imageTecmo has a unique series of games where players set traps called Deception in the West or Kagero in Japan. We haven’t seen a new Deception game since Trapt which came out almost a decade ago. During Sony’s press conference a logo for Kagero: Darkside Princess was shown as an upcoming PlayStation Vita game.

Awesome. I have great memories of the PS1 games, specially Kagero Deception (The second one). Can’t wait to see those traps updated to today’s standards.

Oh god,i remember this when i was a kid.”Deception” is that game where you play as girl using traps, right?
It was awesome game, there was many ways to combine traps in deadly combos and then watch people flying around.Maybe they’l do something with touchscreen this time,i can see some stuff that they can do with it.

I remember playing it when I was very young.

Tecmo’s Deception. The very first one we got.

You played as a prince who during his execution prayed for power, from any source whatsoever, willing to sell his soul to the devil, to get revenge on his brother who betrayed him and framed him for patricide.

And this is what I love about the first one compared to the others. Every other Kagero games has a victimized woman who is either manipulated or is a tool of some great evil.

Now don’t get me wrong here. I love the newer Kagero games too. The gameplay is a thing of beauty and the new additions they made are welcome and very fun, playing around far more with the traps themselves.

But I miss many of the things in the original. Expanding the area you’re in gave you the feel that you were truly the Lord of the Manor that held the devil captive. Being able to choose between sacrificing the souls of your still living victims, killing them for their gold, or taking them alive to then utilize to create your own otherwordly creatures utilizing their fleshy material was just that delightful level of evil, not to mention the use of the masks to lure or chase away enemies from a different room altogether… Which would be nice since now you can only lure enemies by using yourself as bait and entering the same room as the enemy/targets, which makes you far more vulnerable.

      And speaking of evil.

I miss that too… The first protagonist was willingly indulging in evil to accomplish his ambition and desires.

Every other protagonist? Like I said. Tools or victims. Not exactly the most inspiring of characters to play as and it plays far more into a survival instinct then it does a more evil plotting one which is what the game actually truly taps into.
