I’m quite surprised they acknowledged Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. With that said, that short clip got me hyped up only to suddenly end. LOL

    • Anime10121

If you’re surprised at the acknowledgement of DotNW (I thought it was pretty good, loved Emil and Marta), I’m more surprised at Radiant Mythology getting some. That game was the only Tales game I’ve never liked. I bought the game and just could not get into it. I’ve heard the sequels were much better, but we never got the sequels so… yeah.

      • Morricane

        Wait, you liked Tempest? :D

        • Anime10121

Never released in America so I wouldnt know, the only import I’ve played is Innocence for the DS (with English patch) and I didnt care much for it either.

        • I’m playing it right now and I don’t see how it gets so much loathing. It’s not a great game by any means but it’s not the unplayable garbage that people treat it to be.

    • Satori Satya

It may not be surprising at all if the recent rumor of that Wii game coming to the PS3 via an HD upgrade tuns out to be true.

      • Ali Ajami

Haha, I am quite aware of the rumor. Big Tales fan here. Quite interestingly, Dawn of the New World sold decently despite being a horrible entry. Compared to other Tales games, this is the worst in my opinion. Then again, Legendia is pretty down on my list as well. *shrugs*

        • Anime10121

          but, but, Legendia’s OST :(
I also enjoyed the character arcs, even though Namco half-a$$ed them by not including voice acting.

          • Morricane

But you can’t play OSTs…wait…you can.
Was that the post-game? Those dragged on a bit tooooo long, but else I thought the game was OK.

          • Anime10121

Yeah the character arcs were after the “main” part of the game. They were the better part IMO as Senel and Shirley’s arc (the main game) were the most boring chapters to me.

        • Satori Satya

It sold well, but then the “prequel” for the Gamecube also did well. So I guess Nintendo fans got it based on their favorable opinion of the first game.

Too bad Namco delivered a rather uninspired sequel that felt more like a cash grab than an actual good effort on their part.

          • Ali Ajami

That is indeed what happened! Namco banked on Symphonia 2 because of the original Symphonia. If that Tales rumor is true, it really should be for Nintendo systems because that is where Symphonia belongs.

          • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Yeah but the series demographic is on Playstation so that’s where the majority of the sales are going to be.

        • Satori Satya

“we actually have no plans yet, there are only ideas. We can’t really say anything before announcements are made and it’s always a bit surprising when people ask us about rumors like that. It would be best to just
          wait for new information”

          • FJLink

Yes, I know he said that, but the vibe I got was something more like “we can’t confirm it, but neither deny it”.
I think he would have answered something similiar if that guy asked for a “Tempest R”.

          • Satori Satya

I quoted that part because it makes it clear that they’re now aware of the rumor and also that they’re considering several options/ideas for the anniversary.

  • Melvin Kwan

That was kind of a disappointing clip. Was hoping the tribute would show…I don’t know, more something anyways.

  • MrRobbyM

    I smell something special coming.

  • Anime10121

Kinda pointless vid since it showed nothing but art and title screens (but that kinda comes with the territory for Namco advertising of Tales games in the west). Hoping they are gearing up for an explosive Tales fest this weekend, but thats for Japan, and this is for the west. Correlation, Im not thinking so :(

I’m hoping we get a real trailer at E3 (considering the game drops in 2 months and we’ve yet to see anything but small gameplay clips), but then, they’ll probably treat Tales of like they do every year one releases and act like it doesnt even exist.

  • LustEnvy

I love me some Tales. No love for Innocence, Rebirth, and the like?

    • Radiosity

Innocence R was a good game, nothing Earth-shattering but definitely worth playing (since I like to get the platinum I ended up playing it four times all in thanks to the presence of both a low level AND speed run trophy on top of the usual two playthroughs).

Kyukyu and Conway (yeah, I know people romanise that in some weird Chinese way, I don’t) were nice additions and honestly I’m surprised they’re not (apparently) in Hearts R. Maybe they’re going to have them return in the third Tales Vita remake, who knows. Of course, I had to put Hearts on backburner due to real life and haven’t finished it yet so they might turn up in it somewhere I guess.

  • SirTeffy

It’s interesting this is for the “Tales 15th”… and only shows US titles. I’m guessing this was by Namco Bandai USA?

I should point out the Tales 15th in the USA is in September – calling it now, Xillia 2 announcement in September.

    • Anime10121

Its a general Tales of 15th for the west, you can tell by the Pegi rating (Euro’s ESRB) system at the beginning. The Japanese anniversary was two years ago.

      • FJLink

Was just going to say that. Phantasia came out in 1995.

        • Anime10121

But in America, Destiny was the first title to release, and it came out in 98, thus 15 years ago, thus making this the NA 15 year anniversary.

    • Ni

Tales is 18 years in japan. So yeah, that is just the Western anniversary

  • chobitsza

I still want to hope for TOV PS3 US version though…

    • Anime10121

Me too, but unfortunately, at this point, that more than likely aint happening.

    • Ladius

It’s better to focus on the great game we’re getting in less than two months, that ship has sailed long ago.

    • transferstudentx

alse tales of hearts r for vita

    • artemisthemp

We all hope ToV PS3, but as I recall Baba have said no :(

    • Gilgamesh2025

I’m still hoping for a western localization at least on psn … one day …

    • Andar

Well, there was that slightly odd PSN survey, and rumors abound about how the voice acting is done and they’re actually just waiting for the exclusivity contract with Microsoft to expire (in which time they aren’t allowed to hint at future release).

Granted, this is all just wild speculation fuel and should be taken with a grain of salt. It may be more realistic to start learning Japanese instead, and then be glad that the PS3 is region free.

    • Miley Mattson

They said no. Several times. Baba said it. The Tales community manager said it. Get over it, it’s not coming… it’s been four years, for goodness sake! Let’s move to the future. At least we actually got Vesperia, unlike half of the other games in the series.

  • fireemblembeast

:3 That was cool! I wonder why they didn’t show some footage for Xillia, too, hmmm?

  • $24431191

15 years of English dubs. inb4: weeb

  • DesmaX

Now I want to hear some good ‘ol Fighting of the Spirit

  • Spirit Macardi

Hey Namco, there’s another series of yours with a 15th anniversary this year. Funny that you’re recognizing that milestone for all your other games, where as this one remains pushed to the back.

I actually am glad that the Tales series is receiving more recognition in the west since I love the series. I’m just mad at Namco for failing to recognize the anniversaries of other properties under their wing.

    • Anime10121

      • Spirit Macardi

Would the word “Wahoo” be a good hint?

        • Hinataharem

Klonoa? He hardly has much relevance nowadays

          • Herok♞

            its Klonoa, your right.

          • Spirit Macardi

I’d argue against that, but even if that were the case a lack of relevancy hasn’t stopped Namco from giving Pac-Man new games.

        • Anime10121

Oh, forgot all about that poor little guy. I’ve always loved the art direction, but the games themselves are kinda lackluster to me, compared to other platformers.

  • Ladius

Can’t wait to play Xillia, I hope all of Baba and Namco’s efforts are rewarded in terms of sales so that the series can continue to be localized in our markets :)

    • Just Tim

I have a strong feeling Harada is practically schooling him, behind the scenes.

  • HerosLight

I never got into the Tales series ’til last year of summer and became a fan after playing Symphonia and Graces F. (My two favorites)

Now I am playing their other Mothership titles. So far I played and finished Phantasia, Abyss and currently playing Legendia.

I cannot wait for Xillia and I’m glad to be a fan of the Tales series.

    • Radiosity

Xillia is great… though also flawed in some ways. The lack of in-game costumes was a sticking point (there are four across all six characters and one of those isn’t even worth using), the rest were pay-DLC. There are some other minor issues but overall it’s a great game and definitely one of my favourites in the series, glad it’s finally being released over here, I’ll be buying it and playing it again as well even though I played it twice through already when it was first released :D

  • Draparde

I’m Happy to have played every one of these at some point at my life X_x… (though i havent beaten all of them :/ )

On a side noteish i wonder if they plan on making more tales of the world games. Radiant mythology 3 was awesome imo.

though with these “R”s lately, i’d personally rather see a 3D tales of eternia~

  • CirnoLakes

Such a heritage of great games.

These games and worlds have all woven their way into my heart.

  • Demeanor

Nuu where’s my Shing? And Vaigue? And the two kids from NariDan X? XD aaah the memories, eagerly awaiting my Mira figure despite having already gone thru ToX and ToX2. They should remake the first three titles (AGAIN) with current-gen 3d models and battle system, that would be FANTASTIC.

    • I kind like the 2D sprites of Tales of Hearts, Rebirth and Narikri Dungeon X, to be honest. They remind me of 2D Fighting games but with JRPG elements — which is an awesome combination imo (only game aside of Tales that has that kind of mixture is Draglade).

  • Gilgamesh2025

    So … few … ‘Tales of’ titles … came … to … us … T^T

  • Donatetimo

I played about 70% of those on the video since some didn’t come to US
