Square Enix Is Bringing Chaos Rings To PlayStation Vita

By Spencer . July 2, 2013 . 7:26pm

chaosringChaos Rings was one of Square Enix’s main RPG projects for smartphones. They partnered with Wild ARMs developer Media.Vision to create the game about five couples that are summoned by the Agent to fight to the death in the Ark Arena.

Chaos Rings will be released as PlayStation Mobile title, which means you can play it on Vita. Sure it’s on other Android devices already, but Chaos Rings for PSM has been optimized for PlayStation Vita.

Chaos Rings will be available at the end of July for 800 yen ($8).

Never got the chance to play the prequel. Hopefully they port that one too.

  • Ereek

Oh, this is excellent for those who don’t enjoy playing on phones.

  • Guest

I can’t wait for this, I skipped the mobile version due to the touch screen controls
It better get an English release

Square Enix put Saga Frontier and Saga Frontier 2 on the NA PSN as PS1 classics already… Japan’s PSN Store got them years ago and make sure they have Vita compatibility

    • Harley Gorillason

It’s a turn based game, touch screen controls make no difference.

      • Guest

Why did you reply to me twice with the same thing….?
and it does make a difference, I like to play rpgs with actual buttons to press not having to touch the screen every time I want a character to attack or something

    • Harley Gorillason

It’s a turn based game, touch screen controls make zero difference at all.

I played this on Ipad, it’s really good

    • Virevolte

I heard the bestiary was really poor. Was it annoying ?

      • Göran Isacson

WEEELLL… I will say that it depends on what you mean by “poor”. Uninteresting designs? I can can admit that most of the monsters are based on either existing animals or some kind of robot, but I thought they looked frightening enough. Boring to play against? Only when you get really overleveled (ha ha guilty as charged here…) in which case they became way easy- but on the earlier levels even the regular battles can be real challenging if you don’t play it smart.

So yeah, I guess that it depends on what you mean by “poor”, personally.

        • Virevolte

I read there were very little models, abusing the swap of RGB colors. So I was wondering if there really was only ten types of monsters or so, with colours changing through the game.

It’s the most frequent reproach that I’ve seen.

          • Göran Isacson

Aah, yes. They DO reuse enemy models later on in the game. I admit, you WILL have seen every enemy there is to see about… 60 or so percent into the game? After that it’s Recolor City.

  • The-Beast

What a nice surprise here. I played it on my Ipod touch and it’s an amazing game. I hope they will make it available here in the west as well.

  • dragoon_slayer12

Damn, when will the US version come???? I own the 1st two, but haven’t gotten around to playing them. I would definitely get this (these) on the vita

  • Spider-Man

I also want to become immortal.

  • Rafael Budzinski

…man, this is really good news! Hope Omega and CR2 will be available too!

  • http://linkapics.tumblr.com/ Linka

yyyyyes I am actually really approving of this.

Hopefully this’ll make way for a Vita/3DS version of FF Dimensions at some point. That’d be nice.

Now we need a PSM version of All the Bravest and we’ll be set.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Cool, I was gonna buy this if I ever got my hands on an iOS or Android device, so I hope this comes out in English too.

    • Harley Gorillason

It’s on all three mobile platforms.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Only took them 3 years to do it… >.>

    Whatever, I’ll buy it anyway…

  • keriaku

Looking forward to the inevitable Chaos Rings III!

  • chibiwall

    in europe too?

  • Xillia

one thing I love about this game, is Bachs’s voice. I think he also did the voice of the butler in tales of xillia. love his voice !

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!!!

  • Sydney Losstarot

Could I get a “Hell Yeah”?

    • TheExile285

I DEMAND THIS COME TO NA NOA!

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Please let this get localized :3

  • neogeno

Interesting. Is there any new content or is it just optimized for use of the buttons?

  • Nyandroid

    YES! YES! YES!!

  • Nyandroid

    YES! YES! YES!!

  • Go2hell66

One of the few smartphone games i actually enjoyed

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

I loved this game. Add trophy support and it’s a certain purchase.

    • Solomon_Kano

It’s a PSM game, so no Trophies. Yet, anyway.

      • yellowmage

Shouldn’t be too hard. The Windows Phone version has achievements, so the bulk of the work has been done.

        • Solomon_Kano

That’s not really the issue. Playstation Mobile games flat out don’t have Trophy support at this time.

So even if they’ve got what the trophies would be drawn up thanks to the WP version’s achievements, they can’t implement them in a PSM game.

          • yellowmage

I know; I’m just saying that, once they are implemented, they won’t have to figure out an actual trophy list.

          • Solomon_Kano

            Ah. Gotcha.

  • Solomon_Kano

I hope we get this in the US too. This always looked interesting.

  • https://twitter.com/BinksFrost Binks5

hmmm, arena? death fighting? wild arms? five!?
    sounds pretty neat

  • Göran Isacson

I wonder- will this be some kind of “all games in one” package? Because I would buy that. I would so buy that. Already played game nr 1, not feeling the need to buy it twice.

  • Aristides

    English?…

  • Maxwell3000

OMG Media Vision returns to Sony Hardware?! YES

Obviously a big fan of the Wild Arms series!

  • ElAbuelo69

    Hmm…now release Final Fantasy Dimensions…

    • Rogerrmark

Totally agreed. This game is so fantastic, deserved a console release/physical release/main series number. Something like FFV-2/fanboy off

    • yellowmage

I was just about to type the same thing!

  • Pichi

Interested. I like support like this. I can see this growing even more if they throw trophy support in the future.

  • Tyler Beale

B-But, I wanna have HD graphix and Trophies too!!

  • Alestaos

Chaos Rings 1 & 2? I dont know if this will be releases here download wise. But id be more intrested for my vita than phone.

  • psycho_bandaid

Depends on the price, I guess. I never actually finished, this game. Kinda lost interest after beating it with the first couple (white haired dude with blond girl trying to kill him). Not bad, but rather plain and uninteresting.

  • Jack Frazee

I tried playing this on iPhone, but the controls on smartphones are always just awful.

Looking forward to giving this game another try on an actual console.
