Ace Attorney Producer Would Like To Continue Ace Attorney Investigations

By Ishaan . July 22, 2013 . 2:55am

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies takes place one year after Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, so a lot of the returning cast in this game—such as Phoenix and Apollo—have grown and changed a little since we last saw them. Producer Motohide Eshiro tells us that the same will be true of Miles Edgeworth as well.

“Miles Edgeworth in this game has changed,” Eshiro shared with Siliconera in an interview. “For one thing his position has elevated quite a bit. He’s been promoted. [Note: Edgeworth is now a chief prosecutor.] As far as his personality goes, the experiences he’s had have changed him as a person. I don’t want to give away too much. You’ll have to play the game to see how he’s changed and how he behaves.”

Eshiro also revealed that he would like to continue Edgeworth’s own line of Ace Attorney Investigations games in the future.

“As far as a continuation of the Investigations series goes, I would love to do another one, personally, and I know [scenario director] Mr. Yamazaki would also be interested in getting something like that spun up,” Eshiro revealed.

“It would be a matter of securing the appropriate personnel within Capcom and getting everything planned, so I intend to try to do something with that in the future, but I can’t make any promises.”

As long as the West gets the next one…

    • fairysun

As long as we have English subtitle, I am happy.

      • new_tradition

Region lock kind of ruins that *sighs*

  • ヴァルラシュ

and we’d like the second one

  • Lumi

I hope he continues to be a Steel Samurai otaku.

    • RitterKarll17

He is still a Steel Samurai fan. One of the japanese trailers of AA5 showed him at last minutes in his office. The Samurai figurine he got from Wendy Oldbags is still there.

  • Pockystix

    I will love it

I mean, as long as I get to play Investigations 2 first lol

  • linkenski

As much as I liked the first investigations game, I really don’t need another one of them. I’d rather see an Ace Attorney game that blends the Investigation mechanics from AAI into the standard Ace Attorney formula, and also where the player is given more free reign to search for evidence.

They could actually make it so you could end up in court without all the necessary evidence, like in L.A. Noire when you interrogate suspects without enough evidence but you could still beat the case where it gave you a lower rating.

    • Did you just completely forget that the AA series isn’t a lawyer/detective sim?

      • linkenski

Overall the story in AAI wasn’t as good or interesting as those in the other games, still I loved it because of the gameplay improvements. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sim or not, it will still greatly benefit from evolving its mechanics.

        • linkenski

Apparently i’m a big minority amongst the other AA fans. No one friggin agrees with me on anything regarding this series :P

  • omegaRJ

well i think i will like it
but after capcom make the english version of gyakuten kenji 2.

  • Andrew A

It bums me out that Capcom USA completely botched this series for us.

  • Silent-Hal

I’d love to see a new Investigations game at some point. The first one is one of my favourite games in the series. I’m disappointed that we never got AAI2 over here, but I’ve largely given up on us ever seeing that here. Hopefully the same thing doesn’t happen to an AAI3 if there is one.

Plus, it’d be a great place to bring back characters like Gumshoe and Franziska if they can’t fit into the main series games.

    • Runebearer

If you really want to see it that badly, there is a translation on youtube. It’s currently in the middle of case 3
and proceeding really quickly. It may not be the same as playing the
game, but still better than nothing. Personally I liked Investigations 2
even more than the first game.

    • Lusankya

Sooner or later we’ll get the fan translation. Maybe it will still take a while, but I am sure they will finish the patch eventually (and if all failed they would at least give us the translated and localized script).

  • most probably we will never get it since AAI2 never released in the west

And I guess if they did make a third game… there will be no more Kay as Edgeworth’s sidekick huh… and I really like her too.

    • Kamakuma

You shouldn’t be so pessimistic. Companies go back on decisions all the time when they see that theirs money to be had on localizing games. As there were a lot of people who went and imported them which helped japan’s sales for better or worse.

But I understand though. It IS Capcom and their track record is clearly the “best”. -_-

  • im hoping we hear news of an AAI 2 localization soon with the release of dual destinies, but id also welcome a 3rd entry so long as they keep kay! itd also be sweet if they gave us a Mia game someday

  • Rafael Benavides

i’d rather he made AA6 tbh

  • Yan Zhao

More Investigation games would be nice…if they made it to the WEST!!

  • Farid Belkacemi

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 on eShop NOW Capcom, just do it !

  • Testsubject909

    Passing thought.

Still no news on that possibility for a physical copy of Ace Attorney 5 huh?

  • Lazulis

I have $30 eshop credit. Capcom plz.

Shame that Investigations didn’t take off in NA though.

  • Hours

Yes please, but give us AAI2 in English first.

  • Kavyn

I’m curious if they’d make an AAI3 with this updated version of Edgeworth, or the Edgeworth from AAI1&2.

  • yellowmage

I’m all for this, if only for more Gumshoe.
