A First Look At The New Medabots Dual Action Game Arriving This Year

By Ishaan . July 24, 2013 . 5:00pm

Medabots Dual is coming to the Nintendo 3DS in Kabuto and Kuwagata versions, and our Famitsu magazine report from last night contains all the relevant details. You can catch up with it here.

Additionally, Famitsu.com has shared the first screenshots of the game, which you can view below. Medabots Dual: Kabuto and Medabots Dual: Kuwagata will be released for 3DS later this year.

Anybody remember that Medabots game on the website? That game was so freaking good, except you couldn’t really move around the Medabots.

BUT NOW THIS GAME….WANT WANT WANT

    • Strain42

I DO remember that one. Where you could like battle people with those 3D models and you could slowly win parts? I used to play that all the time.

That and the GBA one were some of my favorites.

I do really want this game, but I dunno what the odds of us actually getting it are…aside from “slim” I mean.

    • JonathanisPrimus

It was called Robattle 3D, and went offline due to platform incompatabilities.

  • Highasthesky

    I want this game…..why 3DS WHHHHYYYYY!?!?

    • Namuro

Well, Medabots is a kids show (but I watched it as well!), and I’ll bet most kids have 3DS (at least in Japan). Also, the game has trading functionality which works best on a handheld device.

      So…yeah.

      • Highasthesky

Yeah i get all that but the 3DS is region locked, so even if i wanted to buy the game i can’t (stupid Nintendo)

        • tubers

          Smart Nintendo.

They want you to also buy a JPN 3DS model :P

          • Highasthesky

The fact that i’m thinking about doing so, proves this*sigh*

          • British_Otaku

I can’t speak for everyone, but it is more likely that people who aren’t core gamer for the platform will wait till the game is localised or assume the game doesn’t exist like how people in States thought the Wii was dead in 2011, while we importers just got Xenoblade, Inazuma Eleven Strikers (+ 2012 Xtreme), Kirby Return to Dreamland, PokePark 2, Pandora’s Tower, The Last Story and Skyward Sword just from a published by Nintendo perspective.

Chances are the core gamers buy second hand 3DS systems or otherwise use hundreds of dollars which could directly go into Nintendo’s pocket for translating games simply to own another 3DS.

Region locking has always been a bit silly. If stuff was region free, I would import more and buy local games more.

Hmm it looks like the style of Gundam Vs Gundam, looks interesting especially with the customizing pieces part. Would also remind me of the Mech Warrior style in that aspect.

    • British_Otaku

If it is anywhere near close to Gundam vs Gundam, I will own it regardless of whether I get watching Medabots or whatever by then…

Hopefully, they’ll get a good demo out later this year.

Customisation seems to be all the rage in mecha related games these days.

  • Abend

i doubt it will be better than LBX but i love medabots so one can only hope

don’t really know what to make of these screens but im hoping it will be like custom robo

  • Audie Bakerson

I’d just like to note Natsume USA’s exact words were “It doesn’t look like Medabots 7 is in the cards. Hopefully maybe the next one.”

    • Renaldi Saputra

wait.. have any of some recent medarot games been localized?

      • Audie Bakerson

Medarot 7 was a revival, so I don’t think there were any recent games before 7. “Hopefully maybe the next one” seems like it was hinting at this (I can see publishers being more eager to translate an action game over a turn based one).

        • JonathanisPrimus

No, Medarot DS in 2010 was the revival.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

So its like metabot infinity but better

  • LightGenx

Here’s hoping the game does well.

  • Renaldi Saputra

this makes me want to rewatch the anime again..
sadly it seems I can’t find any with english sub

  • HassanJamal

They’re using the Metabee model from the second season? Ah well, classic still remains the best.

  • Tsurugi

This game could came to USA….
