I think this looks great. Cats.

I’m sure I’ll love this game because I LOVED mario 3d land but initially when I saw this, then a new DKC from retro I just thought to myself, Nintendo is spread thin next gen. I was hoping for a pastel HD take on Mario 64 type game and a Metroid FPS. Instead I get a prettier version of 2 games I’ve already played recently, anyone kinda feel the same way?

I still think retro has more up their sleeves.

    • I really don’t think you should be expecting a new Metroid FPS any time soon. Retro’s said that they’re done with that.

In that light, I can’t imagine they’ll make DKC games forever, but as someone that grew up with them, I’m pretty happy with the mere existence of more of what I love.

As for a pastel take on a Mario 64 scenario, that kinda feels exactly like what this and 3D Land are. They blend in 2D elements, yes, but based on what little I’ve seen of both, this one seems much more open in the 3D areas and largely akin to Galaxy’s design mindset with 64’s aesthetics. Maybe that’s just me, though…

    Mario meets Futurama.

  • Nyandroid

Cat Mario is too cute! Right down to the nya~! I may have to pick this up!

Disappointed, as I expected an evolution of Galaxy, or rather, an evolution of ANY of the 3D games. This looks more like multiplayer Super Mario Land 3D on a big screen (not to say thats necessarily bad, but it is NOT what I was expecting with 3D mario) :(

I agree. I expected to be blown away more than I was. However, I was amazed to see 4-player in this game. Either way, just the confirmation that the Galaxy team was working on this game confirmed my pre-order long ago.

Peach is playable. FOR A CHANGE.

    • J_Joestar

No more waiting in another castle for her!

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

This looks a lot better than I initially thought

What a step down from Super Mario Galaxy.

    • Miss_Madness

But peach wasn’t playable in Super mario Galaxy

  • Highasthesky

I hope this doesn’t become a thing. Nintendo releases a game on a handheld, then later they release a better version on their console. Not that i have a problem with that but to hell with originality huh?

  • KingRuff

Honestly I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I was expecting something different. On the other hand, the kid in me is going crazy at the sight of this. Oh Nintendo~ You treat me wrong, but I just can’t quit you.

  • Is… is that a level editor I see?

  • Kavyn

Never played the 3ds version out of choice, but wow does this look good. It’s like the spiritual successor for Super Mario Advance, a game I loved to play on my GBA. Well done Nintendo.

  • WyattEpp

Looks nice, but… am I the only one who thinks this looks kinda slow? Like the movement is just…sluggish. I know, I know, I’ve probably not played a new Mario for a while (since Sunshine, in fact), but that’s the feeling I have when I reflect on playing 64 versus what I’ve seen here.

  • Göran Isacson

Playable Peach and the bizarre humor of “FURSUITS FOR EVERYONE” made me smile so much I can forgive the fact that the 3D Land titles haven’t really been my bag. I’m sure the audience for these games will love them, and maybe that’s what’s important. Me, I may not buy this game but I will always have the image of Mario and Peach dressing up as cat people in my head, and the horrible… HORRIBLE… scenarios I can think up with that information.
