Nintendo’s Chibi-Robo Photography Game Is Headed Westward

By Ishaan . August 26, 2013 . 9:00am

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo’s latest Chibi-Robo game is headed westward. Titled Chibi-Robo! Let’s Go, Photo!, the eShop Nintendo 3DS title has been rated (via: Nintendo Everything) by the Australian Classification Board.

As reported in the past, Chibi-Robo! Let’s Go, Photo! has you using the Nintendo 3DS camera to snap photos of real-life objects to match silhouettes in the game. If you manage a 60% match between the object and the silhouette, Chibi-Robo will add it to a museum of objects.

You can learn more about the game here. Nintendo have not yet officially announced Chibi-Robo! Let’s Go, Photo! for a western release. Note that the game might have a different title in North America.

Unsurprisingly? Very surprising, actually, considering the last Chibi-Robo game never left Japan.

    • Big difference between digital and retail. That makes a huge difference.

      • NintendoPSX

That doesn’t make it unsurprisingly though. It’s very surprising for a game like this to leave Japan, like the guy above said, that it’s first iteration never saw the day of light here.
I understand what your thinking is on this, but that doesn’t make it unsurprisingly.

Just unsurprising. And light of day.

  • I would have been more surprised that this game was coming west if it weren’t an eShop title. But I am still surprised a tad, but also pleased.

Looks more like a mini-game and/or tech-demo rather than a full game… unsure if really interested.

    • British_Otaku

I’ve only played the demo and never played the main series, but it seemed like whimsy fun in a “real life” esque setting so it has my interest. >_>

    • DonkaFjord

There is a lot more than just the picture taking stuff. I don’t know the full details but there are several different games or something. Maybe a new trailer would explain it.

Ah, so there are other minigames there. That makes it a little more appealing, though I do wonder what you collect the pictures for, if it’s for points and what you do if you get a silhouette you can’t match to anything in your house…

  • Strain42

You guys apparently had a lot more faith than I did that this would be localized. Of course I’m thrilled, but “unsurprisingly” is still not the word I woulda used in regards to this news.

Best news of the summer :)

  • vileBrenman

Yes yes yes! I love Chibi robo! Even if this is just an eshop game I’m so in!

  • well color me suprised, nice to hear though

  • 3PointDecoupage

Why isn’t Chibi Robo in smash bros? he’s a lot cooler than wii fit trainer.

    • Strain42

At the very least he should be one of the assist trophy characters.

Chibi-Robo has been such a vastly underrated series for Nintendo in the west. It’s charming and relaxing to play, great for kids and adults alike. Too bad the GC one never came here and the DS one was a walmart or target exclusive. The DS one where he tended to a garden was all sorts of fun.
