Summon Night 5 Developer Is Remaking Neptunia For Vita

By Spencer . June 26, 2013 . 1:19am

imageHyperdimension Neptunia is getting a total makeover for PlayStation Vita care of Felistella, the developer of Summon Night 5. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 has character models on par with Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory. Re:Birth 1 also utilizes the battle system from Victory and the Active Animation system for conversations too. Character portraits for IF and Compa when they are standing have been redrawn too.

Dengeki PlayStation reports the story has been revised by series director Onodera too. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 will have a remade main story plus new events and conversations made just for the Vita version. Even the CPUs are different, they wear glasses in Re:Birth 1. Why do the CPUs have glasses? Well, they can be in disguise when they visit other lands.

Initially, Neptunia was going to be a basic port, but then Compile Heart wanted to add in the gameplay systems from Hyperdimension Neptunia V. When they decided to do that they thought about revising the story too. Felistella was chosen as the developer since the two companies worked together on Record of Agarest War Mariage and because Felistella has a commitment to moe.

While core Neptunia characters like IF and Compa are confirmed for Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 the magazine didn’t say anything about cameo console mascots that come from other games like NISA or Gust.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 will be available in Japan on October 31.

I can’t say for sure but I have the feeling it is very important XD

nice, more vita updates this day huh ^_^
oh and an announcement of new RPG vita game too

  • http://www.youtube.com/Lyonharvestmoonfan Eduardo Rocha

Wait, so this will be a port of the first game to the VIta? YAY!

    • Landale

Remake, not port. Which is even more yay.

      • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Good because the first game was lacking in a lot of departments. MK2 and V were fantastic though!

  • Kefkiroth

Really hope this hits the West. Didn’t check out the first one (and thus the other games) for PS3 due to hearing about how much the gameplay in Mk2 and Victory were better.

    • Tyler Beale

      MUCH (especially in Victory).

  • Randy Marsh

Glad to see they didn’t go with the basic port, the first game needed to be fix badly in overall gameplay and also story, since Mk2 and Victory have basically declared the events in it non-canon. Hopefully the story will have more of a focused narrative, instead of just being 90% of fail gaming and boob jokes with only 10% story. <— Vote down target

Obviously NISA will localize this, so I'll probably buy it.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

……..Has a commitment to moe………i never see such type of praise lol.-_-”

  • chibiwall

    localize, localize, localize

    • jujubee88

      This. TIMES BY INFINITY

  • Tom

I know a way to utilize the touchscreen for this game.

    • Uso Ewin

To use menus and gro… grab items.

  • Niyari

    The Golden treatment.

  • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

Ooh, good stuff. Glad to hear it’s a remake rather than a port. The gameplay and story are definitely aspects I would have picked to be improved if I’d been given a choice. :)

  • LightGenx

If this was localized I might bite.. I’ve never played a Neptunia game.

  • Noire

My heart stopped for a second when I read this. Must Get it…

  • Kai2591

    It’s like:

    Job requirement: Commitment to Moe.

All you need is love for moe!

  • Anonymous

    Localize and…
8-Bit Neptunia as post-game bonus please

    • Tyler Beale

THIS. Actually, I’ve been wanting it since I saw the Victory staff roll…

      • Anonymous

Same for me, Except that was from mk2 title screen lol, It looked very cool as an 8-Bit game

  • Sean ‘Geg’ Reddie

I’m super excited for this and Idol Neptunia. NISA needs to take these up ASAP and I will eat them up because I am obsessed with Neptunia. :L

  • Keko

It’s like they want me to buy a Vita! NISA, I trust you!

  • fyi1191

PP is horrible. I hope this will save the series.
Gettingthis just for Noire. Awaiting preorder to pop up.

    • DyLaN

      Details on PP?

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 水木

How is it horrible? you aren’t giving any details

      • fyi1191

Just me. It doesn’t feel like a Neptune game after having played all three games.

And the contents are lacking. Having only 5 songs where the BGM is 10x louder than their singing. What am I listening to again? The gameplay is worst than Miku / IdolM@ster.
The CGs, there were none at all(?). I don’t accept a VN with 0 CGs.

        Recommend only to fans.

  • psycho_bandaid

[...] and because Felistella has a commitment to moe.

They pass! Really looking forward to this.

  • Manny Being Manny

Glasses? No buy unless its just an optional or small part of the game.

    • fyi1191

      Glasses you say?
      #dealwithit

  • blutzsworn

Now, as long as they don’t horribly mangle the characters like they did in V (while managing to improve the story. I agree with someone who posted earlier, the story needs work), this will be the best of the Neptunia games. Compile. Don’t screw this up.

  • Zikrayrus “Zikk” Dis Pear

    This will be magnificent. Guaranteed.

  • Kris

sounds good and all, but i don’t see NISA ever localizing this, ever. PSVita has very bad sales outside of Japan and Asia and i doubt a company like NISA who cuts corners to save money (like not voicing DLC characters, reusing voices for DLC characters, not dubbing the full game, etc) would actually localize for a console that doesn’t even have support.

    • TheExile285

They localized Disgaea 3 Vita and I’ve been told Neptunia is their most popular series so I doubt they wouldn’t consider this one. No chance in hell for PP though.

Worst case, I see a DD release like the Atelier Vita games.

      • malek86

Where did you read that? I find it difficult to believe that it would be more popular than even Disgaea.

      • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

“I’ve been told neptunia is their most popular series”

I allow anyone to stab me RIGHT NOW

        • xXDGFXx

You crazy? It’s like.. 10$ to send stabs by airmail!

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Yeah :/ shipping is so expensive nowadays

      • Solomon_Kano

Keep in mind Disgaea is pretty much their bread and butter and that they’ve localized no Vita games since.

That said, I do think we’ll see this.

    • malek86

Even if the PSV isn’t selling much, I imagine that almost everyone who got Neptune in the states has it (because it’s the more otaku-centric console compared to the 3DS). I don’t think they’ll ignore this title.

    • Kris

I like your name, but… NISA has done crazier stuff, and I’m sure the localization wouldn’t need to be changed much! I think we’ll see it in the West before too long, like it or not…

  • Jesse

    Good, I was…not a fan of the first one’s gameplay. ^^;

    • blutzsworn

Very few were. ^^ Could be a pretty epic game now.

  • TheExile285

    *throws wallet at PC screen*

    TAKE MY ****ING MONEY!

  • Aristides

This is the Vita game we’ve been waiting for! We need a localization along with Idol PP

  • Dokuro

Excellent news!!! my hype is now at 1000%!

  • saintfighteraqua

I hope we get this stateside. I didn’t care for it on PS3 but if it’s improved on Vita I’ll give this series another go!

  • Raltrios

One more thing to add to my list of “Games that will make me buy a Vita upon localization.” The others are Demon Gaze (very likely, what with the trademark) and God Eater 2 (they seem to be pushing it). Unfortunately, Tales of Hearts R seems to be off the table now…

  • Solomon_Kano

And now I’ll finally play HDN. Psssst, NISA, we’ve got a job for you~!

  • Raharu95

Please, Don’t take Red-chan out. please~ I am supposing you are going to have problems with Gust alrady, so I hope they do go the extra mile to get Red-chan back~

  • Prinny Dood

    bring on those rpgs :)

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Now if we could just get the Summon Night 5 director to localize SM5 over here.

    • Solomon_Kano

Summon Night 5′s director wouldn’t have anything to do with localization though. Namdai’s who you need to call if you want to see it.

      • Renaldi Saputra

        true enough

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Pleeease bring back Gust. She is the best character in the series.

  • Anime10121

Hmm, waiting on the possibility of this being released for the west. Always wanted to play the first game, hell I even bought the Limited Edition with the cards and everything, played it for a few minutes, realized the battle system was pure crap, and sold it online on Ebay a couple days later.

But this, THIS, I think I could get into :D

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Here’s to hoping that this and Summon Night 5 get localized.

    • Renaldi Saputra

since summon night was by Namco Bandai + they’re for PSP + the previous summon night 3&4 didn’t get localized, I doubt it

      • LETS PRAY FOR LOCALIZATION

correct me if i am wrong but summon night 1 and 2 didt get localized either so there is zero chance.

        • Renaldi Saputra

only the GBA one that got localized.. yeah you’r right..
Even if Summon Night’s sales were pretty good, but, still

          • LETS PRAY FOR LOCALIZATION

its sad though since it is a great series :(

          • Renaldi Saputra

well, gaming style in the west is completely different comparing to Japan or any Eastern Countries..
all we can hope is just English Patch..

  • MasterScrub

I really hope this comes out in the west. I’d like a reason to actually, you know, use my Vita.

  • Sergio Macellaro

    Why not?
I have the original game but no play with yet.
A better version to Vita, sure, is a turn on (pun no intent).
But i want Tales of Hearts e Innocence most.

  • xAtKx

Am I the only one who was okay with the battle system in part 1? After a few hours in it became quite enjoyable. I was even able to platinum it twice.

    • Nightmare637

I trudged through it(I’m one trophy away from Plat but I’m to lazy to go for Histoire enthusiest)
I still diden’t like the battle system though, but yeah its definitely playable.

  • Kamakuma

Heck not sure I’ll shell out money just yet on this one. I mean my Vita collection is growing slowly. But there are a few imports mixed in there as well. We will see that’s for sure. XD

  • XiaomuArisu

    commitment to moe?
    well thats neatXD

  • TWE

Dunno how I should feel. I actually trudged through the first one’s gameplay and incredibly slow dungeon crawling. On the other hand, I would actually have a game to buy for my Vita.

I’m wondering if the maker characters from the now defunct makers going to still be there.

  • WhyWai

not sure if this will get a localisation…

  • LETS PRAY FOR LOCALIZATION

LOCAlise pls cuz japanese is hard to lern ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • artemisthemp

Hope this is getting localized and that RED is included in the Re;birth 1.
