Gyrozetter, The RPG Where You Get EXP For Drifting

image "Dungeons" in Square Enix’s transforming car RPG, Gyrozetter: Wings of the Albatross, are streets you race on. You can drive around a track in vehicle mode, which plays kind of like a racing game. Generally, Gyrozetters move faster in vehicle (read: car) mode, but terrain like snowy or muddy roads affects how fast you move. Wagon type cars are better at handling rough terrain than sports cars.

You gain experience points for drifting and boost meter energy. Boosting gives you a temporary speed bump like using a mushroom in Super Mario Kart and also shakes off any enemies.

Gyrozetter: Wings of the Albatross lets players shift into Gyro (read: robot) mode at any time. There’s a little button on the touch screen to transform. When you need to move vertically up a map by climbing or if you spot a treasure chest you want to switch into Gyro mode. You can also body slam into enemies to do a preemptive attack against enemy mechas. While you’re in Gyro mode your speed is the same regardless of the terrain.

Gyrozetter: Wings of the Albatross is slated for release on June 13 for Nintendo 3DS.

That’s interesting~. I’m looking forward to seeing how the game does (and I hope it does well).

  • Blebleman

You guys should know that Gyrozetter is a kids’ arcade game. It’s literally a small arcade game made for shorter (not meaning little people) humans. It also plays like a kid’s game.

    • This isn’t the same game as the arcade Gyrozetter.

      • Blebleman

Glad to hear it, but I’ve seen people get real excited over the arcade version online, and they never really knew what it was.

It’s not for most of us. Hopefully the 3DS version’ll be a cute, light RPG, but it most certainly isn’t the next hardcore Squeenix game people are expecting.

You don’t need to afraid here.^_^ This game is surely going to be light hearted as even the anime is mostly only having fun each episodes.

  • Argama

Am I the only one hoping for this game to get localized~?
    It looks promising~

    • puchinri

    • pimpalicious

No you’re not, I’d like to play it.

    • I hope it does too. I love when SE actually uses their creativity to try something different.

If S-E is going to bring the anime to the West, i can see this game coming too after all, this game is one of S-E answers to Level-5 monopoly on child market there.^_^
And Drifting to increase my exp?…… Initial D anyone?^_^

  • PABLO Rapetti Perez

  • XypherCode

I really hope it does have a regular race mode of some kind! :)

  • Göran Isacson

A racing game RPG… I. I have no idea how that’ll play like, but I admit that I am intrigued. Maybe one will get double the XP if one multi-track drifts too?~

    • Check out Racing Lagoon by SE or the Tokyo Highway Battle series by Genki.

  • It’s been a while since I read about an SE game and got excited. It feels… fresh.
