Has anyone seen it? I’m curious but I haven’t played the games and I’d be pissed off if it spoils a good chunk of the games.

    • Arcana Wiz

well its a animation of the game, so yes it will spoil everything.

      • Barrylocke89

This exactly. I feel like something like this would be best after you’ve played the whole game because you’ll be able to appreciate it more. Watching the anime adaptation would likely be like an abridged version of the games events, and a lot of the impact would probably be lost.

Of course, I haven’t seen it myself yet so I suppose I could be wrong. I kinda doubt I am in this case though.

On the contrary, I think anime is also a good way for newcomers to experience a work. Usually game player opinion is “jaded” by the source material and thus they are unable to enjoy it like they first enjoy the game. Often their enjoyment boil down to how faithful the adaptation is to the source material and we know an adaptation can’t please every1.

If he/she liked the adaptation, then he/she will get the source material to enjoy the source material in its original form so tht he/she is able to experience it in its original form.

Anyways, both way will do depending on individual.

I can see what you mean. I do think that if a person already plans on playing the game at some point, that it might be best that they wait until they’re able to get their hands on a copy.

The scenario that you paint might be best for someone who isn’t normally a big gamer, or just didn’t have the game available to them. It’s usually easier/more accessible to watch an anime vs buying a game, especially for a younger/college aged player.

Oh well, I’ll wait ’til I get a PSP 3000. My 9 year old PSP 1000 died a year ago while I was playing ClaDun and Corpse Party.

Frm wht I heard of the OVA, the fanbase reaction to it should be….. divisive.

Btw an OVA is 50+ minute and IIRC the 1st one cover the 1st chapter.

    • Wappuli

      It’s ~30min per episode.

      • DyLaN

        Oops. My bad then.

    • WingsOfEternity

Honestly saw it coming after seeing the 15 minute short that came with CP2U. I’m curious as to why a good company with rising popularity over the past few years wouldn’t just give CP the good old 13 episode adaption. (Unless CP isn’t popular in Japan? Highly doubt it considering the amount of expansion it got and two upcoming installments.)

      • Judging by how little merchandise there is for the series, it doesn’t seem to be too popular in Japan.

      • DyLaN

I think if it were to be released on TV, it might be censored to death and beam-chan will be instant talk of the ‘net.

      • Sardorim

Just as long as they don’t do that lame manga ending from that ero spin off we’re good.

  • Does anybody know if the music of the OVA reflects the game(s)? I’ve played through some of Corpse Party, but one thing that keeps me in suspense, and wanting to go back is the amazing soundtrack :3

  • Just Tim

Should Corpse Party gets a re-release, I hope it also comes along with the adaptation.

  • Jesse

Before anyone goes to watch it, just know that, after the Chapter 1 events, it mostly goes and does it’s own thing, instead of following game canon.

    • s07195

Oh dear. With only four episodes, I wonder if the characters will even get a good end of some sort.

  • Brandonmkii

I like how they mention that Asami Imai voices characters in other franchises, but then forgets to mention that she voices someone in Corpse Party :p
    (Ayumi to be specific.)

  • TheExile285

When’s the Vita game coming out? They announced it buy having given any info since it came out..

    • Jesse

It’s set for sometime later this year.

  • RichyGaming

This looks like one of those cute animes, like School Days!

    • DragKudo

    • DyLaN

……….You have no idea how on-spot this statement is.

  • FetusZero

I wonder if those OVA’s, along with Missing Footage, will be licensed for release in the west someday.

  • PlayLife

Now I just need to wait for some fansub to subtitle this :)

  • Sardorim

Time to watch poor Naomi suffer again.
