Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 Trailer Jumps Out At Us

By Spencer . September 6, 2013 . 1:20am

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 is a full remake of the PlayStation 3 game for Vita and this trailer showcases some of the new features. You can jump in dungeons now. The battle system and world map have been remade. Also, the God Game system where you can create a video game disc by picking tropes from Hyperdimension Neptunia V is in Re;Birth 1.

What we haven’t seen yet is if the original Disc Summon system  from Neptunia 1 which let players load pictures saved on their PS3 for summons is in Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 or not. Also, Compile Heart hasn’t said anything about other characters like NISA, Gust, 5pb or Red. Maybe we’ll see new characters like Comcept or something since the two companies have worked together a number of times.

i love these game and im really happy to see a remake i will tottla be playing this hand down day when it come out

  • leingod

There are two things that I still wanna know about this game:

1 – Will it allow for custom skins like the PS3 ones?
2 – Will it run well on the Vita? Steady framerates and stuff.

    • https://twitter.com/GaleGlory89 KiQun

It’s remake for Vita, so I guess we can expect certain quality. Though it’s not certainly the frame rates can be absolutely good. Even console game sometimes failed to meet expectation.

      • Bobby Jennings

        Looks laggy in this trailer.

        • Duc PC-QB

I have bad news for you.

All Neptune games run like shit on PS3, the fps is horrible imo.

Dont know about Vita ver though

          • refrain

Not V, V frame rates are good enough

          • Duc PC-QB

Not too sure about V, is the retail version got a stable patch or not ? When Im using skills in V its like the game just become a slide show, its annoying.

          • refrain
          • Duc PC-QB

That video just proved how horrible frame rate Neptune can be . You can see most of the time the fps couldnt be higher than 20.
If this game was a fighting or action genre its unplayable

          • Razeluxe Meitzen

You don’t know shit. There’s no problem with the fps in this game. Nearly no one ever has any problem with it.

          • Razeluxe Meitzen

Why are even a freaking hater like you here?

          • https://twitter.com/RaiohV Raioh

Not really, even V has its fair share of slow downs. The games are just not very well optimized tho literally everything is better than the first one ww

Luckily it’s not bad enough that I’d say fuck it but they’re noticeable~

          • leingod

            Yeah, that’s why I’m concerned… precisely because the PS3 ones don’t run very good. I haven’t played V, though.

At least in the case of the Atelier+ games, the Vita versions still keep some of the PS3 versions’ quirks.

          • Tyler Beale

Not just the Neptunia games – the Agarest games run like shit as well (hell, they’re actually worse than the Neptunia series’ problems).

Also, both series share some of the exact same SFX. No, I’m not kidding – they’re literally CopyPaste (pun sort-of intended).

          • Lynx

-Not just the Neptunia games – the Agarest games run like shit as well (hell, they’re actually worse than the Neptunia series’ problems).

Only 2. The first two games run fine on my system. I don’t experience any slow down. 2, however, has loading in combat and general slowdown but I think that falls down under the models they opted to use.

          • Tyler Beale

The slowdowns ON THE FUCKING MENUS (which means controller inputs sometimes don’t register), as well as some of the load times during battles (which oddly goes away as I play longer sessions) makes me wonder what that 1 minute load screen at startup is for. (other than listening to the lovely save/load music)

As for the Zero (haven’t played 1 yet), well, the only load I see is at the start of battles, maybe because I own the PSN version. The other problems I have with the game are the picky requirements for the true ending (which exists in the other 2 games too), the fact that Compile Heart somehow expects us to be experts from the start (as evidenced by the 1st boss kicking my ass before I had a chance to act….that is, before I bought the DLC gear), and the slow pacing of the game by placing 30-minute battles at every point on the map.

          • Bobby Jennings

            Trust me, I know. :(

  • Kami nii

BOOM!! time to pre-order this game!! :)

  • refrain

3 characters battle hm… Nep, Compa, IF and maybe there’ll be sub slot for Noire, Vert and Blanc? I wonder if there are any more characters…

  • Bobby Jennings

Damn they just made V with #1 storyline. I’m kinda upset because I dont really like V or 2′s combat. I prefer 1 over all of em but eh whatever.

  • Raharu95

well there is no reason why Nisa and 5pb would not be here… I’m worried about everyone else though x_x I want Red-chan.

  • Demeanor

Remake looks cool, but maybe they overdid it with Nep V reuse: the trailer showed the exact same menus, dungeons, special moves, models; when the series starts growing in episodes (this is a remake, but it’s till #4 in the list) I think fans need new elements to keep enjoying the games. I sure hope I’m mistaken and the game will indeed offer a decent amount of new content.

  • cloudcaelum

Looks good but Holy, still 15FPS gameplay? Fuck!

    • michel

Perhaps it’s the youtube video frame rate that messes things up. Anyway, I also had the impression that the characters “skate” instead of walking, a thing that was also noticeable on Senran Kagura S. V.

      • tubers

Very unlikely as the first 30 seconds of the youtube video (w/c I assume is either an intro or a cutscene) has good framerate.

Come the 40 second mark and you can really see it’s not butter smooth.

I personally wouldn’t mind unless this game really “requires” a solid 30 fps. I doubt it’s as “needed” compared to a game like AC3L w/c I was able to enjoy enough even if it dipped 16-18 fps and ran about 22-23 fps on average.

What makes we wonder is that the new trailer of this game didn’t show other characters being rendered on screen. As if only one character and one enemy can be shown at a time.

I watched the the 1st game’s footage and V’s and they’ve shown multiple characters and enemies rendered on screen that then transitions to enemy and character in turn during “actual combat” but I don’t see it here.

It looks good for a VITA game though (at least it looks very near the home console version on what’s presented so far), such sacrifices might have been really needed to reach their graphic standard.

    • Brion Valkerion

Yeah this turned me off from the other games, the plot and characters all make me want to buy it but the frame rate is freaking awful in this series and I really dont understand why or why it has not been fixed.

  • Roberto

    Wait no Nisa or Gust
    that sad

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

This looks really good. I see no reason for there not to be a localization of it either since we usually get the Neptune games =)

  • TheExile285

Looks good. NISA needs to bring this over so I can throw some money their way.

    • Testsubject909

I’ll also gladly throw extra money for a Limited Edition.

      • Tyler Beale

Same here. Acutally, I’d pay for the 3-pack that contains the LEs of Idol PP, Re;birth 1, and my own game!

      • ShadowDivz

Didn’t know you were a neptunia fan.

    • jujubee88

I’ve heard Disgaea 4 VITA will be localized, so maybe this will be as well

      • TheExile285

Nothing confirmed yet for either but we should get both. I just hope they don’t wait a long time.

I love XSEED, but waiting like 6 months for the Ys Celecta localization announcement was painful lol.

    • Andrew Arndt

yeah throwing money at NISA and year sadly i wont be see the new y´s til Feb 2014 TT thoe i have my jap copy i could play that instead

  • Noire

    Wh… Where is my scene…

    • Tyler Beale

It’s coming, my lovely human counterpart. I mean, NISA is now making a t-shirt of you!

It’s only a matter of time until we find out more about your own game, Noire….

    • HerosLight

You always have a scene, Ms. Popular >:|

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

Damn, this looks way better than the original.

  • Tyler Beale

Ugh…You’d think that handing development over to another studio would get the CH problems (anyone who’s played the Agarest series or previous Neptunia games knows what I’m talking about) to go away, but..nope! They’re still here!!!

And once again, everything is taken straight out of Neptunia Victory. Just like the anime series!!

    • Brion Valkerion

IKR its pretty amazing, sad, but amazing that its still there.

    • TheExile285

      What problems?

      • Tyler Beale

Frame rate issues, poor optimization, near-freezes in some cases, etc.

        • TheExile285

I don’t really see any FPS issues in the trailer but I’ll admit stuff like that is subjective.

How exactly do you no the poor optimization and freezing are still present just from the trailer?

          • Tyler Beale

I’ll admit, they’ve gotten better at it (as shown in Victory, where the only real slowdown was with a few special attacks) compared to the Agarest series, but…it still doesn’t look exactly 30FPS like it should be. Also, notice that the background surrounding the Vita screens during gameplay is running buttery smooth.

    • Lynx

The only problems I remember with Agarest was the reused assets from other games and the pacing in general being so bloody slow. Especially for 1 and Zero.

Mind you, that was just my experience.

      • Tyler Beale

I couldn’t agree more. I only played Zero and 2 though. I actually bought the 2 LE before I finished Zero, but I decided to shove it off to the side and torture myself with finishing Zero so I could use the clear save bonuses for RoAW2, which are fucking helpful for getting the true ending. Hell, in Zero, I didn’t know the ending requirements were so sensitive, as I was so obsessed with Friedelinde at the time that I fucked Routier and Sayane’s affection level so hard that they didn’t even show up as choices at the end of Gen 1. I didn’t get the beach scenes for either generation, but I dealt with enough bullshit to the point where I said “Fuck it” and just went with the bad ending, swearing to never play through it again. Not even for the version of RoAW1 included in Zero (which explains why it’s 15GB – yes, I own the PSN version of Zero), and especially not for the Boundary Plane.

Not so much in 2, as it is IMO much better than the previous games, minus the continuous technical issues and the occasional (especially toward the end of Gen 2) typo. That should be Fiona Gen 3, not Gen 2, Aksys. And I’m even using MasterLL’s guide to make sure I don’t fuck up the true ending/platinum, as well as using 3 saves (one per generation).

For both games, I bought the DLC weapons, and for 2, those skill systems look too conveluted for me so I’m just fucking them….for now, anyway.

  • artemisthemp

Looks like Re; Birth 1 is using everything from Neptunia V, which is my less favorite battle system.

Wish they would have keep the original or rather improved it a bit as been unable to heal outside of battle is little meh

  • Learii

full remake? does that mean all 3 games in 1?

    • TheExile285

no, its a remake of the first using various improvements from V.

      • Bobby Jennings

More like using everything from V

  • DesmaX

Didn’t know they were going to port V t
    Oh

  • KuroNathan

Oh man speculation time. I don’t know how comcept-chan would end up like… does comcept have a general feeling so far?

  • Aristides

Looking good :P Now let’s hope for a localization! and PP too

  • AxionAzure

A character for Comcept? That’d be food for thought, though I think the priority should be making sure the already popular characters are in it.

    • TheExile285

      Oh that would be great!

  • Keko

This is all I’ll ever need in this life…until HDN4.

    • Andrew Arndt

dont forget Nori geting her own game to so hyped for that

      • Keko

        Lactation STRONG!

  • AkiraScare

A remake of the game that showed me the road to the best JP company NIS …. cant wait for it (TT_TT)

  • ShadowDivz

I want the picture at the end for a wallpaper.

  • TrueDefault

My Vita is so happy right now!!

  • Vash bane

so the original didn’t have VA’s?
(I guess i’ll wait for this one since I didn’t play the original)
