Square Enix recently surprised us with their latest smartphone game announcement, Final Fantasy Agito, which it is related to Final Fantasy Type-0. While you can check out more details in our earlier report, Square Enix also uploaded the game’s first trailer.

“Come! The nine soldiers whom the myths sing of — those who are worthy of Agito. The world is waiting for your arrival. Hone your souls together, and become the hope that brings light to the world!”

The narration is then followed by the quote: “The first cycle that surpasses the spiral of 600 million.”

The trailer gives us a glimpse of a player walking around in Rubrum’s Magic Academy, Perisylium Suzaku, with what appears to be several NPCs with “Talk” symbols floating above their heads, followed by intense battle scenes against a Behemoth and some Slimes.

We also get to see a few familiar faces from Final Fantasy Type-0, such as Cater and Nine, along with a glimpse at Final Fantasy Agito’s new character, Myu Kagerohi.

Final Fantasy Agito is slated for release this winter for Android and iOS devices.

  • Heropon

    Look good .

  • Syn

I heard you can use real money to purchase in game items…….*sigh*

EDIT: It does look good, though I dont see why they had to give it that cell shaded look when it seems to be of the more mature and realistic tone…..

    • French

Cell shaded can be both mature and realistic…it’s just how you work with it

  • Alex Sargeant

Hopefully combat isn’t too simple. I really like the conversation portraits though. It will be ridiculous if we get the abandoned original version of Type-0 (at least in name) before we get the completed one but.. I wont complain.

  • French

This trailer makes me think the word Agito

  • Umar Ver 1.OBJECTION

I know I shouldn’t be negative and all. It’s really hard though..I love FF..I REALLY REALLY love FF. It all just irks me so much……Final Fantasy 13-3, All The Bravest, Agito, Tactics S, Airborne Brigade…..I’m honestly at a point where I don’t care anymore about this franchise. I hope XV will restore my faith

  • ivanchu77

I stopped reading at ” smartphone game “

    • Chiupon

      TOO BAD 4 U

  • chibiwall

why a game like this for ios? ._.
still waiting for type 0 in west, Square :v

    • Raiger

yeah exactly, totally agree with ya, i was so excited to see this news until i read “ios” -_-” we’ve been waiting type 0 for so long… cant stand it anymore ^^

    • DyLaN

Type 0 is first announced as an phone game, folks.

And dev are free to dev their game for any platform as they see fit.

      • Oliver Teigaga

And we’re free to express our displeasure at squares platform of choice

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

I’m not bothering with it if it’s on the iPhone.

  • Ferchenko

    My deception is augmented

  • Kaseladen

I’ve given up at this point

  • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

every time that i see the scene showed in the beggining of the video my hate towards rem and machina just keep leveling up.
if they make a non f2p version i probably would buy that

  • Ferrick

eh, that wasn’t so bad, but wondering on what are the chances of this being cancelled and remade into PSV ?

    • neocatzon

I have a wild dream about SE is currently developing an enhanced Type-0 then waiting to release that version for the west.

      • epy

Me too, brother. I refuse to believe a company can be that idiotic otherwise, even S-E.

      • yomachaser

Enhanced and released on the vita in the west instead of ios and android you mean? That’s a pretty unrealistic dream mate.

        • neocatzon

          A man can dream.

      • ShadowDivz

I wish i could believe that man.

    • TheExile285

      None :(

    • Chiupon

idk but type-0 will probably come out on vita

US is a major consumer of ios games

      it’s probably a marketing scheme

“We release this fab A+ game that will fuel our mobile game sales”
like it’s a guaranteed hit in japan rn
i don’t think you guys know how good Type-0 was

      • Chiupon

this game is literally easy to develop mobile fanservice cashcow

  • EX+

Not buying. If this was on the VITA and they actually localized it this time, I would’ve run out and buy a VITA.
I love SE, but there are a few things I think they could improve on.

  • Virevolte

I don’t care about the support if the game is fine.
But I don’t plan on buying a Smartphone to play with it… >_<

Soooo… no port, no money !

  • SMT

    Yes… “Familiar”… ;_;
In all honesty this does look good, and I have no problem with this being on iOS (I’ve bought and played “Final Fantasy Dimensions”, it’s actually a decent old-school FF and worth the price), but as long as we don’t have a way to play Type-0 in English, it just feels like Square-Enix is laughing at the fans.

  • artemisthemp

It actually look pretty good, when you consider it is a Mobile game

  • WhyWai

so… can I have Type-0 for Vita? please?

    • Nanaki

      What do you think?

  • Kevin Schwarz

You know, Agito would look GREAT on consoles, too bad we only get those crappy 13/something games. No offense, 13 part one was good, but the other two… Oh well, just prepare to have your iPhone’s battery to be drained with this game.

  • ShadowDivz

Are you serious? This thing is getting ported to phones?

Square Enix, im gonna go buy some lube, anything else you want to fuck me over with? Because im not making two trips.

    • Herok♞

Type-0 isn’t being ported to phones this is something else entirely.

      • ShadowDivz

Ahh my bad. So this isn’t a watered down version?

        • Ferrick

          prequel

          • ShadowDivz

Ahh. Whatever i doubt we will get it anyway.
            >_>

    • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

      XD

  • Junko Enoshima

They’d be much more familiar if the first game was released in Europe and the States.

  • Chiupon

    AHAHAHAH
smartphone or not i want this like i need air
    it looks fabulous
    a+
and as someone who played type-0
    i know
    this gonna be fabulous

  • Steven Higgins

Didn’t expect a mobile game to have these graphics.
Too bad all smartphone owners are gonna die when the machines rise up.
I don’t trust any electronic device with the word “smart” in front of it.
    That’s why I don’t have a smartphone.
This is how Terminator and The Matrix started.
    Looks good though.

  • Ric Vazquez

BRING US FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 ALREADY!

  • Tenshiken

We got Chaos Rings on PS Mobile, maybe Sony can convince SE to get this on PS Mobile as well so we can play it on Vita.

  • Longsun_Zhao

If it’s a solid game that you would enjoy playing, and you don’t buy it just because of the platform it’s on, you are doing yourself and SE a disservice.

  • DarthSithZero

Indeed, Some games aren’t made for smartphone

  • yomachaser

I’m sorry but that’s bs. For SE to flourish they need to go where the players are and that means mobile has to get the lion’s share of attention.

Would you really punish them for trying to give gamers games? That seems monumentally petty.

  • Pedro Furtado

Isn’t this game free? You would give them a download.

  • M’iau M’iaut

The deciding for yourself what makes a console is over. Find another site to post such things. Phones have indeed become a handheld gaming system. It may not be yours or others systems but, it is a gaming system for many.

  • Heropon

Let hope that PS VIta TV will sell more due to it cheap and have potenital as consoler. After that we will have a HD remaster of both Type-0 and Agito

  • Tenshiken

Usually I would agree with you, however this being an action rpg and not a turn based one means that you need optimal control over your character, which a touch screen does not give.

  • Sergio Briceño

Well there are a lot of cons considered:

    1) Quick input needed. Touch based smartphones suck at this.
    2) Seems decent. It’s for phones.
    3) Since it’s for phones, there is no way to prove SE they need to make games like these for PSP/Vita. Oh wait they did… They are just not willing to bring it over. Talk about disservice…

  • Brion Valkerion

^ Someone else realizes that, finally!

I would say the bigger problem will be price, SE is going to charge $60 for this and we know it. That or it will be $20, and 9.99 for every stage.

  • NickyArmstrong

Really? You’re still using the touch controls argument in 2013? They’ve already announced standardised gamepad support for iOS 7, Android’s had it for a while and there are COUNTLESS controllers made specifically for phones. If Agito doesn’t use any of those, then we can talk.

  • Altin

I’m gonna side with Masamune on this. Fans have been waiting eagerly for this game to be released on a handheld device and now Squeenix releases this on a platform that not so many people really care about. Where is the problem of making a Digital Release of Type-0 or now this game for the PSN? And if we are right now on that topic, why the hell is there still no Crisis Core?

It’s really as if SE hates to make money now.

  • Mar Mar

And Apple claims iPhone 5S graphics is on par with PS3 and Xbox 360 …. on a smaller screen.

  • Curan_Altea

You can get Type-0 off the psn. Its how I play it on my Vita.

  • yomachaser

You see that’s the odd mentality shared by many on this site. There are more players on mobile than anywhere else now so they are releasing to the majority platform. I know some on here don’t want to here stuff like that but it happens to be true.

  • yomachaser

Capability wise they are so are loads of android phones and tablets. What of it?

  • Altin

I guess they are very good at keeping themselves concealed then, as I dont see many people playing nonstop any noteworthy games on their mobile platform.

  • Syn

Core gamers(as we called by the industry, or Consumer gamers) are the ones willing to spend more top dollar for games(Collectors edition etc etc), casual gamers look something for a short while and once its done, its forgotten and lost in past of casual games once the platform its on loses popularity.(see Nokia gaming as an example), and with no physical copy to keep as well as no servers to maintain them even if you have a copy(fremium is just another form of DRM) then you lose a great game because it was placed on a fickle platform. Also, casual games usually(not all of them) tend to dumbed down and simplified for the masses thus reducing the overall experience one would have gotten, its especially hurtful when said game is one whose quality has already shone on standard gamin platforms only to see it dumbed down and sent to a platform that has little to no guarantee for long long term support.

  • Syn

Yes, because we all want to wallk around with a gamepad as well as a phone in our pockets..eish.

  • Syn

    Its free to play
