Wii Game Brings Gangnam Style, Wonder Girls, And Other K-pop Artists Together

By Spencer . April 19, 2013 . 2:42pm

"Dance is the Healing" for Sknoec, a Korean developer that’s making the only Wii game exclusive to Korea. Imagine Just Dance with K-pop songs and dance moves, that’s pretty much what K-Pop Dance Festival is.

Skonec pulled together artists like Wonder Girls, Kara, T-ara, Lee Hi, 2NE1, and of course Psy who is famous for "Gangnam Style." Here’s a list of songs confirmed for K-Pop Dance Festival:

"Fantastic Baby" from BigBang
"Mister" from Kara
"Roly Poly" from T-ara
"압구정 날라리" from Infinite Challenge hosts Lee Juk and Yoo Jae Suk
"Honey" from JYP
"10 Minutes" from Lee Hyo Ri
"Beautiful Night" from Beast
"1, 2, 3, 4" from Lee Hi
"I Don’t Care" from 2NE1
"Nobody" from Wonder Girls
"Gangnam Style" from Psy

There are a total of 26 songs in the game ranging from the 80’s, 90’s, and recent hits. K-Pop Dance Festival is slated for release on April 25.

Man, that’s an absolutely shameless Just Dance clone. It’s the exact same visual style …

    • I thought it was Just Dance at first ^.^;

  • Doctor Nebula

Just Dance + Dance Masters is this.

  • Visa Vang

(-_-;) Those move indicators makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

    • Argama

Yes they do, those are the actual steps for those particular K-pop songs~

    • Rohan Viajar

I get what you mean. they look confusing.

but they make sense when I take a look at it for a second time.

  • Argama

    No SNSD/Girls’ Generation songs~???

    • Paruku

Those are the confirmed songs. There are 15 left.

so I doubt they’d leave Snsd out, since it’s a big hit in Korea. :D

      • Sadly Girls Generation is not on the track:

        • Paruku

Aww… I thought since it’s so popular over there they’d put at least one of there songs. My bad. D:
Oh well, at least there are other great songs they selected! :D

        • Argama

They have an “SM” Difficulty mode, yet they don’t actually have a current gen SM artist song~

          • I know, it’s ironic, right?? Anyway, I don’t think this game would sell well in it’s homeland due to the lack of SNSD, and SuJu. Also it’s on Wii, not on PS3, 360, and Wii U so that’s not going to help the game a lot. There is a petition to get Ubisoft to make a Just Dance: K-pop edition. Maybe Ubisoft could get SNSD, SuJu songs on there if they make it.

  • Ami Susuka

    Wheres my Soshi!?

  • popo123

They should add BoA or Shinee songs so people can have real workout while dancing lol. And I hope they include SNSD songs as well as BoA, Shinee and F(x). I could probably perfect all of them if they do haha

    • Yes, I always thought BoA “Hurricane Venus” would make an excellent dancing workout. I would like to see SHINee “Lucifer” or “Ring ding dong” in there. This dancing game is missing Super Junior (how can you make a K-pop dancing game without Super Junior??), the song Bonamana and Mr. Simple would be excellent dancing songs to dance to. I don’t see TVXQ/DBSK in there too because “Mirotic” and “Keep your head down” would be an awesome dancing songs for a K-pop dancing game.

People are still making Wii games?

    • M’iau M’iaut

PS2 was getting sports games as late as the 2012 model year. Dance games were the last big sellers for the system and that market did not just up and move to the WiiU. Odd releases here and there for another year or two won’t be surprising.

    • The Wii launched in Korea later than other regions. They just got Mario Party 9 like last week.

  • neo_firenze

Oh, Skonec… why can’t you make another shmup instead. Homura and the Psyvariar games were so good, sad to see they’re not able to do a new shooter instead of a K-only dance game.

  • ToshiChan

    No Gee no sale.

    • ToshiChan

maybe even Shinee so I can hate dancing with a passion attempting Lucifer.

    • Haseyo

I’m so tired of hearing Gee at this point, as I’m sure the rest of Korea is too.

      • ToshiChan

I’m sick of Gangnam Style and Gentleman at this point, but that isn’t stopping anything is it.

    • Beside Gee, I want “The boys” to be in it. I got a cool DLC idea let’s call it Girls Generation: Soshified pack 1 and it should have:

      Run Devil Run
      Dancing Queen
      Into the new world

That would be a cool DLC

  • ddh819

are all wii games region locked?

    • yellowmage

Yes, but that can be worked around easily enough.

    • This is why I’m not happy with this, hopefully maybe the US version will be on 360 (making use of Kinect), PS3 (making use of Move) and also they need to add SNSD, SHINee, Super Junior, 4minute, Girl’s Day, Sistar, RaNia, U-KISS, 2PM, 2AM, and other K-pop group for the international version that are popular among current K-pop fans.

  • Sakurazaki

As far as I know, SM Entertainment (SNSD’s/SHINee company, etc.) doesn’t give any licensing rights to dance games.

Which is why you don’t see them here.

  • Whoa! Did I just read 90s hits? I’m a huge fan of the old school 90s Kpop growing up! not much into the newer stuff though.. I’m more curious to find out what other songs are on here now. I hope they add classics like “We Are The Future” and “Candy” by H.O.T, some Shinhwa, Sechs Kies, S.E.S, Fin.K.L, T.T.Ma, CLON, and definitely some Koyote! :D/

  • komiko12

It seems that 2NE1’s I don’t care would be fun and simple enough to dance to.

    • Ace.Of Hearts♥

SO true!! but I think ‘I Am the Best’ would be much more fun to dance too plus its kinda like an excercise kinda song

      • komiko12

Dunno about that.. Minzy and CL’s part at “I Am The Best” looks kind of hard.

    • Fire would’ve worked for a excellent 2NE1 song to dance to.

  • samael789

The article says there are 26 songs. There are not 26 songs listed. So why are people saying their favorite song/band isn’t included? They just might be. Unless you’re looking at a complete list somewhere else, you have no way to know who else is in the game.

It’s just like when a new fighting game is released “Aw man _______ isn’t in the game, that sucks. Guess I won’t buy it.” Or you know, you could wait until the entire roster is revealed? That might make more sense.

  • Ace.Of Hearts♥

*squeee!!* OMG Looks like my wiis not dead yet!!! yays!!! OMG LEE HI AND BIG BANG AND 2NE1 AND PSY!!! YG FAMILY!!!!! OMG *diehard kpop addict*….. it would be even more awesome if U-KISS were there.. or INFINITE… oh and P:S its not Beast, its actually B2ST :D

    • Leah Lawrence

ikr? Why no U-KISS or Infinite?? >< I don't think U-KISS is popular enough in Korea (they have more international fans after all) but wouldn't Man Man Ha Ni or Binguel Binguel in one of these dance games be AWESOME? :D

And actually B2ST is known as Beast now :D They changed their name~

  • Dylan

    No Girls Gen. NO SALE!

  • cj_iwakura

How they hell did these guys afford PSY but Andamiro couldn’t for Fiesta 2? Right Now was in an early build, then got removed.

  • Ronldbx6

No SNSD Girls Generation Songs? I love that group!

  • So is this only being released over in Korea? And is it possible to change the region on the game to make it work on an American Wii?

    • I would love to see that and they need to make one for PS3 and 360 with Kinect and Move support, I always thought if Ubisoft make and release a Just Dance: K-pop edition, it could help increases the chance of K-pop artists of breaking it into USA (some K-pop artists like 2NE1, SNSD, are working on a English-language album). I don’t know if this game would work in US, but a Just Dance: K-pop edition published by Ubisoft could get more people curious what is K-pop and before you know it, they become K-pop fans because of a k-pop dancing video game.

  • Yeah I heard about this this from Dramafever just now and Siliconera announce this 6 days ago. Oh my goodness, where was I??? I don’t know if this game will have a US release. Another problem is it’s for Wii only, no PS3 (what did they forgot Move), 360 (uh, hello Kinect), and Wii U. Also I don’t see SNSD, SHINee, Girl’s Day, Sistar, 4minute, and they chose Beautiful night from BEAST when Shock is more fitting for a dance song. From looking at the video on Dramafever, I don’t know if this game look any good compared to Dance Central and Just Dance. To be honest, I would prefer Ubisoft to make a Just Dance: K-pop edition with Harmonix developing the game. There is a petition to have Ubisoft to make this game for some of you that are not happy with this line-up, look up JUST DANCE: KPOP STYLE on Google and click on the third link. Sign the petition and Ubisoft can make it and it can be released on 360,PS3, and Wii U and should have songs from SNSD, SHINee, f(x), BoA, 4minute, and other K-pop songs you can think of that can make people dance to.
