God Eater 2 Demo Coming To PSP And Vita This Summer

By Sato . June 8, 2013 . 2:59am

During a recent event known as the Joint Development Summit that was streamed on NicoNico Live, it was revealed that a demo for God Eater 2 will be coming out for PlayStation Vita and PSP  this Summer.

According to what was said at the event, the Vita version of the demo will be made available on July 25th, while the PSP version will be out on August 1st. Both demos will make it possible to transfer data to the full version upon release.

Here are some additional details that were mentioned at the event:

  • There will be over 200 Blood Arts in God Eater 2, more than twice the amount that was originally announced.

  • The Charge Spear’s attack speed, and usability is expected to be improved.

  • The Buster Blade’s Charge Crush ability will be tweaked to give it a ‘heavier’ feeling.

  • Operational customizations using the Vita’s touch Panel and Right Stick are currently being considered.

  • The importance of “Wireless Messages” have been improved.

God Eater 2 is slated for release on PSP and PlayStation Vita later this year.

So this is gonna be pretty much the last big PSP release, I guess. Even so, all things considered, I can’t see it selling more than 250k units (PSV version not included). Perhaps less.

    • Launch sales, right? 250k seems a bit low for the PSP version. God Eater 1 sold nearly 300k first week. Burst wasn’t too far behind with 260k. If the brand has grown since then (and it probably has), I think we’ll see it do more than that.

Sword Art Online sold decently for a late PSP game, and I would imagine this will only be bigger. The real question is how close it’ll release to Monster Hunter, and what lifetime sales will end up at.

Like, this game was supposed to be out last year. They’ve spent so much time and money on it, I don’t even know if it’s going to be worth all the additional effort, unless Sony provided incentive of some sort to help ease the sting of the budget/time increase.

      • malek86

Wait, God Eater launched at only 300k? I remembered more.

Anyway, I think no more than 250k (and now that you told me that, I guess even less), because I imagine some fans will be getting the PSV version instead, and because the appeal of the PSP is falling now, which would discourage some people from buying games.

Also I don’t think the brand has grown since then. Nothing has happened to make it grow.

GE has become very popular since it’s release so don’t doubt how well it may or may not sale. Also the PSP isn’t what you would call a dead console in Japan. The PSP is more dead in the West because of large piracy issues so most publishers don’t see a profit in licensing games anymore or creating games for it.
I’m not going to say that GE2 is going to sell ridiculously high, (or well for that matter if Namco makes a stupid move and releases it close to MH4) but I can honestly see this selling better than GE/GEB.

          • malek86

I think it might sell better if you consider PSP+PSV, but I also think the PSP version alone will be lower than the previous games.

        • Mm, hopefully we won’t have to wait long to find out. I’m more interested in seeing what Namco’s plan for the future is. This is a successful series, but so far, it looks like they haven’t gone about GE2 the smartest way. As you said, 2 will probably be the last major PSP game, so I wonder what’s going to happen with GE3, because being a Vita-only game isn’t going to do it any favours. PS3/PSV perhaps?

  • Curan_Altea

Sounds like they’re really putting a lot of work into this game. The ammount of time its taken them to make it is indication enough. I just hope it will all have been worth it, but based on what I’ve seen and heard it’s shaping up to be a stellar game. If you liked the original anyway.
Can’t wait to get my hands on the demo. Looking forward to the tweaked Buster Blade.

  • Abyan Haidar

Hype!! then I saw.. dat Japanese Flag…

    • tubers

PS+ will have GE:B this month in US at least.. might be a setup for people to get to know before GE2..

xD I hope it’s a fengshui sign or what not :D

      • The-Beast

Sweet ! Now I can finally finish the game. I think I stopped by mission rank 7 or 8.

      • We’ll get God Eater o.o? YAAAAAAAY!

        • yo1234

I think what he’s trying to say is that this will either increase support for ge2 or show how well ge series does in the west. sort of like a gauge.

  • Highasthesky

Am i the only one who never liked games were the protagonist couldn’t talk, AND you couldn’t play as the characters who were developed?

    • Raltrios

But in Burst the protagonist DOES speak. Outside of battle, I mean.

Exactly one line in a cutscene.

      • Highasthesky

Well, that’s one more line than Persona 4’s protagonist. Okay I’m sold. Still a little salty about the other things though.

      • Mugen555

Actually, He/She also doing monologue at beginning part of Burst story line

  • ZEROthefirst

    But I want it NAOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

  • dragoon_slayer12

Now I really wish the vita could handle multiple accounts…. Am not going through the hassle of format/reset, etc

  • myausicz

    ohhh.. yeah !

  • Very nice, although this is an auto buy for me it’ll be great to play it in advance

  • izanagi

i want this game NOW DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!

  • izanagi

does anyone here see the possibility of god eater 3 if god eater 2 sells well enough

    • Solomon_Kano

Without a doubt. The hunting genre is still big and God Eater’s the biggest one behind MH itself.

    • Mugen555

      We need GE2 Burst first

  • Ni

Fuck YEAH!! New Burst DLC and GE2 Demo to get me more hyped.
Now speaking seriously. When will NAMBAI release the game? The game was meant to be released last year. My fear is NAMBAI releasing GE2 after MH4. Since last year i’m waiting for this game to be released before Mh4 comes out since every other Hunter game is going to be overshadowed by the new MH.

  • Takui Nanao

awesome news, sooooooo. the demo will be out only in japan or west too ?

    • They haven’t announced the game for outside Japan

      • Takui Nanao

        kinda sad

  • neogeno

Its over 200 Blood Arts now?! So thats where all that extra delay came from. They are really pulling out all the stops with this game. Glad to hear that they are tweaking weights also. Lots of telling hints like GEB being free for ps+ and an announcement of of the demo release date are raising my hopes that there will actually be a localization.

  • natchu96

Now if only they localize this, then I can give them all my monies.

And believe me, I can empty out part of the Gate of Babylon if I have to.

    • Binah Moore

ah i love to see type moon references

  • Prinny Dood

its not coming over here so who cares :,( i do boo hoo hoo sob !

    • Who says that it is not coming over here? It’s not even out in Japan yet so why the pessimism? And, it’s on the Vita as well.

      • Prinny Dood

Im talking about the demo not coming over here this summer not that the game isnt coming at all, i mean we got the first one so I know were getting the second one ( I hope) im just crying cause I want play it now

        • Curan_Altea

Neither console is region locked so we can still play it.
I guess the language barrier is an issue for some.

          • Prinny Dood

Well when I play japanese games I usaully follow guide people put up, its just that I dont want to import it when might release it overhear

  • Erwin MadJelly

I’m in Asian PSN, no 8gb card yet. I really wanna get a US account for my VITA. Asian PSN kinda sucks, firstly the Soul Sacrifice Demo is not in the store (BOTH LANGUAGES!!) I bet this is not gonna go into asian one (Unless they really wanna put it in)

  • Ryujin

There’s some unedited gameplay in between the conference bits, if anyone wants to see the Boost Hammer and Short Blade in action. Video lasts about an hour total, so you may want to skip to the gameplay sections if you don’t understand Japanese.

  • Takui Nanao

im really happy but i wonder when will this come to the west
