That Pile Of Bones Was Once A Dragon’s Crown Adventurer

Dragon’s Crown has a Demon’s Souls kind of system where you can find fallen players in your game. Adventurers appear as a pile of bones that you can pick up and bring back to Hydeland and revive them. After being revived you can select characters at the Dragon’s Haven Inn to join you as a NPC.

Rannie the rogue that follows you into dungeons can pick locked doors and treasure chests. Chests have different ranks from E all the way up to S.

Dragon’s Crown is slated for release on July 25 in Japan and August 6 in North America.

    The American release is getting DLC that is free for a limited time only.
    An artbook that is available to people who pre-ordered the game.

    Meanwhile the European release is simply pending. Will Europe even get the game? And if so, what are the chances of Europe getting any of the above mentioned?

    And yeah. The game is region free. But there is still an issue with servers and multiple PSN accounts and whatnot.

    Anyway. This idea of resurrecting fallen adventurers and taking them with you as NPC companions is interesting I guess. Is this an idea to make people playing alone still able to head into the game with a full party so to speak?

      I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. It seems in a lot of articles not many people ever talk about the European release ^^;

      I’ve been told by multiple people to “just import it” for almost every game, Toukiden included – but multiplayer is important in these games, and I’m not really sure it’s ideal to import such a game.

      Still, I’m keeping my eyes peeled on every article hoping for a release date for us poor, neglected Europeans…

      Oh, but I’m fairly sure we’re getting the game, we just dunno when in 2014 or 2015, but as someone has kindly agreed with me in a previous article, it’s quite unlikely we will see the artbook over here, for whatever reasons.

      Going back on topic though, I had thought you could bring the other characters as NPCs, but after reading this article, maybe not? What kind of NPCs and skills would they have?

        Same here. But for local multiplayer, it was fine with Ragnarok Odyssey for example. I hope it will be the same for this one since I have friends to play with… waiting six months for an European realease would be devastating…

          Eh, if it’s any consolation, sixth months is still better than a year or more in comparison… But either way, it’ll still suck. A lot. But not enough people care, right? :p

          Also, I wish I had some people to play these games with me locally too… ;~;

          PS. Canadian here. Not a fellow from Europe. But I do get the occasional irritation of games not being sold to Canada. Like Black Rock Shooter, which I’m still surprised actually isn’t available to Canada and Mexico…

            Indeed… It really sucks that a lot of people get shafted like this.

            Why can’t they just let everyone have fun? Then we wouldn’t need to beg for every release and hear people add insult to injury ._.

    The one thing left out from this article is the “hint system”. When you die, like in Demon’s Souls, you’re able to leave a dying message for the player who comes across your pile of bones. I haven’t played Demon’s/Dark Souls yet, but I’m guessing it’s a very helpful system.

      You can left messages anytime too, most of them are “jokes” and things like “It’s safe here” when it’s a room full of monster and traps. It’s a very fun system more than helpful.

          I remember writing “Amazing Chest Ahead” using the orange soapstone when I got there… good times, good times! :p

      When you first got into Demon’s Souls around the launch period, it was highly useful. But then people started to get more into PVP and you could at time finds misleading hints.

      But only hints that get upvoted stay around for an extended period of time, so misleading hints tend to get slowly erased, so those sorts of “traps” never remained for too long.

      If you made good use of the hints players left behind and played it smart. You could effectively just not die until you got to some bosses who could get the hands up on you if you didn’t already know where the safe spots were (which were usually highlighted by the presence of a Hint itself. So with that in mind, it is feasable to stay safe… Unless someone put up a trap hint with no useful message there just to catch a newcomer off guard and have them take massive damage or a dragon god punch to the body.)

    Also, I wonder if you convince a couple friends to all use your character and just plow through the dungeon with four of you. You just have to die at the entrance three times, right?
