hakuoki-memories-mainvisualAksys will release Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for Nintendo 3DS this summer. The romance game expands Chizuru’s tale from the PSP game with six extra stories that take place in between major events. Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi also has a photo booth mode where you can take pictures with the Hakuoki characters.

A limited edition with a Japanese folding fan with Hakuoki artwork, a Japanese-style towel, a Men of Hakuoki Art Book, and Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for the Nintendo 3DS are part of the package.

Wa.. wait! I keep forgetting that I have a 3DS now! That means I can finally play a Hakuoki game!

    • Testsubject909

On another note. With Hakuoki, an obvious Visual Novel dating game, coming out and getting multiple releases…

It makes me wonder if it means we’re slowly getting a higher chance of having other such dating sim VN games getting localized…

  • Akuosa

This… is not coming to europe, right? I would settle for just a digital version at the eshop if that’s the only way, but there is no word of any of this, right?

    • Mordina

I really hope we will get it in some way :< I wanna play it!

    • Ladius

Hakuoki Way of the Samurai is available on the European PSN Store for both PSP and PSVita, if you’re interested :)

  • Well this looks very promising still.

“A limited edition with a Japanese folding fan with Hakuoki artwork, a Japanese-style towel, a Men of Hakuoki Art Book, and Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for the Nintendo 3DS are part of the package.”

A towel and a “Men Of Hakuoki Art Book”? Aksys… are you onto something? :P

  • Guest

Did Aksys say if this is going to be available through retail stores like best buy and GameStop?

    • Aunna Terrell

GameStop doesn’t have the 3DS game listed. I believe they’re waiting on an estimated time frame before they start take pre-orders. I know they didn’t take pre-orders for the PSP titles till a few months after the games were announced. But I’m sure it’ll show up soon~ Not too sure how soon.

…And I’m not too sure about Best Buy. I don’t think they carried either of the PSP games. I just see the anime collections on their website.

    • doubleO7

Think about it this way. Wouldn’t it be kinda hard to buy a Limited Edition that includes a fan, towel, and art book if it wasn’t a physical release?

  • Suicunesol

Bottom screen seems kind of useless. I would think putting the story text would work best so that the CGs aren’t covered.

  • oorum

I was like: Wait! English edition this summer? :D
But then I saw the Japan tag. Dang.

    • This is an English release.

    • doubleO7

Notice how all the screenshots are in English…

  • I hope they localized the “Sequel” with the same universe… although that one is from psp. And they are milking hakuoki too much =_==

    • Women deserve fanservice very much so too!

      • Well, what I mean is they should trying localize other otome games too.

        • $40956955

I get what you mean but it may be it’s just more accessible at the moment since they do seem to have a good standing with ideal factor however we might see other series later on depending on how this and sweet fuse sell.

        • piichan

I’m waiting for the fan disc and also the prequels, but I guess they’re not happening :( And Hakouki can’t get any more milked really :))

  • Hours

Always down for more visual novels, so I’ll be picking this up. But I’d really like some more news on Sweet Fuse.

That game is far more interesting to me, especially since I’ve already played Hakuoki on the PSP.

  • WANT. WANT SO SO BAD. …even though I have the PSP version…

    • Aunna Terrell

I’m planning on getting this EVEN though I have the PSP version too! XD

      • Testsubject909

Oh hey. New avatar. How you been doing?

        • Aunna Terrell

This is me as a chibi! Well… Kinda. XD (The hair’s a little too long…) Gotta love artists and their flash programs! http://gen8.deviantart.com/art/Chibi-Maker-1-1-346025144

I’ve been busy with work, since I got a job back in November. All I do now is just sleep and work! D: But I still sneak in a little bit of Hakuoki from time to time. XD I haven’t finished the Warriors of the Shinsengumi yet. *despairs* lol, how about you?

  • new_tradition

I wonder if they plan to port Warriors of the Shinsengumi to 3DS as well…

Anyways, I want to support more Otome-esque VNs in English, so I’ll try to grab this.

    • Ladius

WotS doesn’t have a 3DS port afaik, and unless Idea Factory makes one Aksys can’t localize it. I’m hopeful they will localize other Hakuoki games, though.

  • Ladius

Great news as usual, I really appreciate what Aksys has been doing for the visual novel genre and will be there day one just as usual :)

  • resuri

Does the limited edition will be sold only through US stores? Man….I’m going to be broke this summer….:( First SMTIV and then this…. I can’t wait!!!!

  • revenent hell

Im thinking, even though the screen shots are in English this is NOT for the US, that in itself is very confusing for some…..While some places have the LE amazon does not so since the lil tag at the top signifies Japan, and since Aksys website doesn’t make mention of an LE im going on the theory its not for the US….yet

    • Aunna Terrell

Hakuoki for the 3DS came out November 24th, 2011 in Japan. So there’s no way that this news article is for the Japanese version.

Aksys did release news of the US limited edition but they removed it. I remember seeing it on Facebook, Twitter, and their website. I suppose they removed the news because they released it prematurely? Like maybe the news was suppose to be for E3 or something. XD

      • revenent hell

Oh….Well I believe you may be correct then my dear!

And considering amazon thinks the game is a kindle book im not very surprised that they have no intention of carrying the LE.

  • Testsubject909

*looks around* I’m… surprised I don’t see Sui anywhere.

  • I want… I want it so bad!!!! Those six new stories.
