Batman Doesn’t Look Happy In This Batman: Arkham Origins Teaser

By Ishaan . May 16, 2013 . 10:50am

Warner Bros. have released a brief teaser trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins, the upcoming prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. It doesn’t show any gameplay, unfortunately—just a few seconds of Batman fighting Deathstroke.

Set shortly after the start of Batman’s activities in Gotham, Arkham Origins shows his early interactions with the police and his rogues gallery. The game takes place on Christmas Eve, and the world’s best assassins have gathered in Gotham to take the Batman down. Deathstroke is one of them.

Batman: Arkham Origins is slated for release worldwide on October 25th on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. Meanwhile, a side-scrolling Metroid-esque game titled Arkham City Origins: Blackgate is in development for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

Released the day before my birthday, I do believe I know what I’ll be asking for as a present.

Awesome looking trailer too, it’s nice to see Deathstroke is appearing in more DC media recently, fighting him looks like it’ll be fun.

    • I first saw DS in Teen Titans, then in Young Justice. Heard he’ll be in this up coming JLA animated movie Flashpoint Paradox based on the graphic novels.

  • Keima88

Batman. When did he ever looked happy?

    *looking on the internet*

OT: Deathstroke huh? I am more of a deadpool fan. Hmm need to see some gameplay first before deciding to get this game.

    • Ferrick

when batman smiles (which he does alot in JLU), you know that shit is going down

as for deathstroke, his fighting style is similar to deathpool’s (well more like deathpool’s fighting style is similar to deathstroke because he’s a parody of deathstroke made by marvel) but without the witty one liners and such

      • Kevin Schwarz

Too bad those witty one liners make deadpool fun as he is… but Batman has the joker, so nothing to worry about that.

The CG looks great! More fluent than those in AA and AC. The main thing is, we won’t know about the game until we see a gameplay video, then we can breath again.

      • I like Deadpool and Deathstroke, but if I had to choose who as cooler it’d have to be Deathstroke. Deadpool’s funny and can fight his ass off, but he’s like Joker with katana.

    • Solomon_Kano

The gameplay’s gonna be the same as the last game though. Just with new gadgets and (likely) some new takedowns. That’s what Arkham City was to AA, gameplay-wise.

  • Solomon_Kano

I really like Deathstroke’s look here. Looking forward to seeing the other assassins. I swear to gourd Merlyn better be in here, especially with Arrow on.

    • I heard some Justice League members may make cameos in the game. If Green Arrow shows, likely so will Merlyn.

      • Solomon_Kano

That was a rumor from before the game was revealed. The rumor also said that the game would be set in the Silver Age.

That said, Merlyn’s still likely. Deathstroke is one of 8 assassins in the game and they said the assassins come from across the DCU, so I’d say he’s got a good shot (literally too lol).

        • oh well, maybe they’ll have JLA character show in the game after this one. Mostly I love Bats, but I want Nightwing and Tim Drake to be in the story more.

          • Solomon_Kano

I’d have liked to see Dick and Tim, but this is set during year two, so Tim won’t be around. Dick might though.

          • you’re right, maybe we’ll see them in the sequel to AC. I like Robin (Grayson), but I prefer and see less of, Nightwing.

          • Solomon_Kano

I’m sure we’ll see Tim in an AC sequel since he showed up in AC briefly but, yea, I hope we see Dick too.

  • Z3

    Feels bat, man

  • Derek E Nay

    His parents are dead.

  • GHAmer

he will face many psychotic enemies
    while keeping his sanity intact
who will be happy from that LOL

    • That’s one thing that the Bat does that most Superheroes don’t. Almost all of Bruce’s foes are crazed. Some more than others, but almost all of them. Some say even Penguin and Black Mask are insane. Insane in that they lust for power and care nothing for most people.

  • Lzyslckr

This is a game trailer? It felt more like a movie trailer. The fight was too cool.

    • looked like real life too

  • DCBlackbird

I only read manga soooo I don’t know who any of these people are :/ ………………. no just kidding this ain’t facebook people are rational here and do not lash out…. but I gotta say Deathstroke looks a tad thin….

    • younger him, so he’s likely hasn’t built up as much muscle yet.

  • colorblindnightmare

Is it bad that I kinda want ron perlman to voice deathstroke? I started watching Teen Titans again and he just nails the part. Just saying.

    • I agree. Ron Perlman was great at the job. The guy who voiced him in Young Justice was pretty good too. I know TTs had it’s ups and downs but I liked the more serious episodes. Like the ones about Trigon, Deathstroke, and Terra. They were going to do a TT animated movie called the Judas Contract, but they tabled the idea.

    • Solomon_Kano

Not bad at all! I would love to see Perlman return to the role.

    • DCBlackbird

I like the voice a ton I just don’t like the come in and say “robin” with the hands behind his back deathstroke

  • Batman’s always been a badass! I reserved this game and it looks like it’ll be pretty sweet. Even from that short couple of scenes I can say I love that they’re still showing fight scenes. A lot of game developers know that people like to be in the driver’s seat most of the time, but I personally don’t mind seeing something like this and not being able to control it. Just watching it play out is cool enough. Some RPGs (my fav genre) used to never show martial arts outside of battle. But some now-a-days have started to. While, sadly, some have ditched it all together like a fad.
