Huh, So Atelier Warriors May Be A Thing Tecmo Koei Makes In The Future

By Spencer . June 13, 2013 . 2:04am

atay Tecmo Koei’s strongest brand is the Warriors series which continues to sell well in Japan. Warriors Orochi 3 which is a crossover between Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors added Ninja Gaiden characters into it. Since Tecmo Koei owns Gust I jokingly asked Hisashi Koinuma, Executive Vice President of Tecmo Koei, when we’ll see "Atelier Warriors."

Koinuma laughed and said, "A lot of Japanese fans have been talking about the same thing as well. We’ll probably consider it." Would you play a Dynasty Warriors style game with characters from the Atelier series fighting over raw materials to run their shops?

Tecmo Koei is also developing Samurai Warriors 4 and progress is going well, Koinuma stated.

Woah. This is… extremely left field. If this ever happens, we’ll be in for a ride.

  • Now THAT will be something lol

  • Chrystofax

I know I’d love to play something like that.

  • Ereek

I…Oh Jeeze. What? There are no words.

  • lol Uh what? xD Sounds odd.

  • An action game with Mimi as main character would be awesome. Please make it happen.

  • Keima88

Sounds like fun if you ask me.

  • Raze

If It’s a collaboration from all Atelier or maybe Mana Khemia/Ar Ton too..
    Count me in…

    • Ereek

Mana Khemia 1/2 is Project and Atelier 9 and 10 (ie, main series), so if it is made, I can almost guarantee some characters would be added.

Ar tonelico, on the other hand, is stretching it. Remember that Ar tonelico was made by Banpresto alongside GUST, which was a part of Bandai before the Bamco merger, and there may be some licensing issues.

      • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

They still made Ar Tonelico 2 & 3 after the merger though, no?

        • Ereek

Yes, but GUST likely doesn’t own the characters specifically. Obviously, I don’t know all the details because I don’t work there, but it’s very likely they’re still limited by licensing.

It all depends on how much Bamco is willing to bend for a game like this and if TemcoKoei is willing to push (read: money). Given they’ve done crossovers before, I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. It’s just not something I’d put my hopes on.

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

When you put it that way, it’s most likely not gonna happen!

          • aquagon

I frankly doubt it, as given that the original concepts for all the characters were created by Akira Tsuchiya (part of Gust), Namco Bandai shouldn’t have exclusive rights to them.

  • Not sure if my body is ready for this awesomeness.

  • michel

Excellent idea!… If made well, could be awesome!

  • I’m starting to think I can get into any series if it’s done in the musou style. It helped get me really into the Fist of the North Star series and I didn’t even think about One Piece until Pirate Warriors, lol. Musou everything! Everything!!

    • CirnoTheStrongest

      Musou is life!

      • Kai2591

    • Raoni Marques

I believe pretty much everything fits in Musou style, and from now on everyone should starting making Musou after Musou! It’s gonna be aaawesome! lol

    • isotrex

      Can’t get enough Musou!!!!… We need more!!!!…
It’ll be the next FPS COD. hahaha

  • Zikrayrus “Zikk” Dis Pear

If it exist. Cross it over Musou style!

  • fyi1191

I know who is gonna be the “Lu Bu” in Atelier Warriors.
    No doubt it’s gonna be … … … *silence*

    • XiaomuArisu

      He is a monster…
      “Still not enough”

      • Mavalex

Considering his last appearance had him cut the moon….
Oh god….he will cut the whole world in half this time

    • 5parrowhawk

      Kishida Mel.

      Dual-wielding, of course.

    • Yan Zhao

Rorona is gona be Lu Bu, you heard here first.

  • coax

There’s certainly enough characters for a Musou game, just hope they go all the way back to Marie.

  • bigboss09

you shoul at least ask him if there is a chanse for a new ar tonelico
since one piece game made from TK and bandai namco so why not a new ar tonelico ?

    • aquagon

Considering that the series’ plot has been already closed off with the novels and the booklet included in the Kurt Hymneth boxset, the possibilities are extremely low.

  • Rogerrmark

I don’t like this series, but who knows…..a dialogue between Sterk and Linca would be priceless.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Hell yes this would be amazing

  • ronin4life

I… don’t think that would work.
Who would they fight and why? Unless they were bonus characters in an existing warriors game or something.

Of course, maybe I’m wrong. I have only played the ds game after all. But I just don’t see it.

    • Draparde

‘who’ could be a made up enemy that wants to create something really bad, using some ultimate alchemy by gathering materials from the various atelier worlds. (i guess he could have millions of minions of sorts…) maybe have some mind control for the villains for the atelier games that have main ones or something. (or just a reason for them all to fall under them)

Whatever the reason, im sure it wont be *too* deep, or crazy. and probably similar to warriors orochi.

      • JohnNiles

Something really bad? Like the ultimate Tera Bomb? I can see that.

  • Jesse

I’d buy that in a heartbeat.

  • Draparde

I know I sure could. even if its not super serious with a deep story, its always fun to take your favorite characters in a series and just beat the living hell out of 500~1’000+ enemy’s with whatever skills they have.

especially if they do something with alchemy that makes it different than dynasty warriors. (which i imagine they would)

  • Joshua Myers

“Would you play a Dynasty Warriors style game with characters from the Atelier series fighting over raw materials to run their shops?” sounds fun

  • Göran Isacson

Alchemy Warriors. With a non-serious storyline like Warriors Orochi, I think it could be quite a sight to see the cutest imaginable Warriors-game in existence!

  • Ladius

You’re asking me if I would buy an Atelier game with the likes of Flay, Sterkenburg, Keithgriff and Linca? Day one, I say! That said, I think it wouldn’t work with the Warriors artstyle, it would need to be cel shaded like the current Atelier games.

    • CirnoTheStrongest

Like…One Piece Pirate Warriors? TK’s not adverse to animeifying their games

  • PersonaSpace

    Yes I would.

  • Kai2591

    Moe Musou!

  • Yan Zhao

This is so brilliant in the oddest ways that I’d totally play it.

  • Jungo

I totally called this on the last article!

  • Sergio Briceño

“Would you play a Dynasty Warriors style game with characters from the Atelier series fighting over raw materials to run their shops?”

Please tell me you mentioned this idea to him.

  • Slayven19

Of course its a good idea, its what people have been talking about since the Koei-Gust merger. Being able to use all sorts of gust character together would be a dream like in dynasty gundam.
Edit: The japanese fans even already know whats up.

  • Spirit Macardi

If Arlin from Atelier Iris is in it, I will buy the hell out of it! Especially if they spend the extra money to get Steve Blum back to voice him~<3

  • JohnNiles

I read that last sentence as Dynasty Warriors characters fighting Atelier series characters for raw materials.

  • Pyrofrost

    No Musou, No Life!

  • Learii

that be nice if is an action game rather then base turn

  • Just Tim

This concept shall ultimately be my gateway to the Atelier franchise, if implemented.

  • Raoni Marques

Linca & Logix Musou? Bring it on!!

  • $24431191

This really isn’t that great of an idea. There’s so many other series that would be better suited for this style of game-play. I mean sure, I’d probably end up buying it anyways but I’d rather have Gust focus on other things.

  • Dear or dear what a shame. Thing’s aren’t looking to good for the Atelier Franchise…

    • CirnoTheStrongest

At this rate they’ll have to worry about sellouts months in advence O_O

I’ve always imagined they would make an Atelier crossover game, but a Dynasty-warrior style game? .

If they manage to pull if off it could be fun. Also I hope they’d include multiplayer. Would like to play as Rorona or Totori to massacre a horde of punni to gather ingriedients. :P

  • Pichi

I’ve been having ideas about this concept. Like using your alchemy items you make beforehand into battle and beating up monsters or environments to get more materials. I think it can work if implemented well.

YOU CAN CRAFT THINGS, YOU CAN GATHER THINGS, YOU CAN MINE THINGS, YOU CAN KILL THINGS, and then you gather their materials to craft for weapons and armor and skills, AND THEN YOU GO FIGHT MORE THINGS!

  • Testsubject909

I’d buy it and play it. Koei actually does well on creating various different ideas around the Warriors genre, the core combat mechanic is the same for the most part, but there’s a lot of fine details that differs between every title… Moreso when it’s a whole new series so I could imagine them working a variety of Atelier element into an action hack and slash battlefield control action game.

  • TWE

To be honest, they could break into a new market with that sort of title. It’ll be an easier pitch to audiences who would normally not be interested/avoid the Atelier series.

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Atelier Warrios == Crossover with all the Alchemists from all the Atelier games? Gimme~.

  • brian

  • pimpalicious

    Yes, I would play it.

  • artemisthemp

I would not be able to take a Atelier Musou serious
