In Japan, Muramasa Rebirth’s Downloadable Episodes Are Like $5

By Spencer . March 29, 2013 . 12:44am

01_2 (2)Muramasa Rebirth has downloadable characters like a Nekomata and a farmer inspired by Harvest Moon. All of these extra characters have a different play style and they’re exclusive to the Vita version.

The DLC scenarios will be sold for 500 yen ($5.30) each in Japan. Aksys has not announced a US price for the extra scenarios. The Nekomata episode that lets players claw at youkai will be available soon.

    well at least they’re cheap

  • Hamaro

Now if only Amiami would send me my payment invoice so I can finally pay for the game.

  • So the game released with at least $20 worth of DLC? Yes certainly the definitive version :/

    • psycho_bandaid

Next generation gaming. Love it or hate it DLC is here to stay.

      • Strid

It has very little to do with “next generation gaming” and more to do with people being idiots.

    • AdachiTohru

      60$ the real game… Sad

      • Putitinme

No. The real game costs $40 even though the extra characters should of came with the game but that’s another story.

    • Calamity

Gotta vote with your wallet on this one.

    • Pyrofrost

It’s not like you need the DLC to experience the game, it’s just extras.

  • AnimusVox

I do want the Nekomata DLC, I’m not fond of the idea that the new additions are DLC but beggars can’t be chosers I suppose.

    • Aoshi00

I want all 4 DLCs and don’t mind the price so much, 500 yen each was what I anticipated and sounds reasonable, we’d probably have them for $4.99 on the US PSN.. If given the choice I would prefer paying 2,000 yen more to get a copy w/ all the DLC included on the Vita cartridge.. not sure how big these d/ls are, I’m worried my 16Gb memory card’s running out of room soon.. Wonder how long would it take for each DLC chapter to be rolled out, maybe 1 per month? I can’t wait to play this game using the earbuds :)

  • Honestly, you don’t even need the DLC in this game. Between the 108 swords, there’s plenty of variety to go around with Momohime and Kisuke alone, since each sword comes with its own special skill, and it takes effort to unlock them.

    • Prinnydoom

I am still missing 8 swords from my first play through. Consequence of that is that momohime and kisuke are LV 99 from trying to look for them.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I hope they’re planning a bundle pack off all the DLC together. But if not, I’ll still consider it.

  • Istillduno

And once again we ask why this content announced and shown off before the game’s release isn’t just in the game already.

I’ll just stick to my Wii version thanks.

    • Tien Ron

it’s just extra’s probably wasn’t even thought of back when the wii version was out

  • benhofb

Well, around 5 dollars isn’t too bad I suppose. Of course, I’d love for Aksys to include the DLC on the chip, but ya’know…

  • It would be great if they just sold them for $10 altogether and call it a day especially considering that each extra scenario is only two stages long. Who knows how this is going to play out once the game comes out stateside.

  • Thaddeus Phillips IV

I know there’s supposed to be a special edition of the game coming out for a higher price. If that version doesn’t include some sort of season pass to this content, then I won’t be interested.

All that said, I’m still super excited about this game being portable and on a Vita. I loved it originally so much that I would not even think twice about paying for more content, because it is a game that is full enough as it is, and I want to continue to play when I’ve finished it. That’s exactly the kind of game that I am happy to pay for extra DLC.

  • Ni

I’ll wait and see how this will be in the U.S.. If it is gonna be the same i’ll just buy the game and not get the DLCs.

  • DarthSithZero

I’m not really interested about the extra characters, for me having the game portable it’s already a win.

  • Neophoton

Don’t think I’ll be bothering with the DLC, but I like the revamped button mapping, new localization being promised, and the portability… so I’m still set for the game.

  • ShadowDivz

Im only getting the Nekomata so im good. MAYBE il get the she devil.

  • Prinny Dood

I heard the data is already on it just cant get to it unless you pay for it.

  • Lester Paredes

About 5 bucks for extra content? That sounds fair. to everyone who’s bitching about the DLC: C’mon? Really? Grow up. DLC is a sad fact of video games now. Plus, you don’t even have to buy it because the game is already complete. It’s not like they took out content just to sell it to you piece-meal. It’s all stuff that was never in the original game.

  • Elvick

Maybe Aksys will throw us a solid… doubt it, but whatever. The new translation, PHYSICAL release, and the portability is enough for me to buy this game.

Still don’t know why Vanillaware are doing this though. Why are they like the only company not adding new content to the game itself? Am I just missing the new content? I know there’s some tweaks to the game, like the jump button, but…

Every other Vita port, content wise, has been the best value. As far as I’ve seen anyway.

At least the game is still technically complete, it just won’t sell well to fans who don’t value having the same game portable and on a sexified screen.
