By Spencer . July 16, 2013 . 11:33pm

And the Namco Bandai teaser site is for… Jump Legend Biography. This Nintendo 3DS compilation has retro anime games from the Famicom and Super Famicom days that were tied to Jump series. The screen ratio is the same as when the games were released so these are straight ports. Five games have been announced so far:

Dragon Ball: Mystery of Shenlong (released as Dragon Power in the West)

Saint Seiya: The Golden Legend

Saint Seiya: The Golden Legend Final Chapter

Charge! Men’s Private School

Go! Go! Ackman 3

    Well…that was terrible namco.

  • Bobby Jennings

    Well…that was terrible namco.

  • Go2hell66

well this would have been my last guess

  • British_Otaku

… I had so many things l was hoping for …

I just hope that some good games are lined up in this, maybe there were some big licensed game hits back in the 80s and 90s…

  • at least it’s not an ios game, right? XP

  • Barrylocke89

While unlike other people I wasn’t expecting this to be some Tales game (Namco usually comes right out and says when something is a Tales teaser) I still wasn’t expecting something like this.

Like…isn’t this what the 3ds vc shop is for? Ah well.

    >>Charge! Men’s Private School

    Awesome game title

    • SilvaStarRippa

Great anime/manga too. Highly recommened if you enjoyed Fist of the North Star and/or Jojo.

      • malek86

I’d consider it a (very, very) poor man’s version of those two, but that’s just me :P

    • malek86

I didn’t think there was actually a Sakigake Otokojuku game, but I guess it was somewhat popular at the time.

Ah well. The manga is really only good for a while, but when the big tournament arc starts, it becomes repetitive as hell. It also has one of the most cop-out endings ever, although I guess it has comedic value, and admittedly by that point I was just glad to see it finally ending.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

There was a JoJo game for the SFC based on Part III. There was also that Yu Yu Hakusho game for the Mega Drive by Treasure. Apparently Treasure made a very similar fighter later on… with the first 2 Bleach games on the DS.
Well I hope to see the other games soon. I’m not expecting the two games I mentioned, but who knows?

    • malek86

If it’s a compilation for the 30th Anniversary of the Famicom, I don’t think we’ll see any SNES or Megadrive games.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

        I just realized… I should’ve gotten the F 30 in the teaser as Famicom 30th.

        • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

But Go Go Ackman 3 is an SFC game…

          • MrSirFeatherFang

I thought it was from what I saw. well thanks for the correction

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

None of those games were put out by Namco Bandai. The games above all were.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

        oh that makes sense

        • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

The games you mentioned are way better, though! There was another cool Yu Yu Hakusho adventure game/RPG for Mega Drive.

          • KnifeAndFork

yeah that was cool but Namco made the cinematic YYH fighter – Tokubetuhen which was awesome too.

  • SigmaNHK

Oh jeez, I remember that Dragon Ball game from GameCenter CX. After seeing that episode, I wonder who would willingly pay to play that game.

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

That was released in America as DRAGON POWER. They changed the underpants into burgers!

  • WhyWai

LoL… hope people enjoy them… me not.

  • Raze

  • Prinnydoom

    Well……..that was unexpected.

  • Solomon_Kano

    That was surprising.

  • malek86

How many of those games were actually good, even at the time of release (and nevermind now)? This is what worries me.

    • Aoshi00

Hm.. I’ve actually played all of these games on the Famicom back then and at the time I thought they were great, I mean it was during the 8-bit days. This was like the very first DB game though, the later ones are all like card-based RPGs…

The 2nd Saint Seiya game Golden Legend Final Chapter was especially fun, a blend of side-scroller, action, and turn based RPG (I hope they have save state now instead of copying long strings of password lol), it’s actually been remade on Wonderswan color, sick and tired of the countless modern fighters. I remember GoGo Ackman for the Super Famicom too, like the Devil Trunks :). watching these videos bring me back…

  • Isaac Newton

  • Torraint

    well..looks like i’ve underestimated hype’s trolling power

  • Smooosh

At first, I found the music in that dragon ball game pretty catchy, but damn… already got repetitive and annoying after one minute, the fact that it restarts if you enter a new screen doesn’t help.

  • Carlos Luis Ayala

It should have been the actual jump crossover games instead

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

  • Shane Guidaboni

…..what? Did anybody want this? Anybody?

  • William Cole

Guys, grab an emulator and play Go! Go! Ackman 1, 2, and 3. They are decent games for SNES.

    • KnifeAndFork

You ever watched the one shot anime of it? two 10 minute episodes…

  • Huh. That’s actually kind of a neat idea. Old licensed games are usually doomed to be forgotten within a couple years, even if they weren’t half bad.

  • Antixono

    Why,just why?

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Go! Go! Ackman! I use to think that was Trunks

    • GameWinner

      That’s not Trunks..? .__.

  • Ziko577

They said these games are gonna be the tip of the iceberg. Then again, I hate to see which others will be in the game. Who the hell is gonna buy this?

  • Did that really need a teaser site…

  • KnifeAndFork

Only one that sparked my interest there was Go Go Ackman 3…which btw I think they should make a sequel

Oh and Namco should release Yu Yu Hakusho Tokubetuhen (SFC) to 3DS. That game was the ish…

    Oh and Gundam Wing (SFC)

  • kylehyde

That was a surprise certainly, but no exactly a nice one. If they at least could have do the same than sega that is giving 3d treatments to their classics that would be ok, but this is lazy.

  • Hairee Pothead

Pretty much Virtual Console on a cartridge but YAY! It’s the first SNES Virtual Console game on the 3DS proving the 3DS is capable of Emulating the SNES so why not release SNES games on the Eshop?
