Criminal Girls Invitation Uses Live 2D, Has Touch Screen Features

By Spencer . August 6, 2013 . 12:57am

imageNippon Ichi is bringing the PSP game Criminal Girls to PlayStation Vita. Originally developed for PSP, Criminal Girls is a dungeon crawler made by Imageepoch with one caveat – you can’t control characters in battle. You have to "punish" the girls who are all guilty of crimes to train them to be better in battle.

Criminal Girls Invitation for PlayStation Vita is an enhanced port with new characters, story scenarios, illustrations voiceovers, and costumes. The punishment system has been enhanced too and it utilizes the PlayStation Vita’s touchscreen. Players can touch the girls, which are now rendered using Live 2D. The game’s difficulty and controls have also been rebalanced.

Criminal Girls Invitation is slated for release on November 28. Pre-orderers get a code for SD punishment voices as a bonus.

Never played the game, but they’ll be having animations, which I’m sure pleases most of you.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Honestly no, i find live 2D hideous.

Agarest Marriage, Conception, Summon Night 5 uses them and it looks aweful. Only thing im not pleased at CG I

  • Monterossa

    please localize it this time.

    • Neppygear

Don’t hold your breath, bby. The likes of NISA may deal in the dubious (sup mugen souls) but I think Criminal Girls may just be a tad… unsellable in the West.

But don’t get me wrong, I totally want to play this, too.

      • supervamp

        Is it really that raunchy?

        • ShadowDivz

One of the main points of the game revolves around S&M.

The west isn’t to fond of cleavage in japanese games.

From there just do the math.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

      I can just hope.

  • live 2d? *puke*

    • d19xx

      You prefer dead?

    • DesmaX

heh, I’d say Rayman Origins is the prettiest game I’ve played this gen

    • DyLaN

Better than most 3D model for sure.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Yeah i agree i prefer classic 2D portraits, live 2D looks too weird.

I wonder why Growlanser was the only series using 2D portraits but they moved their lips.

    Live 2D explained:

If you dont wanna watch, its like Miku Vita mini-game where you can touch the screen and the Vocaloid reacts and stuff.

    • oh god it’s engrishwaifu!

    • Brimfyre

lol I actually felt bad for the little moe girl, who looks so annoyed they keep tapping around her screen while she is trying to do her job.

    • ShadowDivz

But i kinda feel bad for her.
Trapped in the screen till the end of time.

      • HassanJamal

No prob :D this tech is pretty neat stuff anyways, best to spread the info!

“– you can’t control characters in battle. You have to “punish” the girls who are all guilty of crimes to train them to be better in battle”
C’mon man, have you even played the game?

    • gangrelion

You CAN control your character in the old game…Please Spencer, don’t start talking like this is a new feature for the remake like you did with Summon Night 3&4 anime OP for the PSP version.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

I think he means in the sense that you dont choose theri actions but rather you choose the actions the girls suggest.

Personally i liked the whole idea behind CGs.

  • supervamp

Hmmm nice live 2d is really taking strides they need to use it more often
2d things look a lot nicer when animated

    • tubers

Was the Nep PP VITA demo live 2D? I think that was my first experience with that on the PSV.

      It was really nice :D

      • supervamp

        Yeah it was live 2d

  • Stranger On The Road

…..I don’t know why, but I find myself interested in this game :-)

  • artemisthemp

So I have to punish the Girl in the name of the moon?

    • ShadowDivz

I see what you did there.

  • d19xx

The technology they used reminds me of those 2D images that are edited to be animated. I can mention a name for reference but the results would be nsfw.

It’s basically what Vanillaware does to animate highly detailed artworks to be used as sprites.

    • DyLaN

Oreimo PSP VNs have it too.

        summon night 5 too

  • DesmaX

… Oh, that explains why they are porting this to Vita

  • Oh goodie, just when I had managed to forget that this game existed.

  • ShadowDivz

I wonder if Himekami will be playable. She was pretty hot.
    And what’s illustrations voiceovers? O_O

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

I hope so, the punishment CGs of himekami brings me hope.

  • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Costumes? Does that means new promotions beside knighting? That sound cool.

Rebalanced? I thought the original was well balanced enough (Altough last boss was really hard)

New characters? Better be more girls, the Jailer is the only man we need.

    CG I sounds really awesome.
