Bravely Default Still Flying Out In Europe In 2013

By Spencer . August 6, 2013 . 3:21pm

imageDespite what Nintendo posted in their financial report briefing, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is still on track for a 2013 release according to a tweet from the official Bravely Default twitter page.

Bravely Default was originally announced as a 2014 title for North America and a late 2013 release for PAL territories. The discrepancy between the Bravely Default tweet and Nintendo’s release calendar still exists, though. You can see it in the release schedules in Japanese and English.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy was released in Japan last year. The game is a traditional RPG that is somewhat reminiscent of Final Fantasy III or Final Fantasy V with a turn stocking/overspending system that makes battles faster.

    N O W !

Wait, Europe is getting it before NA does?

So this is how they feel most of the time

    • SwiftWind

I mean this isn’t the first time this has happened. I believe all 3 of the Rainfall titles were released in Europe before they were released in America (2 of them which were due to XSeed, not NoA). Nintendo of Europe seems to serve its region well in games besides the basic Mario and Zelda.

      • AzureRyuujin

It actually makes me wonder if we’ll hear one of NoE’s amazing dubs. It’ll be worth the wait if so.

        • TrevHead

I’m new to all this. But is it true what you say, NoEurope puts good dubs in their localisations compared to NoA?

          • AzureRyuujin

Very good dubs. Look at Xenoblade Chronicles, and The Last Story.

      • Alex Sargeant

Hell, it happened this month with Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. Probably because they didn’t want to pitch the SMT up against it in the US.

This is crazy exciting though as I live in the UK and may use it as an excuse to upgrade to an XL.

        • Slayven19

See but that was actually a smart reason. They knew that atlus would be mad if they did that but honestly SMTIV seems like a bigger game than partners in time even if it is a mario title.

    • SetzerGabbiani

Still waiting on the Europe-only release of Terranigma from the SNES days, which is COMPLETELY TRANSLATED.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

I would totally buy that on the VC. Although I know the premise and have been spoiled, I still think it would be a great game to play.

      • Farid Belkacemi

I want to play the trilogy so much… It hurts :(

    • Corey Owens

I heard it was because EU is not getting an English voice over, so it’s coming out earlier.

      • AzureRyuujin

…Awww…. I was hoping NOE was dubbing again…

      • Farid Belkacemi

I’m ok with this, but I don’t think it’ll happen. Who told you that ?

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

  • SwiftWind

I’m really hoping that the 2013 release for Europe will signify an early 2014 release for North America. I’m soooo excited to play this game!

  • Lemon

I’d like a system to make time pass faster so I can get my hands on a copy.

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

This is great news, hopefully a solid date is revealed at tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct.

  • Prinnydoom

Either way i am happy. Though i would prefer to have the game sooner i mean who doesn’t right? Still reassuring all round.

  • Herok♞

So everyone who was freaking out in the other article about the game moving to 2014 must feel silly now.

    • Malon

Nintendo is playing with my heart.

  • AnimeRemix

Guess we aren’t all on the same boat anymore. Ah, oh well. Fellow North American gamers, let us continue to set sail towards 2014! Fellow European gamers, enjoy the greatness that must be Bravely Default!

  • SirRichard

Make up your minds, you silly gits, just stop playing with my heart!

  • Anna Scruton

Well, people can stop freaking out on GameFaqs now.

    • TheExile285

You use GF? Lol poor soul.

      • Anna Scruton

        You have no idea.

        • TheExile285

Oh I do. I abandoned that site because it was was awful. Siliconera FTW!

  • Seems appropriate.

  • TheExile285

…. what are you doing Ninety?

    *lives in US*

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      Lets start Rainfall

  • Pockystix

    so jelly now

  • Smooosh

Ahh, I can’t wait for this game!! :)
Have been anticipating it since its announcement, looks a lot like a classic final fantasy game. I like the newer ones as well, but I’ve been dying for a good oldschool RPG. The visuals are BEAUTIFUL and the soundtrack seems amazing as well.

( Hope we get the black boxart as well! :P )

  • fireemblembeast

Europe is getting it first?? Plot twist! (Why can’t we just all get it in the same year?)

    • Slayven19

Because of different release schedules. They probably don’t want it to collide with the other games in the U.S around December. 2014 is perfect for the west as nothing is going to go against it to stop it from selling well.

    • Prungy

A better question is why is Nintendo the only company still region locking systems.

Though in response to your question, I suspect that it’s because of the same reason that NA had to wait for the Operation Rainfall trio, that NoE has stepped up to localize it since NoA doesn’t seem to care about RPGs anymore.

      • fireemblembeast

Yeah…if they hadn’t region locked it, I would just stop complaining and import the EU version…

    • Neophoton

Pretty much due to release schedules. I do believe Nintendo’s NA schedule for the tail end of this year is fairly cluttered.

  • Junko Enoshima

This game seems hella boss. Too bad I’m a New Yorkian.

  • Slayven19

Darn, thought you guys were sailing the ship with us. Oh well not like I really cared anyway I just want a solid release date.

  • Solomon_Kano

Oh. Well, guess we’re back to square one.

    • School Idol Addict

That’s ok, we will have plenty of games released in the next few months to last until next years until Bravely Default is released.

  • Alestaos

Oh wow i now have hope again one of the 3DS games i have been really looking forward to is back on track forbus EUers awesomeness!

  • Franggio Hogland

Well…European here and all I have to say is

Nah but really sorry that my family across the pond gets to wait. Seriously. But at least you know you will get it which we don’t always know..most of the time.

  • Neophoton

Doesn’t affect me either way as I live in the US and I finished the game many months ago, but I’m still glad others get to enjoy it anyway.

Though, maybe they had it listed for 2014 because it’s just that late into the 2013 schedule that they’re expecting profits into early 2014 or something? Dunno why they listed it as such in the first place, but I’ll just roll with whoever posted the Backstreet Boys link. :P

  • Go2hell66

    Hahhahah stay salty america

  • Lazulis

As much as I’d love this game in my hands asap, the 2014 date works for me because that is enough time for my wallet to recover…theoretically…

  • Djip Minderman

Ehrm, from what I could tell he only says that he’d be sad if the release date was delayed and that he hopes his English is faulty.

  • Ban The Jackass

I’m still waiting for that Limited Edition pack for Bravely Default.

  • Ric Vazquez

I’m usually happy when europe gamers get the games first because they usually have to wait to long foe these games, this is not one of those imes, so THIS IS HOW THEY FEEL WHEN THE GAME YOU WANT THE MOST GETS TO THE OTHER TERRITORY FIRST!

  • LDM

Maybe Nintendo is planning a special edition for NA, which is why they are releasing it in 2014? This is the same thing NISA is doing. Though, it’s just a theory.
