Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst Blasting Off To Xbox 360 Next Year

By Spencer . August 11, 2013 . 11:42pm

After releasing a port of Ketsui for Xbox 360, Mages/5pb made an original vertical scrolling shoot ’em up called Bullet Soul. Looks like that game is turning into a series. Mages announced Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst (temporary title) which is slated for release in 2014 on Xbox 360. No details about the game have been announced at this time.

While Bullet Soul was never released overseas, it was a region free game. Hopefully, Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst will be region free too.

This game has the most underrated sound track of all time, easily one of my favourites

    • It’s pretty intense, similar to Gates/Lords of Thunder. Which is getting an iOS sequel…

  • TheHolypopeofgaming

Fingers crossed it and the first game hit PS3 too.

    • Oniros

      Why not the sequel?

      • TheHolypopeofgaming

        I said both

Bullet Soul is one of the least fun shmups I’ve ever played. There is actually too much bullet canceling here. Pretty easy to make it to the final stage on one credit playing for the first time.. But I’ll certainly give the new one a chance. Definitely appreciate new shmups being made available.. :)

And I enjoy bullet cancelling it’s just that in Bullet Soul, like the game in general, it’s flat out boring.

  • PS3 version needed !

  • FetusZero

Has to be region free, Bullet Soul is easily my favorite shmup on consoles. Though I must admit that Saidaioujou comes pretty close too now.

    • Please explain how Bullet Soul became your favorite SHMUP? I’m really curious to know. I liked everything about it… except the gameplay. Got pretty boring. Have you tried Eschatos and/or Ginga Force?

      • Julien_N

I heard the game was not extremely exciting if you are simply trying to clear it but playing for score forces you to take much more risks and is much more fun.

        • I tried playing for score. I didn’t really “get it”. I’m open to giving it a second shot.

      • FetusZero

Different strokes for different folks, I’d say :p
I don’t really see how I can really explain having different tastes, but I’ll give it a shot anyway.
It’s just easy to pick up and play. The music is amazing and the design of the title is something I find extremely eye-pleasing. True that it’s easy due to the bullet cancelling (though I personally think it doesn’t help all that much in the later stages of the 2nd loop) and while I enjoy facing a challenge, STG wise I’ll always prefer titles that are easy to pick up and play. I can see how a lot of skilled players could find it boring though, but not every big shmup fan is as skilled as others like to think. I guess you could say I prefer having a laid back and simple experience as opposed to a threatening run with deeper mechanics. I still love myself some of those, but they’re just not my favorites. That kind of feeling is one I have for shmups and RPGs and as for other genres, the harder and more complex, the better it is. Not sure what else to say.. I guess the “vibe” that it gives off feels better to me than most other shmups I’ve played.

Hopefully it’s understandable lol, I don’t know how many times I edited my text, but it wasn’t easy explaining such a thing.

As for your other question, I did try Eschatos (I own pretty much every region-free/localized shmups released on X360/PS3 except Ginga Force and Shooting Love). I’ve been playing it again these days actually. It’s a good game, but I’m not a big fan of blending “3D” with shmups the way they did. Ginga Force is definitely on my list of titles to buy, but I’ll wait for it to drop in price before. I can assure you that I’ll have it one day though.

hope it’s RF, loved bullet soul.

this game gets way too much unwarrented hate.

As long as it has RESONATOR and Itou Kenji on music again. Even medio-bad games can have kickass soundtracks (sup, SFxT).
