BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Tournament Shows Off Some Slick Moves

By Sato . September 3, 2013 . 4:09pm

While Arc System Works’ upcoming PlayStation 3 version of BlazBlue: Chronophantasma will becoming out later next month, the arcade version has been out for almost a year. Famitsu shares a look at a recent nation-wide tournament that took place, to decide which team is the strongest.

The national tournament, called “BBCP Ultimate Team Decisive Battle: My Team Is The Strongest” took place recently in Shinjuku, Tokyo, where players from all around Japan gathered to prove who has the strongest BlazBlue: Chronophantasma team.

For those of you who don’t want any spoilers on who’ll win, skip the next part. Otherwise, those of you who’d like to check out any particular fights, the video starts out with well-played Valkenhayn mirror match.

At the 4:30 mark, we get to see a very hardworking Hakumen go against the Valkenhayn from the previous match. At 7:30 we’re treated to a very talented Hazama, who is known for being rather tough to control, against the Hakumen from earlier.

At 11:20, one of the better Litchi players we’ve seen, goes up against the talented Hazama. From 15:05, we get to see a match-up of Ragna against Litchi. Ragna’s impressive combo he pulls off in the first round, is definitely worth noting for you Ragna players out there. Finally, at 19:45 we get to see Litchi continue her fight as she goes up against the speedy Taokaka, who shows off some new moves.

Huh. Ragna is my main and that combo actually looks doable.
Can’t wait to get my hands on him in CP.
    Day one import.

  • vileBrenman

I can’t wait for this game I just wanna put my HELLS FANG in that INFERNO DIVIDER.

The last BlazBlue game I played was Continuum Shift. Fun but I don’t really have a lot of time to dedicate to learning the intricacies of a fighter with a fairly steep learning curve. The result? I was terribad lol.

That said, I do like the characters of the series (*cough*Noel*cough*) and wouldn’t mind seeing them in a Dynasty Warriors type game. Ahhhh, wishful thinking.

    • British_Otaku

They haven’t been that shy as far as giving the BlazBlue cast a spinoff to appear in like BlayzBloo: Super Melee Brawlers Battle Royale and BlayzBloo: Clone Phantasma on DSiware and the 3DSware (Noel’s included of course). They also popped up in the Arc System Works Soccer game on the 3DS it seems.

So we have some action games with lighter focus on technical skill if you want to seek them out, though no Dynasty Warriors conquer the bases type games with Noel Vermillion to my knowledge.

  • Sardorim

Well… I guess she likes to show off her… Back?

  • I’ve never really had a character in the series I was good at till nu12. Hopefully there’s a demo for this so I can try out the new characters

  • Pdugna

Yeah…ever since i seen Guilty Gear on Genshiken i have loved Arc System games…so much which then got me to buy a used copy of GGXX. Now i buy basically every Blazblue game minus the 3ds/ds spinoffs. Arc system has basically proven any fighting game they make is worth my money.

yes, Arcsys games are really great and unique, some say that they are too much japanese, but for me this uniquiness is what made them grew on me.

  • RichyGaming

First thing I thought about that Hakumen in action at 4:30 was “Wow, this guy is getting pressured so hard he forgot to play” until later

  • Brion Valkerion

Oh Japan, with so many streamers and baller PC rigs on youtube/nico, HOW is it even possible all your non official gameplay footage is in 360p. Seriously, someone call GodsGarden and get them to record your video please!

  • Go2hell66

Dear Arcsystemworks plz nerf Hakumen before the console release

  • Ardus

Hah at 7:00 Hakumen is all like “i can see all your movements!”.

  • Göran Isacson

Daaym. Those were some fast matches: kind of impressive of Litchi manages to defeat all these fighters despite not being as fast or strong as them. That staff man- range and versatility.

  • Demeanor

Daaamn that Litchi is awesome, I’ll never be able to play her like that T_T that mid-range game was amazing, Ragna basically didn’t get a chance to get close enough, she zoned him at mid range :O
