Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call expands the Final Fantasy themed music game with over 200 songs and more than 60 characters. The Nintendo 3DS game will have tracks from Final Fantasy XIV and Lightning Returns too.

Also new for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call is a two player versus mode.

Let’s see… Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics, Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII, Yuna from Final Fantasy X-2, a character from Final Fantasy Type-0, Vivi from Final Fantasy IX… Leon from Final Fantasy II?

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call comes out in spring 2014.

typo, vivi is from IX, not XI
and no, it’s not leon, it’s Benjamin from FF mystic Quest

    • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Mystic Quest was not a real FF at all. It was made for American’s and later for Japan. While the character is ザッシュ Zash, it was disliked by the US/EU and Japan. The game was even called Final Fantasy USA Mystic Quest in Japan, and just Mystic Quest in the EU.. An insult to the series, as almost all reviews said. Facts taken straight from FFWikia.

      • Zero_Destiny

Admittedly though, I believe Europe didn’t get a proper Final Fantasy release until FFVII on PSOne, so Final Fantasy wasn’t even a brand at the time they got Mystic Quest in Europe. They even name changed Seiken Densetsu on the GameBoy as just Mystic Quest as well. lol

        • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Seiken Denetsu was called Final Fantasy Adventure when it first arrived here.

          • Zero_Destiny

Odd, if you don’t mind where were/are you in Europe when it came around? HHhhmmm maybe not the entirety of Europe got that name change.

          • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

I’m in the US, use the Wiki’s to find out the truth. Numerous games had the names Final Fantasy added to bolster sales. Ultimately it didn’t help since fans could see right through it. Granted Seiken Denetsu did well since the Secret of Mana series is quite the amazing and innovative Action RPG for its time. I was born in 86, and have been playing games since 1990.

          • Lordshade

Seiken Densetsu 1 was called “Final Fantasy Gaiden: Seiken Densetsu” in Japan, so the first game WAS an FF spinoff already.

  • Brandonmkii

    Y’shtola <3

  • Chaos_Knight

I see Ace on the poster and if this gets localized before Type-0…

  • TheExile285

So this is an expansion? Ok, I was gonna pick up the original but I’ll wait for this.

    • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

Are you sure this includes everything from the first one?

Anyway you’ll have to wait until mid-2014 until this hits western shores… if it even does. I’m still incredibly angry at Square ever since they passed on Rocket Slime 3DS.

      • zaidandzhadow

i am also thinking about that, the release date it’s almost a year for spring 2014 more likely end of spring 2014 and cannot wait to play the complete game i’ve played the demo more than overvalued games AKA TLOZ OoT

    • Christopher McNair

I’m waiting for this too. It’ll save me from buying a bunch of DLC for the first game. With a supposedly 200 songs already included, I can wait for a possible localization. 3DS games seem to have a high rate of it.

  • Randy Marsh

Behold, the hero of Legend, one who was abandoned by history’s cruel weave, the one who would make his return in a time of need…,

I speak of course of the one and only, Benjamin!

Glad to see Square hasn’t forgotten about him, because I; unlike many others thought Mystic Quests was a pretty okay game, yes burn me at the stake for that line. But please Square if you are putting him in this game, give him his infamous shrugging pose as an ability for him to use.

    • roydgriffin

People can say what they want about FF Mystic Quest, but that Soundtrack was dope! Especially the battle themes! :)

  • Oni123

    I see Y’shtola from FFXIV =3

    • AnimusVox

I like Y’shtola, but I’d rather of had Yda.

  • Tincho Kudos

    Yay Ramza! Hype 80%

What’s ‘Tomb Yuna’? Unless that design (from X-2) was based on Lara Croft?

Edit: I’m looking forward to a western release; I loved Theatrhythm. Never did get everything in the game, but it was still awesome. Indieszero did a great job with the first and will do so with this.

  • Bunzi

That looks like Dagger from IX versus Cloud at the top, there.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

That Versus Yuna pic is too cute

    • Malon

      Isn’t that Garnet from FF9 ?

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

Oh wow, I’m an idiot lol

        • Malon

          No worries.

Garnet is my favourite female character btw. <3

  • Neophoton

If this gets localized, I’d find it sad that Ace would make a NA debut in this game than Type-0.

Then again, did the first game sell well enough for them to have interest in bringing this over? I’d buy it at a reduced price at the very least.

    • komiko12

Yes. From what I remember, there was a shortage of copies during the first week it came out. Apparently, they didn’t expect that this game would sell that well.

Also it seems that Curtain Call would have about triple of the first game’s in-game content.

  • Raiger

Awesome !i hope there’ll be western release version which will be my main reason to get 3DS ^^

If only those 200+ songs were in the base game… The first Theatrhythm was really quite adorable but sadly, only about 40 of its songs were something to actually play.

    • pressstart

39 base + 12 unlockables = 51, if you don’t want to count the ones from the series play (whatever it was called) and some of the random Chaos Shrine ones that used those uncounted songs.

  • My Little endy

Lot of typos in this article.

I’m so excited for this. I still play the original and would love more music/characters. I’m really happy Final Fantasy Tactics is being represented as well. Can I also wish for “You Are Not Alone” from the IX sound track?

  • Foryth

I played a ton of the original, and the addition of FFT music makes this a must buy IMHO.

  • alixraen

Holy Shit that’s Benjamin from Mystic Quest.

Suddenly this game is a must-have!

  • http://zeirchele.tumblr.com Arukard

I really hope this new update will be cross-region compatible!! I have a JP 3DS so my biggest regret was not being able to play with my NA version friends. Which was like…99% of them since I live in America…

  • wahyudil

Already had the first one, but I can’t wait to play the sequel … 200+ songs??? that will be satisfying …

  • akiko_sakuraba

Lol Garnet’s face. My calm childhood hero is now furious.
