  • Andrew Arndt

Looking at a late winter earl sprin release 2014 maybe or sooner for the west

  • Nightmesh

I like the song but couldn’t they have done something else besides walk around and float during during it. I mean when that guitar started to pick up I was expecting maybe some animated scenes with them fighting something. It just left a little to be desired that’s all. I do like the Logix(I like that name better for some reason) design.

  • DesmaX

… Ayesha opening was way more interesting.

Way to many cut-offs in this

  • Pretty good song, very unimpressive video, doesn’t have anything to do with surrealism either, just weak :/

    • SpecDotSign

      Same thing I was thinking.

    • AnimusVox

I wasn’t really sure what they were going for with the video.

  • Damarius Wingfield

    Once again……Dante?

    • MrTyrant

      You mean NOT DONTE.

      • Damarius Wingfield

        Classic dante!

        • puchinri

. . .He is a bit close there, isn’t he? With the red (“wild” theme), white hair and even the style.

    • Nitraion

Maybe nero’s son that has been kidnaped :/

  • Nitraion

Hmm is Escha somehow not human or it just her clothes….
If so I have Demon slayer and Demon Pun in my sleeve :V
Actually i like the opening because is not spoilerish

    • Spectacularity

I want to know as well.

  • JustThisOne

I kinda like it because I’m into crazy texture backgrounds. But I can see why others would be unimpressed.

  • Oh my God…the song totally has an Eastern European rock-vibe from this song….hahalove it! I like the visuals but yeah the characters floating wasn’t too great.

  • puchinri

Lol, what a completely different tone, from the get-go.

Hmm. Yeah. I felt it more with Ayesha’s OP. This one feels part quirky, part Ayesha/Dusk toned and then the rest feels somewhat generic anime/JRPG stuff.

Logy doesn’t look as good when animated either (but Hidari’s art is unf~). Also, I ship these two now.

    • SerendipityX

I noticed Logy looked a little…different animated. His smoking good looks were glossed over. He reminds me of the sleepy-headed guy from La Corda d’oro (I can’t remember his name.) XD

Edit: And does Escha have a tail? o.o

      • Kevadu

Escha has had a tail for a while. That’s something I noticed in early screens.

Well, I don’t think it’s literally a tail, more like some animal pelt tied around her waist. But it sure as heck looks like a tail…

        • M’iau M’iaut

And her beret looks like a dango.

      • puchinri

Yeah, haha, that’s a good way of putting it on both sentences.

She has that likke raccoon tail thing on her waist, yeah. Which was a curious choice in design that has caught my eye each time. (I did think it was a tail at first.)

  • Lemon

That slight blush, that hand ‘holding’…Is this hinting at the possibility of romance? Not gonna lie, I like my JRPGs with some romance in it. Doesn’t have to be excessive, but enough to get my shipper fantasies sailing.

    • Anime10121

Agreed, not gonna deny that I like a little romance in my JRPG’s too. Kinda sad to say, but that is probably the only reason I’m looking forward to this game (at least for now anyways). Havent been a big fan of the Atelier PS3 games I’ve played thus far, even though I want so badly to like them, but later this year when my monies a little better, I’m gonna try Totori, as I hear that’s one of the better games, and I’m hoping that’ll turn me into an Atelier’er :)

    • Niyari

iirc a couple of days ago i read something about the relationship between the two main characters. it was described as big brother-little sister

  • Japanese gypsy rock. I like. The video was a bit meh, but I’m looking forward to the game nonetheless.

  • Firekitty

Hmmmm…that’s ‘sharing the spotlight’? Seems to me like the cute girl got a lot more screentime….and a lot more, ah…interesting camera angles? ^_~ How about a little fanservice for us ladies in the audience?

But in all seriousness, this’ll be one of those openings I rarely skip. The song isn’t your usual OP fare, and the animation is cool without spoiling anything (Hello, Tales!), unless the final boss is a nifty background.

    • ShadowDivz

Is there enough ladies in the audience to warrant shirtless guys?
Im not trying to sound mean, thats an honest question

      • Fiora

For one of the few good shoujo-ish console game series, and one of the few JRPG series that lets you play as a female protagonist? Maybe it’s much me, but even with the moe, I’d be pretty surprised if the audience was even half male.

      • Firekitty

This series has a shoujo aesthetic. the Shoujo genre is for girls, so while there are a LOT of guys who love it for the cute girls and female-focused casts, they’re also well used to shirtless guys and yaoi fanservice directed at the actual intended demographic.

Besides, I’m not even asking for shirtless…how about we get some shots of Logix’s butt, since the camera seems to like focusing on Escha’s so much?

      • puchinri

Oh, I’m quite sure. I don’t think the Atelier series has a shortage of female fans at all (and especially since this is less lolibait than Arland, I think more females might feel like they’re not being cast aside/ignored).

      • equalequation

(Oops, I’m not sure why I thought this is a new post. In my sleepiness I read ’24 days ago’ as ’24 minutes ago’. Eep. IGNORE ME.)

Fanservice for girls doesn’t necessarily mean showing skin or needing beefcake-y shirtlessness, you know. Why else do you think guys in tightly buttoned suits are so popular in female-centric art over there? *wink*

But yeah, more Logix screentime, please. Atelier is a series with a lot of crosstalk with a female fanbase since the PS1 days, so there’s certainly enough of us. Maybe not *more* than the guys, but we’re not unsubstantial. They made an otoge borrowing the Atelier name, after all, surely there is a female audience.

    • puchinri

Haha, we could definitely use more (Logy) fanservice, agreed~!

I did like the song quite a bit. I was kind of sad that it didn’t have the same feel as Ayesha’s, but it has its own nice flare to it that I appreciate more now.

  • FetusZero

I’ll be part of the few who enjoyed it visually, though I must admit it didn’t feel as good as the previous game’s opening. I still want it nonetheless.

  • Alexander Aubert

the anime is diffrent from the teaser trailer, so does that mean there will be an animated cutscene in game? not only just opening movie anymore?

    • Spectacularity

For some reason I doubt that

  • Göran Isacson

Strange song, this one. Oddly discordant and suggestive for an Atelier-intro, felt like a far cry from it’s usual melodic fare. Wonder if it has any symbolic importance or they just felt like shaking things up?

  • AnimusVox

I was watching this without sound and I was listening to ‘Pink Floyd’ in the pack ground at work…I think I might go on an acid trip here in a minute.

  • yalissa

The opening is kind of… strange.
However, I really like the music. Nice to hear Chirinuruwowaka again.

  • Well that’s… kinda boring, to be honest. The background and textures are good and all, but they don’t do anything else other than walking and some floating. Should have made other characters to appear in the OP as well…

  • Higashi no Ame 東の雨

Not too much background but nice song.
Logy is not looking that agressive in the opening…
    although I will pick Logy.

  • Lazulis

From the screencap I thought it’d be like Avalon Code’s opening.

I was wrong. So so wrong. I like the music. What do the lyrics mean? I mean, the video is pretty meh (Logy your bishounen looks wut happen), but the lyrics could…make it…a little…better…maybe…

  • EtherealEarth

Escha has a cute tail <3!

  • Guest

The video is not as meh as it seems, though, the song is pretty good.

  • The music is different from the usual wind-based style, which has a freshness for the series, I suppose. The visuals didn’t tell anything though… Just the two leads walking with kaleidoscope-like backgrounds. The footage doesn’t have to spoil anything important in the story; just show some other things, like some side characters to help set up the premise.

    • M’iau M’iaut

Screams shojo anime. And dangit to hell where’s Pamela.

      • Come to think of it, Rune Factory Oceans also did that with Sonja’s opening sequence: Just her walking across patterned backgrounds with a Woolie.

      • puchinri

We definitely need more shoujo anime flavored openings for games~! (Well, I suppose we also need more games that would allow for such an opening.)

        • M’iau M’iaut

As I’ve already said, it is going to be Iris all over again. He’s a playa, she loves him unconditionally.

          • puchinri

Well, that gets subverted kind of hard in shoujo stuff, so if they do go that route, I wonder how that’ll end. x’D

I do want more games in general to take on a shoujo flair though. C’mon game devs, just embrace your inner shoujo manga-ka! (And stop channeling shounen all the blasted time.)

  • Kamille

don’t care about this Atelier because there is a male protagonist.

    • (๑◉_◉๑) I’m sorry but why? It’s not like they got rid of the female she still there and still cute as ever.

  • Higashi no Ame 東の雨

I thought it will be two seperate opening just like Tales of Xillia.

  • Kevin Schwarz

It looks boring, I was expecting something else, I guess.

  • TWE

Well, you’ve got your flowers here and there. That was a thing in the first game. Would have been nice if they took a page from Rune Factory Oceans and given each of them a focused opening.

  • I thought the opening was very nice. It looks like we’re in for a great game with this one =^_^=

  • Pichi

Love the song and the flower like designs were nice. Just wish it wasn’t a bit in the way on the characters sometimes.

  • MiyuEinzbern

ugh, please not a romance between the two title characters, I beg you Gust.

  • MiyuEinzbern

ugh, please not a romance between the two title characters, I beg you Gust. We need more variety, not preset romances.

  • The clock is ticking KT, you have one last chance to impress us after your previous failure.

get it right this time please.
