Here’s A Look At Samurai Warriors 2 In HD, Again

By Spencer . September 16, 2013 . 12:38am

Tecmo Koei will release Samurai Warriors 2 HD for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation 3 package includes Xtreme Legends and Empires, so you’ll have all 32 playable characters plus the character editor from Empires.

The game comes out on October 24, but it isn’t the first time Samurai Warriors 2 was released in HD. Temco Koei released an Xbox 360 version back in 2006. How does that compare to Samurai Warriors 2 HD for PS3?

It honestly just looks like a port of the 360 version. Improvements are minimal at best.

Vita version doesn’t include all the characters and the character editor? That would make me sad.

Vita was seperated for some reason.

You either get SW2 HD + XL or SW2 HD + Empires.

PS3 version can get SW2 HD + XL and Empires.

There seems to be no option to grab just HD Empires or XL if you get the other bundle on the Vita.

That kinda sucks. And which one is the better option in your opinion?

I would say SW2 HD + XL unless you like CAWs than SW2 HD + Empires.

Still sounds like a tough choice. My favorite extra mode besides the story mode is that map-conquest mode, though.

Looking forward to this. SW2 was one of the first games I purchased for my PS2 (didn’t get one until 2006, believe it or not lol) and I remember just sinking hours and hours into this game. It was an impulse buy, if I recall correctly as I had never heard of Dynasty Warriors much less Samurai Warriors but the moment I saw SW2’s opening cinematic I was hooked.
