Atlus have shared a TV commercial for Devil Survivor 2: Break Record in Japan that shows a glimpse of what looks like the game’s new animated cutscenes. Watch the short video below:

Devil Survivor 2: Break Record will be released on July 11th in Japan. It will include a brand new story in addition to the original game, as well as new elements in the original story. The game is also voiced now, similar to Devil Survivor: Overclocked.

  • Whoa I love the animation style

    • Visa Vang

You gotta go watch the anime. IT IS AWESOME.

      • Chiupon

        no. no it’s not LOL

do yourself a favor and just play the game. the anime is terribad generic fodder.

        • Visa Vang

I know how awesome the game is. I just like it how it’s totally different from the the PERSONA animation series which is a nice breather.

  • DesmaX

They look like Persona 2 Sprites

    • Sardorim

You’re a horrible person…. Devil Survivor 2 is still awesome, this just makes it even MORE awesome!

Quite frankly I’m surprised it hasn’t imploded upon itself due to Awesomeness Overload.

      • DesmaX

… Was I saying it’s bad? I like that style

        • People jumping to baseless assumptions on the net is a daily routine, sadly :/

        • Sardorim

Doesn’t change that this is far better than Persona 2’s style and they aren’t just Persona 2 sprites as you say. That’s an insult as you’re implying it’s outdated and there is no improvement over the Persona 2 sprites up to Devil Survivor 2 which isn’t true at all.

      • Xalsunwolf

        Calm down.

      • Control your passion or it’ll control you

    • Shane Guidaboni

When was the last time you saw Persona 2 sprites?

      • DesmaX

Of course the animation looks way more detailed, but I can notice some similarities, especially in their color saturation

        • Sardorim

Devil Survivor 2 looks nothing like that, it’s far better.

          • DesmaX

What I said is that the characters in the animation reminded me of the sprites in Persona 2, not the game itself.

            Was that hard to understand?

          • AkuLord3

I see what you mean, of course ignore the over zealous idiot. Getting butthurt over something that’s not an issue or a big deal

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Really love the vibe given from the cutscenes there.^_^ Madhouse indeed know what they are doing.^_^

    • DyLaN

I think those are CG cutscenes, not animated cutscenes so I don’t think Madhouse did it.

  • Keima88

Wow looks awesome, European and US release please!

    • Sardorim

Yes, yes! The West loves these games too! Send it over here and we shall buy it like we did with Devil Survivor, Devil Survivor 2, and Devil Survivor Overclock! And that’s just for the Devil Survivor stuff!

      • Keima88

Yeah I imported the ds versions of Devil survivor 1 and 2 from the states. Planning to buy Overclocked too when I have enough money.

  • Sardorim

Yes, Makoto! More Makoto is always an amazing thing!

  • Bruno Cesar

I believe this is just from the opening video animated by Kou Yoshinari, not animated cutscenes. From dengeki:

But eh, we’ll see. If there are new animated cutscenes like this in the game, it’s going to be glorious.

  • I don’t know… it looks kinda weird

  • Barrylocke89

The style looks pretty slick…but I’m going to miss the old opening, Mugen No Sekai.

  • Why does DS only appear on the 3DS?

    • LightZero

Because the 3DS has the user base just like the DS, PS1, and PS2 before it. Atlus generally supports the system with the best user base. Right now the 3DS is the king in Japan.

      • If only the dam 3DS wasn’t region locked

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

? Have any Atlus game released on 3DS never come here?(Or you are Europe here which i am sorry then.)
Atlus is almost 100% going to bring this game to U.S and Asia region for sure.

    • DesmaX

You just answered your own question

      Shin Megami Tensei DS

      • Not really

        • DesmaX

          SMT Nintendo DS

    • Well it appears on both DS and 3DS… but because it was designed for the dual screens in mind, and the name was meant to be a pun of sort (D)evil (S)urvivor. The same could be said for Devil Summoner (and Soul Hackers did come to 3DS, eh?)

  • Still excited for the game, but hmm, that animation style was different. Can’t say I didn’t like it though. My interest has been piqued.

  • vileBrenman

Ok Damn it with these new cut scenes and then the new scenario this is just begging me to buy. Ok Atlus you win I’ll buy a remake of the game that was released only a couple years ago

  • MrTyrant

Am i the only one who don’t like the animation style? man i thought they would be better. Kind of like the anime but with another company.

    • Damarius Wingfield

  • I’ll agree with people below in the fact that it looks weird, but it looks cool at the same time.

  • Torraint

    io <3
too bad i've finished the original game & have no spirit to replay the hundred hours i spent there

    • There is a second completely new story arc. I dunno if you care, or if it influences you to buy it or not.

  • Kai M

This might just forced me to buy a 3DS.

    • Do it. There are MANY great games beside this one too. SMTIV, SMT:DS:O, SMT:DS:SH, EOIV, KH3D. There are obviously more, but those are the ones that came immediately to my head.

  • DyLaN

I don’t think its correct to call it animated cutscene… I think its more like those pre-rendered cutscene like the ones in FE:Awakening.

Now I’m missing the anime OP….
    DO WANT.

  • Shinra

It is just me or the new logo hints that we may be fighting the Summer Triangle in the new scenario?

  • Why does the opening reminded me to 2DLive technology?
