Hey, Is That A New Pokémon In Pokémon X And Pokémon Y?

By Ishaan . September 5, 2013 . 10:31am

In yesterday’s Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company discussed the Pokémon Bank paid service, new Mega Evolutions, and special Nintendo 3DS XL systems. However, Pokémon fansites have also picked up on something the rest of us overlooked—a new Pokémon in Pokémon X/Y.

Pictured above, the Pokémon in question reportedly appeared for a split second during the Nintendo Direct video at the 15:16 mark. The archived video on YouTube no longer appears to contain this footage, so we assume it has been edited out.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are slated for worldwide release on October 12th.

Conspiracies… Now I’m really wondering why they added it in if they were going to just remove it later.

    • Jibun Rest@rt

They probably removed it because it was an oversight. They probably weren’t cleared to reveal that Pokémon yet (however that even works).

      • AuraGuyChris

Just like the dead tree Pokémon.

  • AuraGuyChris

Bad Siliconera/Ishaan! You’re supposed to marvel at MEGA VENASAUR, not some random new Gen 6 Pokémon which is probably far more important than rehashes of evolutions!
(I actually care more about the Kalos Pokémon more than the Mega Pokémon.)

  • leingod

    OMG it’s… it’s… ALPACKY!

    • AuraGuyChris

It’s Reese and Cyrus (Animal Crossing: New Leaf)’s stranded sibling.

  • SlickRoach

Mega Absol needs a haircut! And I didn’t know its wings were removable! But in all seriousness it kind of looks like a llama, and I want a llama Pokémon so bad, preferably Normal/Ground.

  • Becky Cunningham

This is a lie. There are no new Pokemon in the upcoming new Pokemon games.

    • Syn

wow guys, downvoting someone for sarcasm, thats a new low, yall need to lighten up.

  • Raltrios

Oh, you guys didn’t notice it? I did when I saw the various screenies, but not during the actual video.

  • TomSkylark

Considering how much it looks like Absol, but not necessarily like a pre-evolution, I’m wondering if maybe this is the downside of Mega-Evolution (besides the sheer indignity of being called “Mega Venusaur” or what have you)–Pokemon revert to some sort of weird in-between stage for a time afterwards. So, this would be some sort of weird, temporarily de-powered Absol after it cools down from Mega-Evolution.

… Or it’s a llama like folks are saying.

    • andref

Ummm, are you trying to make a Digimon reference as if pokemon reach a “perfect” stage but then are forced back into their training stage

      • TomSkylark

I’ve actually never seen/read/played anything having to do with Digimon. I guess a lot of people have made the comparison now that Mega-Evolution is happening, but I’m not familiar with how any of that works.

        • andref

Oh ok, just seemed a bit familiar. Well evolution for digimon does expend a lot of energy so they revert to a lower stage (until they get better at mastering evolution though)

        • Miss_Madness

It was just because of the word mega and the temporary thing. Which the Japanese probably don’t have a problem with it since the term they used that for that stage was perfect.

Digimon evolution is a bit complicated depending on which show, comic, or game.

  • Bur

I want to put a bow in its fluffy fluff.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Looks like it has a beak hmmmmm Chocofro?

    • Touma

this. this right here is epic XD. like for you good sir

  • Robgoro

The impression that I get is that it’s a pre-evolution of Absol. I’m not sure they’d get rid of his characteristic face-blade thing if they made it a step up, so, sweet!

    • Symbol de Au

It seems too big to be a pre-evolution of Absol to me. On the topic of this Pokémon though it might have also been shown for a split second in the X and Y anime trailer right after Ash got off the plane.

  • GameWinner

Absol evolution hinting at a Hoenn remake just like how most of the Sinnoh Pokemon hinted at the Johto remake.
    I have to believe!

  • Jesse Torres

It looks like a Gryphon to me.

  • DuskSharkEX

Again, this looks like a shaggy dog.

I’ll laugh if it’s evolutions follow the song. xD

    It’s absol pre-evolution :P

  • Coeurl

A poodle pokemon? In a region based on France?

    Brilliant!

    • Pedro Tavares

That would be Swirlix this one is an Alpaca or a Lama.

      • Coeurl

Swirlix is the toy poodle/toy breed

THIS one is the standard poodle, it’s not really Alpaca-shaped (those ears, dog snout, body too squat, neck isn’t long enough, close up image shows three toes)

        • SUP

          swirlix is cotton candy xd

  • Guilherme Matheus Silva

    Looks like an Alpaca

  • Natalie Rath

I foresee the future. When animal crossing and Pokemon has a cross over.

    Pokemon crossing!!

  • Shady Shariest

    Mega-Absol?

    • grevlinghore

That already exists, so that´s not it.

      • Shady Shariest

        :O!
        …Mega Llama?

  • SUP

LOOKS LIKE A BASIC NORMAL TYPE

  • Steven Higgins

If it was related to Absol, then it would have to be a pre-evolution because only fully evolved Pokemon have mega forms but I don’t think is related to Absol.
