Acquire and Class of Heroes developer ZeroDiv’s upcoming dungeon crawler, MIND≒0, will take place in various parts of Japan, where players will be fighting monsters with the help of their summoned MIND partners. Here’s a look at a couple of short videos showing a clip of the game’s prologue and battle:

The prologue video starts out with a female student talking about a horror story that involves a giant axe-wielding man who kills the person that opens the door. It is immediately followed by a scream of a young boy, who is then heard by MIND≒0 protagonist Kei Takanashi.

As he checks up on the young boy, he runs into Sana Chikage, who appears to be just as baffled by seeing her classmate at the scene. Just as she tells Kei to take care of the boy, he notices something grabbing his leg, and pulling him off to somewhere.

Before he knows it, Kei finds himself in a room full of weapons and books, next to a mysterious woman who goes by the name Undertaker. “Now that you’ve appeared here, you have two choices. Choose a weapon and live… or choose a weapon and die…” she tells him.

In this battle clip, we get a glimpse of the scythe-wielding Kei attacking with his MIND, along with some backup from his party members Sana Chikage and Leo Asahina. You can read our earlier report for more details on MIND≒0’s battle system, that involves knowing how and when to use, call and dismiss your MIND.

MIND≒0 is slated for release on August 1st for PlayStation Vita.

I wanna import but I wonder if it will get localized…although it really doesn’t matter to me.

    • TheExile285

If you can read Japanese: DO IT and post lots of YouTube videos!

      If you can’t: Wait

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

Well I can which is why it doesn’t matter, but I would hate to spend all of that then a localization is announced a few weeks later or something. Dem imports aint cheap.

        • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

Yeah, import prices (plus customs fees!) do make me think twice! Some nice little extras for preordering though in this case.

  • TheExile285

The short haired blonde looks like my favorite character in P4G and….. I LOVE IT!

    Please XSEED/Arkys Systems, localize this!

    • 657rod

She kinda looks like Chie, but I think that she looks more like Aigis from P3

      • TheExile285

Now that you mention it, she does look a lot like Aigis too.

        Best of both worlds?

        • 657rod

I think so. This awfuly looks like a Persona clone so it wouldn´t surprise me. Even though it seems worth giving iit a try later on.

  • revenent hell

    I see obese tata’s!
and has anyone mentioned interest in localizing this? Because if not there should be…

  • Sai

Those animations are god awful, models are PSP tier. The plot better be super awesome.

    • Sergio Briceño

Kind of sounded like somebody who REALLY wants this to succeed.

I was sold on the art and the fact that is a TBS rpg for Vita. But you are right, I’m reconsidering after watching the videos.

    • supervamp

How do character models impact the gameplay?

      • DyLaN

Some people just can’t get over aesthetic stuff no matter how good the gameplay is.

        • supervamp

Sounds more like shallow people to me

  • Chiupon

the protagonist’s battle model is like

super cute omg what is going on

    qt

    qtiest

dem animations are a bit uh…

    *slides across battlefield*

  • googleisfriend

    More like MIND=Persona

  • Göran Isacson

Ha ha his face in that image. It’s like he’s just looking at the ladys outfit and immediately figures out that she’s probably part of some secret and stupidly convoluted anime plot and he’s just having NONE of that shyyeeat! Ecept he’s the protagonist, so alas- he has to.

    • DyLaN

The context of the scene is him obviously in a disoriented state and he can’t find his friends around him not to mention there a weirdly dressed lady saying weird stuff.

I loved the art, but the battle models are making me think twice… I hope the storyline is great…

  • Raze

Wait…The MC has chamber voice and named as Takanashi?
    The art is good…
    The battle…Uhh…
I think Even Sol Trigger animation is better than that…

    • Keima88

The MC is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita. He voiced a lot of anime/game characters. He is also a huge gamer himself. Notable roles : Chrom, Gintoki, Ragna the bloodedge and Kyon.

    • tubers

I’ve only recently seen Sol Trigger for the PSP (2 months back), can’t believe that looks better than a handful of PSV games.

  • Keima88

And now for the seiyu’s that voiced the characters :

Its the tokyo encounter team Tomokazu Sugita and Yuuichi Nakamura! And the heroine is voiced by Rina Sato who voiced Misaka Mikoto and Green Heart / Vert.

For the ones that watched the episode where the 2 guys played amagami + they will surely remember that Sugita is a huge Kaoru fan. I wonder if he’d was giddy about doing a game together with his waifu xD?

Oh right tokyo encounter is about the 2 guys playing various games from old school Japanese and sometimes Western games like left 4 dead and saints row 3 with various other seiyu’s. Its really fun seeing Sugita spouting memes and references from games and anime and having fun in general haha.

    • Sardorim

Wait… She’s the VA of Misaka Mitoko?

      That is amazing!

I wonder if they’ll make her a Tsundere as a big call back too.

  • Sardorim

Sweet the female man is an awesome tomboy that can break faces with her fists!

Even more reason I want this game!

  • Auvers

the character illustrations on the cover and in the battle scenes look alot better than the ingame portraits and VN scene art.

    • DyLaN

Dude…. The sprites in the VN segment and the character art looks better than the battle model IMO…

      • Auvers

not really, the stuff on the cover is what’s really appealing and made me bother to look at it in the first place. The art for the character portraits and VN scenes just look like someone elses style.

        • DyLaN

Character art = the cover art/official art. And we (or at least those who play VN) usually refer the illustration in VN segment as CG art.

Maybe the artist use different style when he/she is drawing the CGs and sprites?

          • Auvers

well regardless I like the non VN and in game art better.

  • Andres Pena

hmm character designs look good…….and the play style reminds me of 7th dragon except 7th dragon looked alot better and that was a psp game lol, also the scythe is a plus, but thats pretty much all i can say…

  • Syn

Am just going to come put and say it, this game looks like a psp game not done very well, the animations, the effects, am sorry but thats not even close to many psp games ave seen, the art is nice, but wow, it doesnt look so appealing imo.

  • DyLaN

Dat Biri Biri voice coming out of Sana :D And Takanashi sprites doesn’t fit the part where he screams…. He looks too chill lol.

Honestly, the 3D model looks passable from a distance. It only looks bad when the camera zooms in. Still want this though. I’ve seen worst art be4.

  • BenderIsGreat

Sana looks a lot like Aegis. Hmmm….

  • Damarius Wingfield

It’s a good thing I know Japanese sentence structure!

  • Abhishek Posooa

The battles remind me of Suikoden Tierkreis.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Gosh, even the iron maiden enemies’ animations are ripped from Persona 3. I’d still love to play this though.

  • artemisthemp

I may pick this up, if they release it in the West, since it remind me of Persona.
