Virtual On Memorial Talkshow To Be Held On On Nico-Nico This Month

Fans of classic old-school robot action Cyber Troopers Virtual-On will want to tune in on the 14th of September to Nico Nico, announced Inside Games,  when the series gets a special memorial talkshow episode. Featuring conversations with Sega, Hasegawa and Volks amongst others, it will also have exhibition matches from veteran players (Sign up details here)


The talk show will focus specifically on Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force (Last released on the Xbox 360 in 2010) and Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram (Also released on the Xbox 360 in 2009) The Virtual-On series was groundbreaking when it first arrived in arcades almost 20 years ago, featuring realistic robot graphics, twin joysticks and smooth combat in up to two-player head-to-head fights.

    Gotta find one of those twin-stick controllers and see how it plays with it.

    Virtual On remains my favorite arcade game to this day. I’ve never actually played any of the console ports, though. I have a hard time imagining it without the dual joystick setup.

    VOOT is still a blast to play! Apharmd S FTW!!! I will tune in but my japanese sucks, so hopefully someone will do us that solid and sub it for us non-japanese-speaking chumps…
