imageMakato Asada, known for developing many shooters at Cave, has joined Mages, the company behind games like Phantom Breaker and Bullet Soul.

Asada is developing a new title for Xbox One which will be revealed in a few days. He is also working on localizing an Xbox Live Arcade game called Constant C, which might be this PC game.

They need to localize the Phantom Breaker games already.

so far nothing makeing want to get a XBone :S i dont think there ever will be eather

  • superdry

Pretty excited to see what Asada is working on at MAGES.

The link to Constant-C should be the game that is also being worked on. A Dengeki article had some screenshots of it.

I wish him good luck but I hope it isn’t a shmup as I don’t want the Xone to become the next home of STG since I’m going with Ninty / Sony for next gen.

    • pekikuubik

No worries. There’s basically nothing MS can do to fix the Xbone’s inevitable DoA fate in Japan. Moneyhatting devs didn’t work the last time and it won’t work this time.

      • TrevHead

Rather than money-hatting it seems that STG devs just go for the console that has the least hoops to jump through. Imo which console is the most popular in Japan doesn’t matter as much to them, they follow their niche playerbase and vice versa not the mainstream.

I do get the feeling that some STGs might have been burnt on the 360 and don’t want to work with MS in the future. Grev gives off that impression.

Asada was a cool dude, good to see him find a home in mages. I have a feeling this might be a shmup or VN though

Anyway, xbox one is region free as well, so i’m glad to hear about some Jpn games other than crimson dragon and D4 so far. Starting disorder 6 now.. At least if there xbox one exclusives now, people can’t complain about region locked like 3DS or 360..

      • TrevHead

That’s true, region free is always nice for boxed STG especially since localised versions rarely sell.

Which ever system STG settles on will serve the devs interests the most. I won’t be buying a X1 or PS4 for a couple of years anyway and see if I want to come along for the ride or not.

It’s folly to expect everything on one system and crying about it is pointless (like Bayo2) at this point any quality STG on a non handheld is a good thing.

And yeah I like Asada and tbh I’m now really interested in what a post CAVE Asada STG would look like :D

  • Pockystix

it’s going to be pretty hard for the Xbone to fill that niche in Japan that it had last gen, what with the heavier price and almost no effort from M$ to make it work there.

If we’re lucky, devs like this can find their footing elsewhere.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

I am surprised he would not be doing this for the PS4 if it came down to a choice. Yet, I am interesting to see what it is.

  • Yan Zhao

What is up with this guy and Xbox. Im still waiting to play most Cave games outside of that platform.
