By Ishaan . April 17, 2013 . 10:25am

Professor Layton’s final adventure is headed our way. Nintendo announced this morning that they will publish Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy in North America and Europe, as with the previous Layton games.

Europe will get the game first, sometime this year. North America will get Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy in 2014. The game has over 500 puzzles.

I think I speak for all EU gamers when I say: IT’S OUR TIME NOW!

  • Marcelo Gouvea

    Wait…so…that means…

    no Layton vs. Attorney? D=

    • porkiewpyne

      Yet. :P

    • IvanAzure

If you mean the title, it’s just a reference to how it was supposedly described by the Japanese team as “the last Layton adventure”. However I’m more inclined to believe it was only meant as “The conclusion of the second Layton saga.”, just like the Nintendo Direct said. ^^

      • Marcelo Gouvea

No, that’s not what I had in mind. It’s just, Layton vs. Attorney came first, right? In the end of 2012, while Layton Azran Legacy came out in 2013. I mean, it’s just hard for me to believe that a game released in 2012 would be localized after a game of the same series released in the following year.

        Did that happen before?

        • IvanAzure

Yeah, I can’t think of anything like that recently at least, so yeah, this might be a bad sign…

    Score:
    EU – 2
    US – 0

    • KingGunblader

US +1 for Shin Megami Tensei IV Limited Edition

Atlus itself makes that scores looks terrible lol.

Lets not start this because I can still make the case for the U.S. today like us having Soul Hackers, The SMT4 LE, Pikimin 3 release date, etc…

We still get Animal Crossing New Leaf first too

Nintendo Europe have been great these last few years. Long may it continue.

  • Ngoc Chim

    want layton vs attorney!

  • Eric Harris

Boy it’s tough for us Americans. What will we play til next year. Not a lot to chose from. SMTIV, Animal Crossing, Mario Golf, Mario & Luigi, Pokemon X, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda LTTP2, Project X Zone. What will we ever play til next year.

  • Natat

I… I still believe in Layton vs AA…

    • Zoozbuh

If that game actually gets localised, I will INSTANTLY go out and buy a 3DS XL D:

Either Lani Minella refuses to voice Luke in America, or the publishers want to keep Layton safe by releasing this game later.

  • Alex Sargeant

Again? Weird. I wonder if there’s something to do with the end of the year that NOE loves and NOA hates.

I just don’t see the benefit unless there’s something else releasing there you really want to avoid. Maybe NOA is concerned about the new consoles showing up and stealing attention?

last quarter, in the US especially, is when the AAA budget american games come out. I figure their thought process is related to that. Basically, they can’t really find any other time good enough to throw their games in and make optimal profit.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hmm. I think the main reason why Nintendo put this game on 2014 in U.S it to avoid tons of big games/consoles releasing at that time.
While, we know that Europe sometimes is left behind.(SadlyT_T)
Well, this does give more times to actually finish my 3DS Layton lol.^_^

  • anthony apduhan

Maybe after the release Layton Azran Legacy and Ace Attorney 5 then they will localize and release Layton vs Ace Attorney it’s business logic for both companies eh?

  • Tiramii

;3; 2014?! That’s too much of a wait for me.
