Gust Developing New RPG Chronos Materia For PlayStation Vita [Update]

By Spencer . June 25, 2013 . 6:52pm

gust Chronos Materia is an upcoming RPG for PlayStation Vita, Dengeki PlayStation reports. This game takes place in a world where human civilization no longer exist and follows the adventure of girls that were flown off to this world.

Chronos Materia has character designs by Non (I believe they mean  vocaloid illustrator Nozomi Ousaka) and is scheduled to come out on September 26.

Update: The theme of Chronos Materia is "time" and the game has a system where you can change fate to break an eternal cycle.  Chronos Materia is a new style of RPG that’s easy to play again and again. Characters Iris, Primula, Thyme, and Shion were featured, too.

  • Muffum

    (okay not really at all.)

    • biskmater

      If only…

    • Linhua

… why you do dat to my heart .-.

  • Impressionnant

Good to see vita getting another game. They could localise this, right? Right?

    • Duc PC-QB

Your reply and your avatar reaction sure do fit.

      • TheExile285

It looks like a drunk Ayase. Am I the only one who sees it? Lol

        • DyLaN

To me its the face Ayase make when she threathening you with a knife behind her :X

    • jujubee88

They will ninja *gaiden* localize. This time, it will just show up in your download list. /s

  • Aquarius

Gust games are always welcome in my house. I’m willing to be a host Tecmo-Koei America, you know what to do.

  • DesmaX

    Finally a RPG non-Atelier related

    • Sai

      What is Ciel Nosurge?

      • DesmaX

Oh well, I edited the post

      • Aquarius

That life simulator was… weird in its own good way… I guess? I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t heard about that game,

  • Sai

Sounds like a Tsuchiya kind of setting.

    • aquagon

It sounds like anything BUT something out from Tsuchiya’s head.

      • Sai

I’m just hoping it is, he’s still working on Ciel Nosurge anyway. Plus the details are still too vague.

  • CirnoTheStrongest

    Too soon!!!

    Though i welcome this wholeheartedly!

  • Hikaru Lighthalzen

my money is always ready for gust’s game

  • Saculogir

They are really pushing me to get the Vita for my next purchase. A new original game from Gust is really driving the deal home. I can’t wait to see updates for this.
Now if only the Vita had cheaper memory cards… The one flaw in an almost perfect system.

    • jujubee88

I’ve noticed there are occasional good deals for 16gb and 32gb. I’d suggest getting on those deals the moment you see them! (They usually sell out real quick)

    • Radiosity

Two flaws really, considering deleting game data deletes EVERYTHING including your saves, that’s a pretty big issue too. Fix those two things already, Sony :(

      • Saculogir

It does? Thats weird considering the PS3 and PSP don’t do that :/

        • Radiosity

Yep, delete the bubble off the home screen and say bye bye to everything to do with that game, saves included. I found this out the hard way early on :|

  • Solomon_Kano

So… this one’s an actual RPG, right? And not a sim like Ciel Nosurge? If so, my interest is there and my money will be too.

    • sherimae1324

looks like you get old kano-chan…. lol ^_^
anyways we can safely say… this is an actual RPG the question is will it be a traditional one….

      • Solomon_Kano

Yea, now I just wonder if it’ll play like the Atelier games or if they’ll do something different for the style. Looking forward to seeing more.

  • This plot and character designer intrigue me. Bring it on Gust, I am ready =)

  • I love the character designs, this is VITA heaven <3

  • puchinri

That sounds like it could be a cool premise. I can’t wait to see more news and info~.

  • pimpalicious

Hopefully TK won’t mind localizing it. Too many Vita games getting passed over for the West.

  • TheExile285

Never Vita game by GUST? My interest is piqued.

Edit: so the theme is time. getting more interested!

  • Strid

” The theme of Chronos Materia is “time” and the game has a system where you can change fate to break an eternal cycle. Chronos Materia is a new style of RPG that’s easy to play again and again.”

So… someone over at Gust really enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII-2 I take it.

    • puchinri

Or the Chrono games~? Or some of the other time-travelling games that Japan has. . .

      • Strid

I don’t recall any of the Chrono games having such a friendly “re-do” system [or any other for that matter].

        • puchinri

Ah, true. There is no redo, but “changing fate to break an eternal cycle” does fit well (it matches side quests at least).

Did Radiant Historia have a redo system?

          • Strid

Not that I remember. There are quite a number of missable cutscenes and dialog [one battle as well if you do not do the events properly] in that game, though none of them are important.

To be honest, I think this is getting off track to what I was getting at, or maybe I did a poor job in how I approached it. I was trying to get across how easy it was in XIII-2 to redo things. Miss an event or want to re-try that boss? Seal up the wormhole and try again. I should have bolded the word “easy.”

      • Radiosity

Xenoblade too, you had to use Shulk’s ability to break the current future to avoid insta-kill attacks and similar.

        • puchinri

          That’s right~! I love using that. ♥

  • Another week, another Vita announcement

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Going to keep an eye for this game. Most if not all of GUST game is quality title.^_^

  • Nanashi Kinohara

  • Nanashi Kinohara

    another one

    • michel

Thanks for the scans, mate, very appreciated. To me the charachter design looks like typical Gust stuff. Which is a good thing, I think…

    • LightGenx

Am I the only one that doesn’t like the character designs? The girl on the left looks decent enough, but the guys look extremely generic.

      • puchinri

I kind of like Shion (Character File 4) and the main, but they are very . . .bland-ish feeling? I kinda like that about them though.

    • Kai2591

huh, so there are guys too..

    • puchinri

Oh, great! Thank you for sharing these~!

    • TheExile285

I see a male! Vita Sterk???

      OK seriously, artwork is wonderful.

  • Hmm, a vita game? A Gust game at that? And an RPG?? Count me in, hands down.

  • Name is Chronos Materia and people are acting suprised that the theme of the game is time.

  • pekikuubik

That sounds like a brilliant way to get around/addition to Atelier’s time limit mechanic.

Kind of surprised to see it in an unrelated game, but then again not really, because it would probably take the focus away from alchemy and we know what happened the last time they did that.

  • heartless141

” the game has a system where you can change fate to break an eternal cycle. ” you mean like FFX? xD

  • Kai2591

“a world where human civilization no longer exist”
sounds like a lonely game. But the scans seem to show otherwise haha.

Was excited for at first; thought it was a Tsuchiya game following the reigns of Ar Tonelico or something haha.

  • ¡Me GUSTa!

  • Aristides

nice, can’t wait or more details :P

  • Hopefully it’s like Radiant Historia

  • Testsubject909

Oooh Now this sounds quite nice…

And now I have something else to pray for localization and another reason to work myself to death for the money needed for all this.

  • artemisthemp

The big question is: Will it be localized?
