. Had Tri stuff carried over to 3 Ult. I would have felt like I skipped past a rather sizable chunk of the game.

        • MXC

Yeah but think about it like this if the game is sorta like just a Game+ version where everythings the same except with just new stuff at the end why not use old data and skip straight to the new stuff?

          • Strid

I feel like what I said to Daniel applies rather well here too.

  • Curan_Altea

That’s pretty neat, It was rather difficult getting some of that stuff. Hopefully in case it doesn’t get localized save data from Gods Eater Burst will be able to transfer over to an imported copy of God Eater 2.

  • Lazulis

So my lvl 10 blades and shields will be carried over?! Hallelujah! My 100+ hours in this game is not reduced to nothing! Is this being brought over? I know there’s like no chance in hell the PSP version will though…

  • Rudy Soto

And no mention of the GEB Protagonist. Goddamnit.

    • MXC

I think it may be like the manga of GE2 said that the GEB Protagonist is just on a different long-term assignment with Lindow and Tsubaki(I think it was her too). He may (hopefully) show sometime in the latter part of the game. Xfingers!

  • Vash bane

damn so the MORE hours we play the more stuff get transferred and we must devour over 1000 times(I understand what its saying just that I cant type it out right lol) but ss eanking some missions were $#%@ing gay XD

but I barely played multiplayer unfortunately :/

  • FlameEmperor

I completely forgot about this game…….

  • neogeno

An interesting strategy to get people to continue playing GEB. Though its a bit ineffective as I never really stopped.

Also, kudos to the 3d modeler who had to upscale all of the carried over equipment.

  • Barrit

I played on the UMD version, not download version. If it does come over, I guess my 100+ hours mean nothing :( I know there’s a way to transfer your PSP saves onto your vita though.. I wonder if that will make a difference.

    • Syn

Simply download burst, use your save from the UMD version and viola, no loose strings when transferring data :)

      • Barrit

Thanks for the replies. I’ll give it a go no doubt when the game actually comes out here. I know there is a way to transfer the save from my PSP onto my Vita, as I have done it before for P3P. I’m just hoping there won’t be any issues since some PS3 games are not compatible with the saves of their digital counterparts. I hope this won’t be the case for this game.

    • MXC

I think you can use Media Go for that, seeing as you can manage savedata with it. Try looking in the games section and click on the savedata section. Get back to me on that would ya?

  • Ni

Did they said anything about the items being rank locked as when you transfered the GE data to Burst?

  • Abyan Haidar

Then my job is “SSS”-ing all of my remaining mission

  • Lester Paredes

    That’s cool.

  • “However, it will still require you to make a new character”
Umm, but I don’t remember what exactly the configurations I put for my character’s appearance were ._.

Will there be more variety? I hope there is. I want a better hairstyle than my current one :>

    • They are different ppl anyway (I guess), so go wild!

  • Elvick

Been meaning to pick up the original. Probably be the next PSP game I buy.

I hope we get this game, but it’s Namco right? They’e done nothing of note on Vita outside of Japan.

I think they’ve released some racing games or something, digital only, but they have sooooo many games in Japan to bring over and they’ve done so little. Not even the Vita version of a game they’re already localizing on PS3. -.-

If the GEB protagonist’s items are allowed to be carried over to the sequel, that also indirectly suggests that GEB and GE2’s protagonist aren’t the same person. If that does happen, I wonder how are they going to explain the protagonist starting from scratch?

  • Guest

This option of carrying over equipment indirectly suggests that the protagonists from GEB and GE2 might be the same person. If that does happen, I just hope that they don’t make a half-assed reason for the protagonist having to start over.

  • Ultraviolent

I just hope that the protagonist from GEB does get to have an appearance. I would be really disappointed if his/her superhuman accomplishments were just forgotten 3 years after.
