By Spencer . September 17, 2013 . 5:01pm

imageXbox One launches in 13 territories this November, but Japan isn’t one of them. Microsoft confirmed their next console will be available in Japan sometime in 2014.

Xbox One has a couple of games geared for the Japanese market like Crimson Dragon from the creator of Panzer Dragoon, D4 from Deadly Premonition director Swery65, an upcoming game from Phantom Breaker developer Mages, and WonderFlick from Level-5.

Good for a few hundred extra sales.

    • Highasthesky

      Very generous sales figures :D

      • MikelAL93

Especially since Xbox is known to flop in Japan.

  • Freud_Hater

    How uneventful…

  • John Diamond

something tells me the ps4/wii-u will be dominating japan this generation. just a hunch

    • Guest

Yep just like the 360 / Xbox classic.

I just hope we won’t see as many niche Japanese devs like Treasure/CAVE/Grev flocking to the X1 like they did with the 360.

    • Yause

Nah, the smartphones will reign supreme.

Regarding consoles, the writing has been on the wall since the PS3/X360.

I’m all about games, if I see something worth my time on Xbone I’ll consider it

    • Vesperion

The best comment i seen in this article

    • Holy_Angel_Kamineko

Agreed. I’ve owned all three consoles from last generation because there were games I wanted to play on each console.

    • ZEROthefirst

I still want a 360 only so I can play Tales of Vesperia in English (there’s honestly nothing else on the console I want), but I just can’t dignify $100+ for a console I’ll literally only play 1 game on… if only I could find a cheap used 360 online, or through friends that’s not broken or going to cost double to fix lol.
I liked the original Xbox for a lot of the games it had, but I can’t find anything else for the 360 that makes me want to spend money on it. The 360′s not a pretty good console in my opinion, it just doesn’t have enough games for me to dignify it.

I always get that nervous feeling when I hear anything xbox related headed to Japan

it’s that ‘ we better not. . .’ kind of feeling.

well, they can still try, right?

Truth be told, I’m mostly about Japanese games, so the only reason I would consider Xbox One is if it does well in Japan and gets a lot of Japanese support, neither of which will actually happen. Of course there will be big third-party games on it, but the majority of them will be on the PS4, and if they’re generous, Wii U as well.

I’m sure it will do fine, but I really miss the days when owning multiple consoles actually meant something.

  • miyamoto

and No One will buy it. sad.

  • Flamboyant Ass Nigga

I kinda doubt it will sell well in Japan lol Sony is the master race there.

    • http://LevelUpGeneration.blogspot.com/ KALiverin

Actually 3DS is master race there. It outsold the PS3′s lifetime sales within 2 years.

      • Flamboyant Ass Nigga

        Pretty sure i said Sony.

  • Robbyfishersora

Microsoft should just give up on japan. Will see how it goes.

  • eilegz

secret to have a chance in japan, lower the price, get monster hunter exclusive, continue to be the master race in the FGC fill the rpg exclusive that lacked in previous generation.

When all fail they can still throw money to the developers and publishers to make exclusive content and games

  • Yan Zhao

Why is Microsoft even bothering lol.
