Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 Adds Neptunia V’s Godly Game Discs

Hyperdimention Neptunia Re;Birth 1 has a feature that wasn’t in the original PlayStation 3 release at all. Dengeki explains the PlayStation Vita remake uses the Godly Game Disc system from Hyperdimension Neptunia V instead.

image One of the features that made the original Hyperdimension Neptunia unique and never made it into future games is players can make custom summons by picking an image saved on your PS3. These summons weren’t exactly more powerful than regular attacks and the animations too longer.

However, there was a novelty factor since you can put your face into the game or add other video game characters into Gamindustri. I have a bunch of summons of different consoles, for example. Sega also lent Compile Heart sprites for retro games like Fantasy Zone which are built into Hyperdimension Neptunia.

Compile Heart hasn’t said if this feature will be in Re;birt 1 or not, but it would be neat if they left it in especially since you can use the Vita’s cameras.

    That is pretty darn cool.

I wants a trailer for this though >_>

  • Sergio Briceño

    Hopefully it’s still there.

  • Arcana Wiz

wanna this to start the neptunia series, i sadly never played any game of this series.

    • Noire

Then you haven’t enjoy your life before.

      • HerosLight

        Neither have you!

You are always in the office doing work!

      • Tyler Beale

        Wha….if you’re here…then…who…am…I? Oh yeah, I’m Black Heart!

        • Noire

I heard a lot about you from Neptune. I am Noire from Hyperdimension. Nice to meet you pseudo-Noire. (*・ω・)ノ

          • Tyler Beale

Hahahaha lol. EDIT: Oh wait, that’s from Neptunia Victory, isn’t it?! You know, when Noire meets….Noire? (assuming you’re on the True Ending path)

But seriously, Black Heart is hot in the bikini she’s wearing (which is what my avatar is based on), and I think there needs to be more events/costumes like that for the CPUs themselves (the “hearts”/HDD forms, NOT Neptune/Noire/etc.)

Go for Mark 2, then Victory, than wait for this baby. I’m not a Plat hunter, but despite these games being lower budget than huge titles like TLOU I had a crapton of fun with them, pumped 100-150 hrs in each title and got both Platinums (not hard, but time consuming). Go for it!

      • Tyler Beale

I found Victory more enjoyable than mk2, simply because I don’t have to worry about having 2 bars (MP and SP) filled to a certain amount to use items/skills/transform. God was that annoying.

Also, I think more people should play more Japanese games like this, or at least appreciate them. There are more kinds of games than just Call of Duty and AAA games in general, you know. I’m not saying they’re bad – some of them I legitimately like, like Uncharted and GTA – but I think many overlooked games like this (okay, maybe not Neptunia specifically) deserve to have more coverage among the media than what IGN/Gamespot/Gametrailers/etc. give them.

Hell, Tales of Xillia just got released a few weeks ago, and there aren’t many people (specifically, journalists like Geoff Keighley and media outlets like IGN) talking about it!

        • Demeanor

Well said friend, I agree on everything. Transformations are a lot more hassle-free in Victory although there is still next to no difference between a transformed and non-transformed megami.
I’d DEFINITELY put the Atelier games on PS3 on the must-play list for more niche titles, those games are works of art if you take the time to experience them fully.
Alas, the more famous, “must-buy” titles already take their toll on wallets and free time, so it’s kind of hard to go look for and appreciate the hidden gems; when you do find one though (and this site is invaluable for that), something that works for you, it’s one of the greatest pleasures of gaming. :D

Japanese games will NEVER topple the western AAA games that get released every year. That’s a fact, although there are Japanese games that have that AAA quality to them (like Final Fantasy XIII-2). But I DO want to see more games like Neptunia talked about more by the gaming media, because most of them are at least AA good.

Hell, I actually PREFER playing Japanese games over the franchises that turned once caring companies like Activision into greedy fucks like EA. Why? Well….Mostly because I don’t have much interest in most AAA games like Call of Duty, but like I said, there ARE some that I legitimately do love, like Halo, Uncharted, GTA, and whenever I get to pick up a copy, The Last of Us.

As for Atelier, I do enjoy playing Atelier Totori on my Vita, but I’m not a huge fan of the art style, or the fact that most of the female MCs have almost no boobs, and the ones that do just don’t go well with the art style IMO. It is something I overlook, however, as it is indeed a fantastic JRPG on the Vita. Hell, I’ve never played a Ys game before, but when I saw the Celetica LE (and from what I’ve heard of the series in general), I’m definitely picking it up when it comes out!

            Whew…Excuse my long-winded discussion!

          • Demeanor

Thanks for the reply. By transformed megami I meant the Goddesses (megami) in HDD forms.
Regarding the AAAs, personally I think a game’s worth is very subjective and goes beyond popularity and number of sales, there are a number of games that I love and consider crème de la crème despite their lack of $ success, Valkyria Chronicles to cite one. So imo AAA = big budget = probably a good quality game, but that doesn’t mean it will “click” with you, and you could hold less known games more dear for a variety of reasons.
I too prefer JP games to western ones although I play both worlds, and I definitely would like western media to give them more space/talk more about what makes them special (there was a recent article on this site about totori plus that’s a golden example of this), that would maybe give a little push to new people who could enjoy these kinds of game, though I think the majority of western gamers will still be firmly anchored to western games, it’s just the way things are,
I like the Atelier titles because of their music, their atmosphere, their art style, the funny and carefully crafted personalities of the casts, the challenge in managing time, resources and events. :)

Exactly! I’m getting kinda off-topic here, but I just watched the most recent episode of Podcast Beyond on IGN, where they talked about how the PS4’s Remote Play feature might make making games for the Vita moot. And it immediately made me think of the future of Japanese games, at least as far as the PS Vita – There are plenty of great games that really need to be localized, such as the Tales of Innocence and Hearts R, MIND=0, XBLAZE: Code Embryo, and the 3 Neptunia games, by Namco, Aksys, and NISA, respectively. The only thing they ever say right now is “the PS Vita is selling pretty well right now in Japan”, with no mention of Japanese-specific games.

Well, at least we’re getting Ys Celetica. Oh, and “Japanese games” does NOT include Western AAA games developed by Japanese studios (pretty much all Square Enix games, some of Capcom’s stuff, and pretty much all of Japan Studio).

But seriously – I’ve said this a few times now, but I really want to see more people talking about the niche Japanese games. You know, like why the series is a parody of the game industry (seriously, why isn’t there a parody of EA’s woes and Micro$oft’s fuck-ups?), why Yellow Heart’s boobs are so damn huge (and why they shouldn’t be!), etc. Not saying AAA games like TLoU have to be pushed off to the side, just make room for Japanese games.

I mean, Kotaku does this fairly well, but even the biggest games like Persona 4, Tales, Ni no Kuni, and Fire Emblem Awakening don’t get too much coverage outside Kotaku (and of course, Siliconera). At least IGN is doing better in their reviews, with ToX getting an 8.

Lol I could just go on and on, huh?

        • WhyWai

Tales of Xillia is such a good JRPG. For both casual and hardcore JRPG fans… but no one is talking about the game.

    • Ladius

Victory is probably the best entry for this purpose, it has a nice mix of Mk2’s improved battle system and the first game’s sillyness, while being fairly rich in terms of contents and having less fanservice than the previous entries. You will miss out on some references, but overall the plot is absolutely understandable if you know the series’ premises and follow the dialogues.

  • Cool =)

  • HerosLight

I want this…but no vita or money..

  • Tiredman

The cd system isn’t very fleshed out in my opinion. Most of the chips were just dull, and even godly discs did nothing but use weaker skills to give you access to one powerful one. Hopefully they revamp that a good deal to make it feel more like a part of a game rather than a waste of time.

    • DesmaX

lel, I just used them for platinum, anyway

      • Tiredman

I need to go play post game V. I bought the level up packs, but didn’t find a good place to level up so got bored fighting the same monsters over and over. I have access to that training dungeons, or whatever it was, where the monsters wipe the floor with me, and there is no other new dungeon that is a stepping stone from final boss to that other dungeon, at least not one I could find.

  • Protos_Heis

Man I want red back, but I don’t see that happening.

    • Landale

It most likely won’t. The best we can, reasonably, hope for is a new girl who is more or less Red in personality.

  • Tyler Beale

Siliconera, can you not be bothered to add high-res versions of the photos/screens you upload?

Anyway, speaking of NISA..Get this shit localized…NOW!!!

  • KuroNathan

    • DyLaN

While you are at it, reminds them abt MGZ and Z/X.

      • KuroNathan

  • Isaac Newton

I will put a f*cktons of Inafune’s face in Neptunia.
    I want it now!

  • Kami nii

Please Localize this I want this badly!!
